I WISH I KNEW HOW TO MAKE THESE WORDS REACH EVERY PARENT IN THE WORLD WITH A VACCINE INJURED CHILD OR EVEN FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE CONSIDERING GETTING OR NOT GETTING THEIR CHILD VACCINATED...AS OF 2004, OUR CHILDREN ARE GETTING 51 VACCINES BY THE AGE OF 6 MONTHS..AND 77 VACCINES BY SCHOOL AGE. THESE ARE NOT ACTUAL JABS OF A NEEDLE, BUT MOST OF THOSE JABS CONTAIN APROX. 3 VACCINES EACH.AND IF YOUR CHILD IS GETTING THE FLU VACCINE EVERY YEAR, THAT RAISES THE # FROM 77 TO 95 BY THE TIME THEY START SCHOOL. AND THE GOV. WANTS TO AD ANOTHER 20 VACCINES BY THE YEAR 2010.
ALSO, IT''S NOT JUST THE MERCURY THAT WE NEED TO WORRY ABOU..IT''S ALSO THE ALUMINUM..WHICH BY THE WAY IS STILL IN ALL DTP SHOTS, AS WELL AS HEPB, HIB AND PREVNAR. A LOT OF THESE VACCINES THAT ARE "REQUIRED" SHOULDN''T EVEN ME BECAUSE THE DISEASES THEY ARE MADE FOR HARDLY EVEN EXIST ANYMORE!! I SUGGEST DOING THE RESEARCH ON ALL VACCINES..GETING THE ONES YOU WANT YOUR KID TO HAVE, AND FILLING OUT A MEDICAL EXEMPTION FORM FOR THE REST..WHICH EVERY STATE HAS, BUT WON''T TELL YOU ABOUT UNLESS YOU FORCE THE ISSUE...LOOK IT UP

"Ok, so then here''''s the other side of the coin, you didn''''t get your kid *ANY* vaccinations at all, and one day when he was 5 he contracts polio and is permanently disabled and needs breathing devices for life, THEN how would you feel about the vaccine!
Hindsight is always great."
newster1: this is a red herring, for 2 reasons.
(1) Once the connection between vaccines and ASD etc is acknowledged & looked at in depth, kids who have genetic vulnerability to them (eg kids with low glutathione levels) can be screened & treated for that vulnerability.
(2) Even if some kids can''t handle various vaccines, it''s not as if there aren''t treatments avbl for the ch. diseases, that don''t have the damnable side effects to them that vaccines have. Eg, large doses of vitamin C can successfully treat polio; vitamin A/cod liver oil can treat measles; colloidal silver can treat the DPT triad; the list goes on, of natural anti-virals and -bacterials, that we have lost awareness of for various reasons - and which use of also has the felicity of letting children have the ch. diseases to mature their immune systems & give them lifelong immunity, that females can then pass on to their babies, to protect them in the early stages before their own i.s. can kick in. And so forth, to say: Vaccines need to be sorted out acc. to their true risks-vs-benefits. That''s a refinement long overdue.

I just wish I had more info on the shots they tell you your children NEED to have.

Posted by robindip"

And what would more info have done? people are given all sorts of info and warning, you go for surgery in the hospital you sign a release that says you may have a small chance of being injured or even die, with lasik they tell you you may have permanent eye damage, how many go ahead and sign and get it done anyway?

Ok, so then here''s the other side of the coin, you didn''t get your kid *ANY* vaccinations at all, and one day when he was 5 he contracts polio and is permanently disabled and needs breathing devices for life, THEN how would you feel about the vaccine!

For 20 years I have told everyone my son got Autism from the shots he got when he was a baby, I told the health department I was not sure that he needed all of those shots, I was told if he didn''t have all of his shots he would not be able to go to school. It was the biggest mistake of my life and my sons life. He was so happy before his shots, always a smile, He was talking. Little did I know I would not hear him say mom for 6 years, little did I know my son would still be wearing dippers when he was 9, little did I know he could hit his head so hard on the floor, little did I know at 3 he was a master of all locks. I took Robert in to get his hearing checked, it was fine, I had so many test done on my little boy, I wanted someone to tell me what was wrong, why he was in his own little world. The doctors keep telling us he was fine. I got ahold of the school and had them test Robert, he was diagnose at 18 months old he had Autism, my 1st words to them where " Whats Autism?" I had never heard of it. Robert was the youngest child to be diagnoset with autism in our school district. Robert started school at 19 months old he went 3 days a wk for 2 hours a day, then it increased from their. It has been a long 20 years, Robert graduated high school in 2007 with awards in computers. Hes doing good, he works 3 days a week at a pizza place, a friend of mine owns it, so she gave Robert a job helping out. I just wish I had more info on the shots they tell you your children NEED to have.

