The doctor doing this study for the neocon think tank american enterprise institute is Dr Sally Satell. this is also the group who dreamed up the super highway from mexico to canada right thru our heartland allowing uninspected mexican vehicles to run on our highways. free trade at it''s worst. this think tank also wants a north american union dissolving our soverenty and doing away with our currency and going with something like the euro. - Reply to this comment

- So by the numbers, we have at least 1.5 million active duty military. So where are they? the numbers do not add up.

- At least there isn''t a story today about Cindy McCain''s tuna fish recipe.
Regarding PTSD: I don''t think it is possible to experience war or be close to the experiences of war without it affecting the psyche. I also think this message is getting through to VA health providers who I find to be as accommodating as they can be especially considering their work loads.

- Hey, lastdance, care to comment on the story at hand? 1 in 5 troops report mental disorders, but that''s the same a the adult population at large.
So, how is this a story? Or are you just here to continue talking about your song lyrics?

"Millions of vulnerable citizens struggle on a daily basis with mental disorders that undermine their present lives and imperil their future. To underscore the magnitude of this problem, according to Mental Health: A Report of the Surgeon General (U. S. Department of Health and Human Services [USDHHS], 1999), an estimated 20% of Americans ages 18 and older--1 in 5 adults--suffer from a diagnosable mental disorder in a given year. - "making up songs about cutting off heads and pedophile-like behaviour requires more
thinking about it than the average person is comfortable with.

Yep, that was a response to the songs lines YOU posted. So, are you trying to justify it out here in the open now? - Reply to this comment
- And in the civilian population, the statistics for mental disorders is the same, 1 in 5 of the adult population. So how is this a story?
The military is under a lot more stress, yet they have the same percentages. This should be put out as a POSITIVE story on the stability of the troops we have, yet CBullS spins it as bad news.

And where is the lie in that? CBullS has no way of knowing the age of anyone on these forums.

- Please. One in five? It''s a lot higher than that. One in five may be true in very specific, very technical terms based on some report somewhere, but over all it''s a lot higher.
Wait until 3 or 5 years after they''ve served. wait a decade later. Wait until the next war comes up and re-ignites everything in their heads they''ve been trying to deal with for years.
The Hollywood version of the stoic soldier who shoots up the bad guys, gets a bunch of medals and comes home to a parade and then becomes a successful business executive is a MYTH. Just like John Wayne was a myth--his real name was Marion Morrison, everything else was fabricated in Hollywood. He was never even in the military. It''s a lie.
What about all the people who''ve lost limbs, eyes, parts of their brain? What about all the people who won''t be able to sleep at night for years because they keep reliving killing people or seeing all the carnage and grotesque, sickening things that are commonplace in wars. Multiply that by all the multiple tours our service people have been subjected to or forced into and then you may have just a glimpse of the dismal chances of soldiers to live a functional life on a very basic level.
I know I still wake up at night 18 years later recalling sights and smells and sounds and tastes that keep me awake the rest of the night. - Reply to this comment

All I can say is that you, as a dancer, are the most persistent spin dancer on these forums. You must have an extremely boring life, having to save every statement I make. Then you try to spin them to support yout views.
Everything I state about you liberals is true, and I back them up with documentation.
Everything you present is mantra and dogma from the a$$es of Reid and Pelosi.
Present your facts to back up your arguments (which is impossible, as there are none to be found except in the blogs of the failed Air America network). - Reply to this comment

- The government has NOT changed the way it treats soldiers with PTSD since the Vietnnam era when they threw men out of the service on Personality Disorders (Chapter 8s, remember Klinger on MASH?) It saves them from having to give them medical care or pay them compensation, more than 22,000 have been discharged this way from the Army since the Iraq War started, for the years 2004 and 2005 the VA couldn''t see all the veterans that needed help because they were treating active duty soldiers at the VA mental health clinics, so they could get the medications right, and send the soldiers back to Iraq with a rucksack full of mood stabilizers, Zoloft, Valium etc, they were damgerous to themselves and the soldiers next to them.
