If the war on terror is real, those terrorists milling about in the Middle East will eventually move farther east. They''re already attacking India.

China should eventually be worried about Al Quaeda, but if the number of poisoned products continues (the Mattel toys'' magnets (but not the lead paint) and arguably this crib excluded because a designer may have more of the pertinent blame), global market consumers will rightly avoid China like they would the bubonic plague and the multinational companies will HAVE to relocate in order to save face. China is arguably in a worse position than the US thanks to deadly pet food, antifreeze-laden toothpaste, tainted human food, amongst other things...

Hang Bush, who you calling a redneck? Your name, alone, shows your liberal American-hating bias. If the beds had lead based paint on them, then could "us redneck Americans" complain without being called rascist? I bet not, cause you just naturally hate America first. Well, Americans can complain even if it''s misguided. I bet if Chinese complain, they get put in prison or shot. Don''t you remember Tienemen Square?

Erm, did you idiots actually read the actual news article, or are words just too difficult for you inbred rednecks to understand??

It is stated that "in all three deaths, the consumer had installed the drop-rail side of the crib upside down, the CPSC said."

The idiots (READ AMERICANS) installed the thing wrong now it is "CHINA''s FAULT" ?! ***??

And :

"The problem is the design flaws that the U.S. manufacturers designed into the product," Cowles said.

The fault lies in the design, which is designed by AMERICANS. YEP, AMERICANS. And yet the news blow it out of proportion to highlight China, which is unfair bias with racist overtone.

Does the world really NEED to do business with China?

The short answer in NO!

Corruption is a way of life over there and all those dumb U.S. companies thinking they would reap windfalls in profits by outsourcing to China are now taking it on the chin, and deservedly so!

To parrody a common cliche...

...China has made our bed, now we must lie in it.

(Oh, there are so many inferences that can be drawn from that statement above)!

We need to realize that we, as consumers, have it in our own power to demand higher standards to protect our safety and our jobs.

I think that at this point, babies are safer if parents just put their babie''s mattress on the floor.

Seriously, we need to boycott things made in China, but then Walmart would just lie to us again. Remember when Walmart bragged that everything they sold was ''made in America''? Then Walmart got busted.

I love how they put "Chinese-Made" in the headline, just to get people all riled up. Probably 95% of consumer items are Chinese-made anyway.

Every year, China donates to the Republican and Democratic parties. Perhaps that explains why nothing is being done to correct this problem.

Simple...stop buying Mattell. Stop being so cheap...pay a couple bucks for a better, safer product. Everyone whines about the manufacturers...stop buying their product and see what happens. Stop being so cheap and greedy and do something about it.

The people will yell and scream but go right out and buy at Walmart but I have to say we sometimes can''t tell if Made In China is on all products but everything at Walmart just about comes from China

Don''''t worry - Americans.
Be happy - Americans.
Be proud - Americans - enjoy everything labeled "Made in China" - (pet) food, (auto) tires, (baby) cribs...etc.
Foreign goods and labor are "Good for you"!
Americans - repeat after me - goods and labor "from China" are "Good for you"!
Be sure to thank GWB - all these wonderful things/events happened under his watch!
A little bit toe tapping/dancing here and there - "Happy days are here again"!
Isn''''t life grand?
Thank you - GWB - you make our lives complete!

I should say "boycott all China made products".

Good luck- EVERYTHING is made in China now, better actually read ALL the labels on every part. Their economy is BOOMING, the Euro is BOOMING while the US dollars sinks to $1.40 for 1 Euro, we are now like Canada was to the USA for the exchange rate- thanks to BUSH.

"poisonous detachable magnets"
ibsteve2u

Magnets are not ''poisonous'', the danger comes from swallowing TWO or more which attract one another thru the intestinal walls and can cause problems.

"In all three deaths, the consumer had installed the drop-rail side of the crib upside down, "

Darwin awards for all three please, at least since stupidity and failure to read instructions is genetic, they can''t pass along their STUPIDITY genes to those 3 who will in turn grow up and do things like drinking anti-freeze thinking it''s cool-aid because it''s green.

My 3rd grand child will be born in December. New parents please ask the help of your parents or grandparents to put those new baby items and toys together. Unless your mechanically inclined you may make a tragic mistake. Read the directions and if it doesn''t seem right go back to an older adult for help. Your parents and grandparents were young once, too. My granddaughter told me she wouldn''t buy from a thrift store or yard sale because she wanted her baby to be safe. Now we all have to be cautious of what we buy and where we buy it. It does take a Village to raise a child! Also for the person who thinks you should buy expensive items to be safe: not everyone has the money you must have. I buy many of the same products at the "cheap places" that have the designer tags you think are safe because they cost more where ever you shop. It is a buyer be where market.

So Mattel''s problem with the poisonous detachable magnets were in fact a design flaw FROM Mattel? And these cribs were ALSO a design flaw?

Ahhhh....so it was these company''s management that, in their push for cheaper, cheaper, cheaper, were really at fault.

Well, that''s ok then. Just as long as it isn''t some FOREIGN Business killing our children.
