- "Has your company ever illegally slaughtered, processed, or sold a downer cow?" Stupak asked.
"I didn''t think we had sir," Mendell said.
This fella couldn''t even answer the question directly with a yes or no. He''d be a good politician. - Reply to this comment
- *** does Bush have to do with this, moonbat?
Posted by easeup
Ok easeup, I''ll give you a free civics lesson! The meat industry is regulated by the USDA (Dept of Agriculture), they are responsible for inspections of meat processing plants! The head of the USDA is appointed by the President, who happens to be George W. F-ing Bush! Get it, BOZO! Instead of the USDA finding the problem, it was discovered by an animal rights group! Thats *** Bush has to do with it, you MORON! - Reply to this comment
- I would like to know where he bought beef at 1.25 a # it is about 1.50 for the best possible beef and same for the pigs here in central tx if you can find it and then it about .75 a # to slaughter and cut and freeze over in Johnson City still it is about 2.25 a # for the beef or pig frshe meats.
I do agree it is best to buy the beef or pig and have it slaughter as the meat is then processed and the artifical water is not implanted and the meat is much tender and taste a world of differences a pound of store biought meat has 6 to 8 ounces of water injected the bacon alone has 5.5 oz of water by pound which is the allowable amount by our grand USDA. The link saugage and pan saugage from the pig or beef are a 100% better and taste a lot better over all.
As a child we slalughter our own but not we can not as the city will not allow it so it is the slaughter house for us.
One has to try it to appreciate the difference.

- The Republicans made conforming to regulations VOLUNTARY, with self-inspections. Which means no regulations at all. Every tooth in every federal regulatory agency has been pulled. That''s why nothing works, and nothing is safe. But they LOVE AMERICA !

While I''m not disagreeing, I think this is the biggest reason that people like Steve Mendell should GO TO JAIL. He is at the top of a responsibility chain. When the failure happens he denies it until confronted with the actual evidence. All he does is bow his head, act sorry and say 222 people will lose their jobs. What is his responsibility and liability? Everyone in the chain of responsibility should be just that... responsible both ethically and legally.

- "Our company is ruined. We cannot continue," Mendell said. Some 220 employees have lost or are about to lose their jobs"
_______________
Wah, Wah, Wah.
I am glad they are ruined. If you think those 220 employees have any sense of compassion or know the difference between right and wrong, then you are dreaming. The whole lot of them are a nasty bunch. It''s payback time baby!! Now all westland meat employees will cry in their vegetable soup. I hope their lives are a living nightmare. That is what they deserve, every last one of them, from the top down.
And don''t rag on me. I don''t consume or wear anything that had eyes or ever had eyes, potatoes excluded. - Reply to this comment
- This is the biggest reason why everybody should support their local farmers. You don''''t have to give up eating meat, but you do have to quit buying from these agri-business conglomerates who have no soul and care nothing about your safety. Call your County Extension Agent to refer you to your local beef producers. Then get together with your friends and neighbors and buy a whole cow. Sure, it''''s a lot of meat, but you''''ll end up saving mega-bucks, and the meat will be of a higher quality and you don''''t have to worry about additives and humane treatment. The last time we bought beef on the hoof, our cost was $1.25 per pound and we also were able to specify which cuts and steaks we wanted. You can also control the amount of fat that goes into the burger. Forget about Hormel, forget about ConAgra. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL FARMER FOR BETTER HEALTH AND A BETTER QUALITY OF LIFE - IT''''S THE AMERICAN WAY.

Hey it was you guys who walked out on us! We the guys who ONCE cared about what was packed for the People were Busted, or our UNION was and you folks sat back and laughed in some cases. We''ll we insisted on Safety Standards and we insisted on paying people well so you didn''t have just anyone packing food. Those people who were paid well? They bought HIGH Quality Brands... Brands made by those Union Packers. Strange how that works huh? - Reply to this comment
- I can''t ever remember in my 60 years that we have been at greater risk in this nation. The Greed in our Government and in the Private Sector it beyond belief. I''ve come to the conclusion that these Greedy International Corporate Thugs could care less who they kill and the FDA is more in bed with them than they are with We the People. We manufacture NOTHING anymore and things that we used to manufacture are KILLING our kids. What ever happened to the Government OF the PEOPLE, BY the PEOPLE and FOR the PEOPLE. It honestly seems like our Government is now just a Corporate off shoot.
