Jericho has been found...

Finding Jericho only proves that it existed. Finding it in no way supports the Biblical account of what occurred.

I see you can not distinguish between pseudo-science (extrapolation) and the real deal.

Like I said, I gave you the sites below, that were developed by scientists.
Posted by singinrick at 05:53 PM : Feb 14, 2007

Obviously, by the names, they are scientists who also "drink the Kool-Aid" which places their objectivity in serious question.

Give me one independent respected institution that states that creationism is valid science. Just one. You can't and you know it.

Only "Kool-Aid" drinkers subscribe to it. Not objective, independent scientists.

That's like asking a communist about communism. He'll tell you it's the truth and the light for all.

Ask someone who is independent of communism and you'll get a completely different answer.

"To the contrary, more and more scientists nowadays are leaning towards a Creator."

There are plenty of evidences for creation just as there are supposed evidences for evolution. You are just ignoring them and writing them off as "religious dogma" or something like that.

Cite one independent respected institution that supports creationism.

-Exactly, just like you have placed your "faith" in some scientist who doesn't believe in God and says he/she has all the facts of why we are here because they supposedly can "prove it"

Not because they "supposedly" can prove it. Any scientist in the world could repouduce their experiment and validate their conclusion. There is no "supposition" to it.

I choose my facts from the Bible, and you choose your "facts" from Science.

Posted by singinrick at 05:43 PM : Feb 14, 2007

The definition of "fact" is:"a piece of information presented as having objective reality".

The Bible is completely subjective which is defined as: "lacking in reality or substance".

"Facts from the Bible" is a contradiction in terms. Facts can be proven objectively. There is not one single item in the Bible that can be proven independently or objectively.

Romans 1:20:
20For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities%u2014his eternal power and divine nature%u2014have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

-Notice this verse says from "WHAT HAS BEEN MADE"

Anyone can take credit for the creation of the entire universe if they never have to prove it, rick.

Guess what? I invented the automobile. Just take it on faith. Don't ask for any proof. All that talk about Ford was just the devil talking.......

singinrick-

A book that can not even gets it's own accounts straight can not, by any stretch of the imagination, be taken as factual, in my opinion.

Facts don't come in various versions.

"...Still as Paul McCartney wrote "Whatever gets you through the night"...posted by RandalDS

Randal, this is a small detail, but the late, great John Lennon wrote and sang that song (and Elton John did background vocals). Sorry, but I am picky when the Beatles are confused...especially John and Paul!

Nice poem, and yes I've heard it before...but it pertains to nothing in the Bible....

Posted by singinrick at 05:20 PM : Feb 14, 2007

You obviously did not read the final verse:

So, oft in theologic wars
The disputants, I ween,
Rail on in utter ignorance
Of what each other mean;
And prate about an Elephant
Not one of them has seen!

You haven't seen God any more than I have......

Where exactly does it have inconsistencies and contradictions?
Posted by singinrick at 05:16 PM : Feb 14, 2007

If you were to read the first four gospels in the New Testament (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John), for example, you will see four very different accounts of Jesus' life. Which, if any, is correct?

And it goes on and on and on with contradictions....beginning with Genisis on through Revelations.

cont'd:

The Fifth, who chanced to touch the ear,
Said- "E'en the blindest man
Can tell what this resembles most;
Deny the fact who can,
This marvel of an Elephant
Is very like a fan!"

The Sixth no sooner had begun
About the beast to grope,
Then, seizing on the swinging tail
That fell within his scope,
"I see," -quoth he,- "the Elephant
Is very like a rope!"

And so these men of Indostan
Disputed loud and long,
Each in his own opinion
Exceeding stiff and strong,
Though each was partly in the right,
And all were in the wrong!

MORAL,

So, oft in theologic wars
The disputants, I ween,
Rail on in utter ignorance
Of what each other mean;
And prate about an Elephant
Not one of them has seen!

singinrick-

Ever read the parable about the blind men and the elephant?

It was six men of Indostan,
To learning much inclined,
Who went to see the Elephant
(Though all of them were blind),
That each by observation
Might satisfy his mind.

The First approach'd the Elephant,
And happening to fall
Against his broad and sturdy side,
At once began to bawl:
"God bless me! but the Elephant
Is very like a wall!"

The Second, feeling of the tusk,
Cried, -"Ho! what have we here
So very round and smooth and sharp?
To me 'tis mighty clear,
This wonder of an Elephant
Is very like a spear!"

The Third approach'd the animal,
And happening to take
The squirming trunk within his hands,
Thus boldly up and spake:
"I see," -quoth he- "the Elephant
Is very like a snake!"

The Fourth reached out an eager hand,
And felt about the knee:
"What most this wondrous beast is like
Is mighty plain," -quoth he,-
"'Tis clear enough the Elephant
Is very like a tree!"

Is this your case against the Bible?
Posted by singinrick at 05:00 PM : Feb 14, 2007

My point is that, as the book is rife with inconsistencies and contradictions, it can not possibly be taken at face value as an historical or factual work.

-4 people on the planet at what time?

Posted by singinrick at 04:46 PM : Feb 14, 2007

Geez, for a preacherman you sure are ignorant about your own "how to" manual..Adam and Eve begat Cain and Abel. earth population at that time was 4. Cain killed Abel. Earth population now 3. Cain takes a woman from the bushes. Once again, the earth's total population was 4.

Considering that, according to your Bible, there were only 4 people on the planet at the time, it shouldn't be difficult to name all four.....

You expected me to know exactly who Cain's wife was. So can you tell me the name of someone else's wife who lived in Biblical times....there are some wives names mentioned, but not all of them. Again, not everyone who has ever existed has to be mentioned!

See my point here??

Now can you answer it or not? Or are you going to keep dodging it?
Posted by singinrick at 04:13 PM : Feb 14, 2007

You seriously expect anyone to come up with the names of 6 billion past and present inhabitants of the planet?

I ask for one and you respond by asking for 6 billion. Get real.

I'd be glad to answer this one for you marine, but you see there's one slight problem, and that is YOU'VE ALREADY STATED THAT YOU DON'T BELIEVE IN GOD....

I told you that you wouldn't answer.......what does my belief set have to do with your ability to answer the question? None whatsoever, that's what.

-Oh really, you seem to be the one on here who's cussing someone out like a little child,(you did with your "exusmcsgt" sign on name coincidentally, and you don't use that sign on name anymore...hmmmmmm...
Posted by singinrick at 03:59 PM : Feb 14, 2007

You can not back up your statement that I've cussed anyone. I challenge you do do so. Go ahead, preacherman, back it up. I DARE YOU.

In regards to my name change, I acceeded to the individuals who thought it preferable to exusmcsgt. Plain and simple. I have never contended that I am anyone different.
