It is simply amazing to me how so many bloggers have used a disease outbreak as a way to vent their political frustrations one way or another. About the disease- it will be a pandemic and will run its course, but most people will be OK, due to vaccines and other common sense preventions and treatment. There will be a toll on elderly and poverty-stricken groups around the world. The pattern of spreading of the disease will serve as a forewarning of how a truly lethal pandemic will someday affect global population groups, as it has already illustrated the futility of trying to prevent the spread of a truly virulent disease. By the time the threat is recognized, it will already be in every corner of the earth, as it is today. As for this swine flu, be glad it is not the air-borne killer that is coming in the near future.

SINNERS REPENT NOW!
God has sent this pestilence throughout the world to smite sinners! If people stop sinning the disease will stop spreading!

As though ANYTHING could stop the spread of a contagious disease.
You can not contain them. The simple reason is that for every person infected with Swine flu who shows symptoms, there are at least 10 more who will never know they had it........And can spread the disease or any other flu just as easily.
Remember the SARS scare? The only reason it didn't have the impact the "Spanish Flu" of 1918-1919 had was it's relative difficulty in spreading. SARS was contagious and it killed nearly a quarter of those who showed symptoms but it was nowhere nearly as contagious as any of the H1N* series of viruses.
They are among the most contagious pathogens on earth. Anyone who thinks such primative quarantine measures as border closures and airline cancellations can stop the spread of such a virus is dreaming. These critters are hardy and can remain dormant for years. Viral particles can be carried great distances by air currents to infect people miles away from the source. The best quarantine can do is slow down the spread a little, nothing man can do will be able to stop it entirely. Especially if the outbreak has been festering as long as WHO believes it has.
No, your best defense against such a pathogen in the absense of antiviral medications of which there is a hopelessly inadequate supply and they don't work all that well, anyway; are these:
Good nutrition, moderate exercise, drink LOTS of water, be well rested, avoid stress - as much as possible, and practise good elementary common sense hygiene. If you get sick anyway do not be a hero, take to your bed and stay there.

It is still very puzzling that all of a sudden a type B virus that has been killing about 30,000 people all over the planet for years...all of a sudden becomes a pandamic explosion the week after the Dumbama America Sucks Campaign cabal has managed to destroy US intelligence gathering capabilities, threatened to release pictures, and promoted hatred for Americans all over the planet in a manner equivalent to the actions of an immature spoiled brat sociopathic degenerate sitting in our White House!

Nice distraction created by your perception management team, Dumbama!!!

Too bad Americans have already woken up to your soliciting and promoting hatred for Americans with your actions!

If the truth were to be known the death count is in the high thousands or maybe over 10,000 deaths, they will keep this number under control for economic reasons.
BailleyCC

How do you know this?

And since when are peoples diets poor in mexico?

They eat better'n we do!

You have never been to Mexico, or had a conversation with a Mexican have you?

Yeah, its rough in the country, Ill admit, but Mexico city is a cosmopolitan international city with renowned museums and universities, churches, ancient monuments, etc..

The population is middle class.

Generalizing about Mexico City is not as easy as generalizing about Mexico the country.

Earlier, I said Mexico was a third world country, but thats mostly true deep down south near guatemala, and in the far country in the middle..

Then I realized that this outbreak was motly in Mex. City..

So that is strange..

Why so many deaths in Mexi but not elsewhere?

The more I think about this the more i think a government like Mexico is behind it. If the truth were to be known the death count is in the high thousands or maybe over 10,000 deaths, they will keep this number under control for economic reasons. These poor Mexicans are easy candidates for disease because of their poor diets and low immune systems. It is the perfect breeding ground for such a catastrophe. Posted by Baileyccc

Why people are so scared? Flue is not new, but there seems to be a lot of pigs that may be scared.

People are even wearing mask, how sad life as become that even living is becoming so hard because off a over population, pollution, the flesh eating diet, environmental conditions like desertification, and deforestation that with such pigs we live with we must suffer another calamity...Now it is Pigs, but before it was birds. It may become the global pig crisis.

american_11-2009 , you are making things up to fuel your burning hatred of brown people,
there was a fact finding report on NPR, where it stated that the few illegals able to get mortgages were least likely to default, in fact they were the group who were
actually doing better at holding on to their homes.

"and why it's only killing people in Mexico."

Give it time, and people will die here soon too from it.

"He said it was likely the virus would continue to spread around the world in the short term, as efforts to limit cross-border travel had failed to halt the disease."

But of course, when you have idiots who have a "cold" and JUST HAVE TO hop on a plane to go visit aunt Millie 4 states over, infecting people on the plane, the ticket clerk, the boarding clerk, the taxi driver and baggage handler, it's going to be spread far and fast.
Of course the chilrun and teacher just HAD to go for a trip to Meixico, caught it there and brought it back here.

Lets see, they won't close the border for the drug and gun problem, and now they won't close it to stop an epidemic.
You would think that would be elementary,if you were really serious about protecting your citizens safety.

Ok the border is closed. Now who is stoipping the flights from around the world from landing and keeping those infected from spreading it.

Why didn't you stop the flights while you were at it?I appreciate your effort, though.
