I think a $1.5 billion dollars allocation to "fight" this---is at this point---WAY too much!

Start out with a simple $100 million, and pass allotments as necessary! Also, it doesn't do much good to make vaccines if this virus is CONSTANTLY mutating! Let's use a little common sense here! Also, you DON'T shut the country down and isolate everyone at home!
It doesn't merit that type of EXTREME response.

Finally, do the basics: warn/inform the public. Attack 'pockets' of population where it occurs.
Shutdown the borders and/or limit traffic across it, through aggressive screening. And treat individuals as necessary. Beyond that---don't incite PANIC!

I know 'panic' was fashionable under Bush/Cheney, but let's get beyond that, shall we?!

Fellow citizens, we now know why this lethal strain of swine flu is spreading so quickly.

It is being spread by asymptomatic carriers. This means that unlike a normal flu, which is usually only contagious when someone starts sneezing and coughing, this flu is spread before anyone has any symptoms.

So it has been spreading like wildfire because people are walking around for one to three days spreading the disease before they even know they're sick. The best known case in history of asymptomatic contagion is Typhoid Mary.

Therefore the only way to limit contagion is social separation. This means all travel in and out of the country must be stopped, all schools must immediately be shut down, public gatherings must be canceled, no one should be going to work, and in fact no one should leave their homes unless absolutely necessary.

I know these seem like drastic measures, and they are, but it is the only way to stop the spread of asymptomatic contagion. And if we all do this for just a month, we will greatly limit the spread of this virus.

The reason the CDC is not telling you this is because they have two conflicting priorities. One is to stop panic, and the other is to protect public health. But unfortunately they always choose to attempt to stop panic over protecting public health for financial reasons. And it always backfires.

So please, do everything you can to separate yourselves from others, and in fact you should only go out now to get whatever supplies you need to survive for a month.

And do not be fooled by those more concerned with money than you or your loved ones health. This is an extremely serious situation, and it is time to think for yourselves, and do what you know is right, not what the CDC knows is wrong, but will tell you anyway simply to keep the flow of cash going to as great a degree as possible.

And finally, this is not just SearingTruth speaking, I have spoken to multiple health officials this morning who agree, but cannot speak out publicly because the law only allows them to repeat what the CDC tells them to.

The regulars on this forum know that I am apolitical, and only desire what is best for all the citizens of our earth. So once again, I plead with you, heed my warning, and protect yourselves, and your children.

And WHY does the GOVERNMENT need $1.5 billion to fight this flu that has been around for years and has killed 30,000 people a year all over the planet?

Seems like we already have medications to deal with it...

And who in their right mind would subject their child to a hastily manufactured vaccine?

Not anybody in the US has even died from it yet, for pete's sakes!

These stupid whining god fearing nation was panicking, moaning, running in circles, complaining that nothing would be done. Now something is done, they whine again.

And know the facts before you open your mouth. 30.000 people die every year on normal flue.

the sentence with a hastily manufachtured vaccine is just S T U P I D. They can only start to work on a vaccine after they found out how this virus has mutated. But it needs weeks, if not month to get a vaccine for this type of virus. A lot of research is going into this.

60 people catch a cold and this guy Obama sneezes out another $1.5BIL?

Read the article. This is not an ordinary flu virus. It is affecting healthy people in the 30s and 40s. A vaccine or a flu shot does not exist for it yet. It is spreading very quickly and all the governments are working furiously to contain it. World Health Organization have raised the alert level to Phase 4.

And, you are complaining that Obama is trying to do something about it?
If 6000 people got affected instead of 60 or if someone died, you would complain how he is weak and cannot protect American people.

This danger is real and everyone in the world recognizes it unlike Bush's WMDs in Iraq

Mr. Obama sent a letter to lawmakers asking them for an emergency spending plan to build drug stockpiles and monitor future cases. He said the money will also help international efforts to battle the flu.

He also said There is absolutely no need for the American People to panic as I have taken every preventive measure to assure that this pandemic situation will not develop into an epidemic and life threatening situation for the People. AND even if it DID you can TRUST ME & CONGRESS that this WILL not happen AGAIN or Again or........

All we're asking from the People is to go out and increase your personal spending on junk, trash, an environmental unfriendly items. Spending more cash for more trash to dispose of on Our Planet. Batteries, Tires, Beer & Soda Cans, Plastic disposables, etc. It is imperative that we find ways fool the people into buying more cars, appliances, while we find ways for the banks, credit card & mortgage companies to charge excessive higher & hidden fees on you the people to help pay off our National Debt. Together, like it or not, you're going to get it in the end.

Please note that U.S. manufacturers, including major drugmakers, have legally released at least 271 million pounds of pharmaceuticals into waterways that often provide drinking water - contamination the federal government has consistently overlooked, according to an Associated Press investigation.

Alot of viruses and diseases can be prevented by just washing your hands and not rubing your eyes or touching your face. Here's a cenario, you touch a handle that has the flu or virus on it, you then touch your eyes or another part of your face. The virus will get into these areas. It is very important to wash your hands or at least have hand sanitizer when you know you are going to be in a public place. It is very easy to avoid these germs by washing or sanitizing. If you don't have the resources to do either of these things, don't eat with your hands or touch your face until you can wash. It does work. Everyone in my home was sick and I didn't get it because of good sanitary precautions.