Well it so happens that the Wikipedia article titled "MMR vaccine controversy" conveniently provides 60-70 links to those papers, so I could easily access and read them.

That''s the problem. Anyone can read.
How many doctors have you talked to? How many clinics have you visited? How many wet labs have you walked into? How many people have you spoken with from CAN, FEAT, The M.I.N.D. Institute?
How many IEP''s have you attended? How many behaviorists have you interviewed?

It''s easy to sit in an office behind a computer and pretend you''ve done the work. I hope to God you are telling you''re students that life''s answers go way beyond the classroom. Even at "national research universities."

I can''t believe that there are still people out here who believe - truly or merely tactically - that vaccines don''t have any connection with ASD. They constantly refer to 2 main arguments: (1) the incidence of ASD has continued to increase even after thimerosal has been taken out of most vaccines; and (2) epidemiological studies show no link. As to (1): they''ve moved the goal posts in regards to the definition of ASD, thus confusing the numbers; and (2) it''s pure cynicism to use just epid. studies, which can be manipulated easily to get the numbers you want. What the authorities should have been engaging in is clinical studies, and toxicological studies - if they had wanted the real truth of the matter, rather than just their expedient ''truth'' in order to preserve the vaccine program. That program is long overdue for reform, both in the safety of various vaccines & in their scheduling. That necessary reform has been blocked by these obfuscatory stonewalling tactics. It''s an outrageous story, that WILL be heard, because the truth WILL out, through the dedication of now more than a generation of parents who won''t settle for less. And blessings to them on their battle.

My comment isn%u2019t exactly on the immunizations.

I have fraternal twins with Autism. My husband and I have researched our family trees and there is no ASD history in our family line. We have 4 children total, a 12, twin boys 10 next week, and an 8. Our 12 and 8 are not Autistic. The twins were diagnosed at the age of 2 = we showed no signs prior to 18 months.

The twins have very limited speech; they will respond to their names but won%u2019t say them. One of my sons crawls out the window to go outside while we are sleeping. The other, has gotten into the kitchen and has accidentally turned on the gas burner. We have sought help from different organizations for help with some updates for our home only to be turned down stating that our sons are not at a safety risk or there is no funding for that type of disorder. We%u2019ve done our best with our limited resources to keep the family safe but with every safety measure we do, it creates a different safety concern. To stop our one son from climbing out the window, we%u2019ve had to bolt them shut. To keep the other out of the kitchen, we%u2019ve had a door that locks installed. These measures to keep them safe, creates a fire safety issue.

Whatever the out come of the recent developments involving immunizations, the families that have children with ASD still need help getting through everyday life.

Nice try Einstein, but you''re just belying your ignorance with that comment (or your laziness in not checking out the Wiki website I mentioned). By literature I meant the primary scientific literature - journals like the New England Journal of Medicine, Pediatrics and the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders. How do I know about these journals and what they publish, given that this isn''t my area of research specialization, you ask in wonderment? Well it so happens that the Wikipedia article titled "MMR vaccine controversy" conveniently provides 60-70 links to those papers, so I could easily access and read them. I hope NEJM, Pediatrics et al. are sufficiently high-brow for you.

Now as to your point about funding, the research in the papers I looked at was funded by a variety of sources including the CDC, the NIH and the British National Health Service. None of the papers I looked at were funded by the pharmaceutical industry. I hope this helps alleviate some of your paranoia.

I think it''s great that these families have found lawyers willing to take on our government, even though every attorney I talked too told me that I''d be wasting my time going to court. My son was diagnosed with Autism, ADHD and O.D.D. for almost 2 years now. My son is 6 and has the mental capabilities of a 3 1/2 year old. He is in a speacial needs class at school. In my opinion, the government and President Bush needs to stand up and admit that the vaccines cause Autism in children and pay for their mistakes.

