This is sensationalism and irresponsible journalism at its worst... first, this is not new news... second, why should we not expect to find this... drugs are a part of our environment whether they are man made or naturally occurring... if you really want to do something interesting, count how many news articles are designed to scare us...

We need to know what effect composting and incineration toilets have on excreted pharmaceuticals. These have benefits over "water closets" that should encourage more installations, even if as a 2nd toilet in a home whose building code requires at least 1 water-flush toilet. Residents can prefer the alternative toilet. I hope CBS staff reads this and sends out the reporters.

It''s the "long term exposure of these Pharmas that we must worry about. Not each serving....

This is a good example of the media attempting to sensationize a subject, and panic people who don''t know any better. "...quantities of parts per billion or trillion"(!!) Yeah, I''m worried. (snort)

And where do you think bottled water comes from???

The problem I believe,,is we have not been able to keep up with modern technology. I''m not impressed with the so-called experts, either.
They tend to blather on about info,,then turn right around and say something like,,, that we don''t understand what they are talking about.. When clearly they understand very little themselves....

When people take medicine some gets absorbed by the body, but the leftovers end up getting flushed down the toilet and into the water supply.

And too,,,it wasn''t too long ago that the powers that be,,was telling people to dump any "unused" or "old" medecines down the toilet. I''m sure that didn''t help either. It''s guite possible that these so-called experts had no idea what they were talking about. As usuall!

This should be more of a concern to us than Global Warming. We can do something about this, and should do something. Like demand that water providers, screen, and filter these Pharmas out.

This may have something to do with early onset of Alzheimer''s? Maybe.......or other maladies.......

I think that the drugs in our water has already had a effect with trace amounts over a long period our body gets use to them and then when we take the drugs to fight infection our body says hey this is a normal part of the body and is why we have super bugs and mersa
