Comments on: FDA Warns Of Botox Death Risk
Anti-Wrinkle Drug Linked To Kids' Deaths In Rare Cases Where Toxin Spread Through Body
- I am glad that everyone feels so free to comment on all the self-absorbed, egotistical, appearance conscious people who "deserve" to suffer the consequences of using botox! How ignorant you sound. You have completely failed to put yourselves in the shoes of people who have been told by their doctors that botox is the best chance that their child with cerebral palsy will ever walk independently. This is not something that we parents choose to pursue because of vanity. Frankly, none of us want to have to make that decision at all. I did months and months of research regarding botox before deciding that my child might benefit from it. And guess what?? Just two weeks after the injections (from which she suffered absolutely no negative effects), my 3 1/2 year old finally was able to take her first steps. While this new information scares me, and I plan to research much more before I would consider doing it again, I wish people would not be so judgemental about things like botox, shooting their mouths off, when they don''t understand what they are talking about. You don''t know the whole story.

- What a surprise! Our FDA which approve this toxic substance is now telling us it can harm us. Just like a bad drug that makes 10 of billions of dollars then it is taken off the market. Refunds do not apply. Corruption at the highest level of health care. Big Pharma marchs on with sky high profits. The FDA needs a massive shake up.

- Xlib, you''re probably the only Bush lover left on here. They''re easy to spot because they always blame Clinton for everything that''s gone on in the last 8 years.
By the way, last time I checked, Clinton didn''t run the FDA into the ground the way Bush has. It''s barely safe anymore to eat food you buy at the grocery store. - Reply to this comment
- shanev137-so botox just started being used as of 1/20/01?? Is that a fact?? So now, this is Bush''s fault?? So when crappy things happened like,oh say, Waco, that was whose fault??? So when the USS Cole was attacked, whose fault was that? Do you know just how stupid you sound??

- Individuals who have such defective thoughts and needs as to go to Botox and other such ridiculous measures to change their appearance, have serious problems. All pharmaceuticals have adverse side effects and it''s obvious that these insecure, self-absorbed solipsists are entitled to the consequences of their decisions. I say give them all the Botox they want, and maybe a little extra for insurance.

- I never quite understood why infecting yourself with botulism in order to have your face resemble an eggshell was an option for intelligent people, anyway. If you have a new wrinkle, get over it, you, like the rest of the human race, really are getting OLDER!

- The FDA rolls up under The Department of Health and Human Services....which rolls up under who?
That''s right, you guessed it....Bush the Butcher.
But hey, feel all warm and fuzzy about people dying at the hands of the FDA....because you voted for him, not once, but twice. - Reply to this comment
- Botox has been a menace ever since it became a fashion accessory to men and women worried about wrinkles.
Public Citizen is right on the money, so to speak, with this warning to the FDA-- "Put the black box warning on the product!"
What kind of thinking ignores the obvious dangers of using one of the world''s deadliest poisons? Not even a black box warning, for fear of losing sales?
Botox as well as curare and other poisons have their uses in responsible medical therapy, but botox parties-- often physician/clinic sponsored-- must go.
Even if it hurts business. - Reply to this comment
