Cigarettes kill. It's a known fact. They should be banned.

If a large group of people continued to poke themselves in the eye with an ice pick, the government would ban ice picks. Unless, of course, there was tax revenue at stake...

Guess what? Alcohol kills, Drugs kill, Cars kill, Idiots with guns kill, crap even food kills. They are all still legal. Get off your soap box and leave freedom alone.

Really where can I find that law? Oh it is not written in a law? If not then your statement is invalid. Just because some people feel that way does not make it the law of the land. Just like universal healthcare, to be true it has to be written into law, and that requires a certain number of votes in congress.
Nowhere in the Constitutuin, Declaration, or in the laws of the land does it say one has a responsibility to your neighbors. you may have an obligation to show respect (respecting their privacy, their property, ect) but you have no obligation to take care of them.

And BTW, it pisses me off when people will stand there and scream freedom of choice for abortion or gay marriage or drugs and then turn around and say "but you cant smoke". Hello, freedom is freedom whether you like the personal choice or not.

At least you are consistent. Good for you.

I am for personal freedom, period. There should not be this much control of personal aspects of our lives. I accept the fact that my personal choices come with personal responsibilities. I do not want to be told where, when or how I should conduct my personal life. This is supposed to be a free country.

Lets see how far your "freedom" philosophy goes.

Make prostitution legal? Legalize all drugs? Abortion is OK with you?

You funny. I am all for legal abortions. Legal Marijuana go for it. Prostitution would be better controlled if it were handled more in line with what Nevada does. We have too MUCH control over peoples lives as it is, we do NOT need more.

WastingtonDC: If you throw in the millions of foreigners we have killed, and are killing, with cigarettes, along with the millions of us veterans who paid ten cents per pack, a dollar a carton for cigarettes during our first ten years in the military, but haven't sickened yet, the carnage will equal the carnage of the world wars, within another generation or two. It is high time to buy out the tobacco industry, changing them over to less murderous products, whatever the cost. The medical care costs for the millions of each generation that die from smoking, contribute to the medical cost disaster that is hamstringing our country. Lets bite the bullet, and buy the tobacco companies out now, millions of innocent lives will be lost, if the industry continues to exist, in any form.