MY SON IS NOW 15 HE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH AUTISM IN MIDDLE SCHOOL BUT ONLY AFTER I HAD HIM EVALUATED OUTSIDE THE SCHOOL SYSTEM. WHEN HE WAS FIRST BORN UNTIL HE WAS ABOUT 1 1/2 HE WAS 2 MONTHS AHEAD OF MOST KIDS ON EVERY LEVEL WHEN HE HIT ELEMETERY SCHOOL I WAS TOLD HE WAS ADHD/LD AND THEY WANTED TO PUT HIM ON MEDS FOR IT I REFUSED AND HE DID FINE K-5 ONLY PROBLEM HE WAS 2 YEARS BEHIND HIS PEERS AS HE HAS GOTTEN OLDER AND NOW IN HIGH SCHOOL HE IS 4 YEARS BEHIND ACADEMICLY . HE IS A VERY BRIGHT CHILD AND LOVES COMPUTERS BUT AT AGE 15 NOW HE HAS A READING SKILL OF A 3RD GRADER AND A MATH SKILL OF A 2ND GRADER. AUTISM IS A HUGE PROBLEM AND NONE OF THE SCHOOLS ARE TRAINED TO RECOGNIZE IT I''M SURE THERE ARE MANY MORE OUT THERE LIKE ME THAT WERE DIAGNOSED TOO LATE. THE SHOT SCHEDULE IS VERY DIFFERENT NOW THAN IT WAS 20YRS AGO AND MORE OF THEM NO WONDER THERE IS SUCH A HIGH NUMBER OF KIDS WITH AUTISM. I SAY WE NEED TO GO BACK TO THE OLD SCHEDULE AND END THIS PROBLEM FOREVER STOP EXPERIMENTING WITH OUR KIDS HALF OF THE SHOTS GIVEN TO THESE KIDS ARE FOR ILLNESSES THEY MAY NEVER GET WITH OR WITHOUT IT IE. THE CICKEN POX SHOT I HAD CHICKEN POX IN HIGH SCHOOL . IF OUR KIDS GET IT THEY WILL BE JUST FINE AS WE WERE . SOME THINGS ARE BETTER LEFT ALONE.

Okay, so if that argument is persuasive to you then so should all the published epidemiological studies (cited by the CDC and NAS in their written opinions) showing no statistical link between MMR vaccine and autism. In other words, there are these other factors (like genetics) and no demonstrated causal connection between vaccination and autism.

Posted by rational_1 at 06:18 PM : May 12, 2008

And who paid for these studies? Wouldn''t expect you do do any real research on this topic.

Nope, large national research university. And I don''''t base my opinions on Wikipedia - I use it as a quick starting point to the literature in an area I''''m not familiar with. If you''''d actually gone to that article you''''d have seen the many papers in the primary literature that directly address the MM/vaccine link. I''''ve read a couple this afternoon - maybe you should too. But then again it would have taken away from all the time you spent coming up with that witticism.

What is fluoride?

Fluoride acids are among the most corrosive chemicals known. The fluoridation chemicals used in public water supplies are waste products of the phosphate fertilizer industry. If the industry wasn''t permitted to dump this waste product into our drinking water, they''d have to dispose of it as hazardous waste.

Fluoride exposure has been linked to many health problems, including hip fractures, neurological damage, ADD/ADHD, lead poisoning, Alzheimer''s Disease, birth defects, skeletal fluorosis, dental fluorosis, early onset of puberty, immune system suppression, bone cancer and other rare forms of cancer.

Dental Fluorosis: A Legal Time Bomb
by George Glasser

In the United States, there are no warnings posted on fluoride-laced products pertaining to the risks of ingesting too much fluoride or for those at risk from ingesting fluoride. Many dentists and pediatricians who prescribe fluoride supplements, dentists administering fluoride treatments and the manufacturers of fluoride-laced products do not inform people of the risks:
(1) Fluoride is poison; second only in toxicity to arsenic which is rated as the most toxic.
(2) The fluoride gel used for topical treatments contain concentrations as high as 12,000 ppm (parts per million), well above the probable lethal dosage for a child.
(3) A tube of toothpaste contains 1,000 to 1,500 ppm of fluoride which can be a lethal dose for young children.
(4) Many children and adults have allergic reactions to fluoride. The more notable reactions are: Restlessness/insomnia, nausea and swelling of the lips.
(5) People who have maladies such as: kidney ailments, HlV/AIDS, immunodeficiencies, diabetes and heart ailments are at risk from consuming fluoride-laced products and fluoridated water.
(6) The suspected geno-toxic, carcinogenic, and mutagenic effects from long term fluoride intake have not been disproved. Almost every research paper broaching the subjects calls for more research into those areas and states that the evidence of safety is "inconclusive and contradictory". The same scenario occurred with asbestos.

"The contents of a family size tube of fluoridated toothpaste is enough to kill a 25 pound child." Facts

HAVE YOU READ THE WARNING ON YOUR TOOTHPASTE LABEL LATELY?
Warning: Keep out of the reach of children under 6 years of age. If you accidentally swallow more than used for brushing, seek professional help or contact a poison control center immediately.

