Is anybody paying intellectual property rights to Chinese when they use guns? Gun powder was first invented by Chinese, right?

Yes, gun powder was invented quite recently so someone still has valid patents on it?

Really, if you have nothing intelligent to add, just STHU, please!

Hey, we do this stuff to ourselves -- they revere techies, we lawyers. If we think somebody is using our Intellectual property in China, we get to talk to the government -- who owns the company that is profiting by not paying for the license. If we use a Chinese invention here there are hundreds of thousands of US lawyers who will so gum up the works for an American usurper that they might as well invent something better themselves.

I like our system, but it does reflect who we value in our society.

It's funny that many many countries owe tons of money to the slaves. Who are the real slaves or parasites?

Seems like slave labor, no religious freedom, and no environmental protection might be more important than copyright infringement, but that hasn't stopped us from moving all our manufacturing there.

Just an interesting historical footnote here. Charles Dickens complained bitterly that Americans printed instalments of his novels without his permission. Of course, America was a developing nation then. Now many in developed nations simply help themselves (via the internet) to musical works with nary a thought that they're picking a hard working artist's pocket. Oh, and naturally, stealing any of Bill Gates' products is not even considered a crime by some otherwise upright citizens in the West. Just a little perspective here, folks.

The difference is when an individual is caught there are consequences. China is caught over and over again and gets away with impunity. Holding a nation accountable versus an individual are two very different things.
