What a coincidence!

Although the Czechs have enjoyed socialized medicine for the last 60 years, the government implemented a 30 Czech Crown service charge (about $1.50) two years ago for every time you visit the doctor. (Clearly, it was a foot-in-the-door for higher charges and more complicated insurance later.)

The Czechs *HATE* the 30 Crown charge.

This year, one chamber of Parliament voted to repeal the charge.

However, just this week, the Senate voted to keep the 30 Crown charge, but to lower the price of pharmaceuticals, which the goverment also controls.

I'm sorry, but when two countries on opposite sides of the globe decide to handle their health care problems in the same way during the same week, I smell a rat.

Bush signed the bill spending $50 billion dollars per year on overpriced drugs, with no provision to negotiate prices with quantity discounts. This was a big windfall for the drug companies who were behind the making of the legislation all along.

That action by Bush absolutely raised the price of prescription drugs. The Republicans have been taken over by the Health Insurance Industry.

The pharmaceutical industry, and Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., can all go to hell! They are a day late and a dollar short!

Sen. Baucus, it looks like you really earned your $2,833,731 in campaign gifts from the pharmaceutical and health care industries this time!! Way to go there, buddy!

And then after this doctor explained to the guy (who had had the broken leg), and his wife about how the prices were, he asked them if they felt better knowing how things worked. HELLO!? How the hell could anyone feel better after finding out that they are all s-c-r-e-wing you big time!!

I watched a program the other day and they were talking about the U.S health care. I knew it was bad, but I just didn't realize HOW BAD! I could not believe my ears. They were saying that you needed to shop around when buying your drugs and when you pick a hospital to go to.

They were saying that there can be a 20% to 40% difference in what you are paying for your drugs! One place can charge you around $75 for an antibiotic and another will only be around $10 for the same one! That is absolutely ridiculous!! They are stealing you blind! I can not believe that they can get away with that. Here, in British Columbia, you might see a slight difference in price from place to place, but that's it.

And as for the hospitals, they were saying that one hospital charged aroung $15,495 for an apendectomy and $15,995 for a freakin' broken leg! Another hospital it was $9,000. What is wrong with your country? It is out of control! One man had a broken leg and waited a couple of days before going to the hospital because of how much it was going to cost!

All you people that think that your health care is okay, you are freakin' mentally retarded! You have been BRAINWASHED!

I see you're still roaming the boards and trashing Americans every chance you get. Most people do not think their insurance coverage is okay, especially those who don't have any. That doesn't mean they can just jump up and change it. Kinda like those mentally retarded people you reference. They really can't change it either. You might try thinking a bit before you go around insulting people. Particularly when this has nothing to do with you.

We can NOT continue to pay the cost for health care we've been paying and I will support NO POLITICIAN who does NOT go along with a Public Plan as an option. This has gone on now for 60 years, Big Business in Health Care, using Scare Tactic's and stalling to stop a Nation Health Plan... that is long enough. As far As I'm concerned the Confederate Party isn't even in the mix here. They have NEVER, not ONCE, done anything to help with Medical Care in this nation so they should be kicked to the curb as we move forward.

The deal, expected to be announced later in the day, marked a major triumph for Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., as well as the administration. (fm article)
----------------------------
A major triumph?! Baloney! The industry comes in and says, 'this is the MOST we are willing to do! And if it isn't good enough, we will work to see you lose your next election'!

What this deal ENSURES, is that Americans will CONTINUE to pay TOO MUCH for their prescription drugs! Period.

Mr. Baucus and the Obama administration should be ashamed of themselves
for even considering accepting "this deal"! It amounts to a 'sellout' of
the American public!

IF this is all that industry is willing to do, then the government should seriously consider NATIONALIZING it! Because it's charges to Americans are monumentally exorbitant and it's clear they have no desire or willingness to cooperate and bring their prices down to a reasonable level!

Big Pharma is out to bankrupt Medicare and with drugs forced on the public like statin drugs that have no real benefits to the patients is a real problem. The Cholesterol Scam is truly "The Scam of the Century". Posted by Baileyccc