Three ingredients in toothpaste are considered dangerous. Fluoride is poisonous if taken internally, and Sorbitol and sodium lauryl sulfate can cause diarrhea, especially in children. As of April 7, 1997, all fluoride toothpastes and dental care products shipped must have a warning label stating that if more toothpaste is swallowed tha needed for brushing, a poison control center or health care professional should be contacted immediately.

My third child was diagnosed with autism when he was three; he%u2019ll be seventeen next week. Two older siblings and a younger were normal. Our son developed normally, meeting the milestones, developing speech, etc%u2026but, started regressing after a series of vaccinations around the age of eighteen months. Sixteen years ago there wasn%u2019t much information available about autism. He was checked for fragile X and for any brain abnormalities; none was found. After diagnoses we immediately got our son involved with programs which aided his learning, and helped him to mimic normal behavior. Dealing with any change in his life has been hard. We learned to help him be prepared for change by talking in advance about it; taking pictures of new classrooms, visiting the high school before his transfer etc. I wish I could heal my son; I can%u2019t. I pray for a cure, and hope researchers will solve the autistic puzzle so we parents don%u2019t question, %u201CWHY my child any longer%u201D.

this reminds me a lot of parvo. It is a Dog disease. Most muts can catch it and beat with no long term damage. Most pure breeds have a very hard time with it. If they do manage to survive they are often changed. In these cases it seems to be the high fever that is causing the brain damage in the dogs. The pure breeds seem to have weaker immune systems because of the inbreeding. This in turn causes hotter longer fevers thus more brain damage. I hope they figure it out.

Posted by cbscrash07"

That is totally FALSE, parvo and corona affect ALL dogs and is just as fatal to one as another, the reason you THINK It affects purebreds more is a dog that costs $1000 is more likely to be taken to the VET for treatment or diagnosis, while the mongrel is dumped, killed and isnt treated because Joe and Jane can get another free-to-a-good-home puppy from the classifieds rather than spending $1500+ on treatment.
The SAME mongrels never have hip problems either, they just go "lame" or get "arthritis" from "old age"- those arent the ones who are XRAYED or have $4,000 hip replacement surgery done.

Of course they have expiration dates. But many of these childhood vaccinations have long shelf lives--because there are preseveratives in them.

There are some vaccinations that expire very quickly. There are some that dont.
Posted by teeus"

The preservatives are to prevent mold and fungus growth not extend shelf life/freshness/potency. Define what YOU consider "long shelf life" 6 months? a year? 2?

Here''s some numbers while you think on that:

Shelf Life. Vaccine -- Up to 2 years.

FDA extends meningococcal vaccine shelf life to 35 days.

howed that the CBPP vaccine could be used within 4 months of production

Reconstituted vaccine can tolerate eight hours in refrigerator. Shelf life: 24 months

Pneumococcal Conjugate Pediatric Vaccine (7 Valent) Pneumococcal Conjugate Minimum Shelf Life: 12 months.

Since the thimerisol has been greatly reduced in vaccines since 1999- ALL of the vaccines before then have long expired- by at least 7 years,

Prior to its introduction in the 1930''s, data were available in several animal species and humans providing evidence for its safety and effectiveness as a preservative. Since then, thimerosal has a long record of safe and effective use preventing bacterial and fungal contamination of vaccines, with no ill effects established other than minor local reactions at the site of injection.

As a vaccine preservative, thimerosal is used in concentrations of 0.003% to 0.01%. A vaccine containing 0.01% thimerosal as a preservative contains 50 micrograms of thimerosal per 0.5 ml dose or approximately 25 micrograms of mercury per 0.5 mL dose. The use of mercury-containing preservatives in vaccines has declined markedly since 1999

Lets see -- the FDA limits mercury consumption in someones diet. Its also disallowed in mascara or in pet vaccinations. Were told not to play with the mercury in a broken thermometer. Yet, its okay to inject enough into a child between birth and three years that is something like 500 times the "safety" limit of a large-sized adult."

HOLD IT! you are totally confusing raw METALLIC LIQUID MERCURY with thimerisol which is a COMPOUND! It is only 49% mercury and they use an incredibly small amount in a vaccine 0.003% to 0.010%, or approximately 25 MICROGRAMS of mercury. You know what a MICROGRAM is? a microgram is 1/1,000,000th of one gram, it takes 28.3 grams to make one OUNCE.

Thermometers had the liquid mercury which if broken spills it out and creates a vapor that is breathed in, it also persists in the environment where it''s spilled and contaminates everything.

Thimerisol is a modified COMPOUND, from the FDA:

Thimerosal is a preservative that has been used in some vaccines since the 1930''s, when it was first introduced by Eli Lilly Company. It is 49.6% mercury by weight and is metabolized or degraded into ethylmercury and thiosalicylate.
