So, now the hospital has a multimillion dollar machine and addition they need to pay for. Is the cost divided up amongst the people who use the MRI machine? No, it%u2019s divided up among EVERYONE! The mom who had a natural birth, the family of the kid who stepped on a piece of glass and needed stitches in his foot, the little old lady with pneumonia and the psych case who needed a padded room; all these share in the cost of that new MRI.

I can%u2019t help but wonder how hard these health care facilities are trying to keep costs down. For most of us, we need to ask ourselves %u201Cis this expenditure really necessary?%u201D before we buy our new toys, add on to our houses etc. Maybe our health care providers need to do the same thing.

Case in point: A local hospital used to be served by a mobile MRI machine. The truck would come several half days a week and appointments were made to see them. If it was an emergency, they were taken by ambulance or helicopter to a larger hospital. It was decided they were going to get their own machine at the cost of millions and millions for the addition plus a new machine and now the machine and room sits empty several half days a week plus the people who are in bad shape still get medivaced out because their treatment is going to be more complex than the hospital can handle.

One of the reasons for the expensive American HealthCare cost is there is no Preventive Care since everyone and our Government cannot afford it. Every study prove that preventive care pays in the long run.

There is Absolutely no Investment for the Future of America.

Profit now and let the future generation figure out how to pay for it.

Capitalism got no Heart by design. Any HealthCare system requires a Heart or we get what we have here in America.

lovegetpeace, there is your top five of life expectancy. Wow, only one industrialized nation and that one, being Japan, is a country that has a much heathier lifestyle than the USA, i.e. eating better, (when was the last time you saw a fat Japanese person), exercise (wonder where Tai Chi came from), etc. As to the USA being at a competitive disadvantage, I wonder why we still are the top of the list in regard to GNP (gross national product since I thought that you might not know that)in the world. You really need to move back to that country you came from because I would hate to continue to have to see you suffer here in the US. By they way are you even legal, do you have a job that pays taxes, or are you one of the freeriders adding to the cost of health care.
