I suppose that if someone had classified this as a "potential terrorist attack," we could have waterboarded farmers and food distributors to find out where the salmonella came from...and then the evidence could be thrown out in court.

OK, so 14 cases in 1 week out of how many million peppers eaten in this country? And I should be scared? I think I have a better shot at the lottery than getting food poisoning. Get a grip people!!!!

it''s summer my friends, grow your own peppers, and you''re safe. can''t give up that salsa!!! we''ve got two varieties going, and many tomatoes, as the FDA took their sweet time with that false positive. with the economy the way it izz, growing your own veggies is easy and economical, and healthier, clearly!!

Burns twice.

So is it in the pepper, or on the pepper? Can you wash it off, or is it part of the genetic make up?

it used to be called Montezuma''s Revenge, in Mexico they fertilize fruts and vegetables with human feces. Their bodys are used to it Americans aren''t. Don''t drink the water and don''t eat anything that they grow.

I''m not giving up my fresh salsa. The government has a very bad track record. They have no credibility with me.

"How does salmonella get into Jalapenos ?"

seems like a good question, but we do not know. As the article says, they are investigating the grower, the pacer, the shippers, to try to find the source...

Hot peppers, for those of you disparaging them, are normally a very healthy addition to ones diet. They contain capsaicin. Do a search.

The pepper question comes from Mexico, but the FDA says the contamination could have come from anywhere, such as infected soil, water, packing boxes or even contact with other produce in Mexico or the U.S., Cordes reports.

Yeah, right. They are just scared to death their precious NAFT will be criticized if they tell the truth. That is why stuff is cheaper in Mexico. They work their people with no benefits, no health care, and they don''t have the types of inspections in place that we expect here in the US. Americans are going to have to decide. Do they want cheap, or do they want safe. We have seen what we have been getting out of China. Lead paint on children''s toys, poison pet food, etc.
