Comments on: Inspector Ignored Warning On TB Patient
Man With Dangerous Strain Of Tuberculosis ID'd As Lawyer, Son-In-Law Of TB Expert
- Stop judging others. Most U.S. physicians- understand little about TB. This disease does not respect socio-economic boundaries!
The WHO claims 1/3 of the world population,is now infected with some latent(inactive), or active form of TB. To think we are somehow immune, as Americans- is ridiculous! Our biggest threat- unfortunately- is that HIV/AIDS patients are now living longer, more productive lives, thanks to current drug cocktails. Secondary infections are what kill people with AIDS- not AIDS itself. The more aggressive, deadlier forms of TB, are quickly becoming the biggest threat to them, & to us- their neighbors, families, co-workers, etc. All immune compromised people, are at high risk.
The deadlist form- is disseminated, extra-pulmonary TB, & this is not as contagious, as the pulmonary/or laryngeal forms. We need to be a more alert, well educated nation.
Recent studies have concluded that 1,000- 2,000 iu's per day of Vitamin D3, can prevent TB infections- altogether. These studies have proven 10,000 iu's of Vitamin D3, per day, for 9 months, has a 100% cure rate. This is for all forms & susceptibility. Even MDR & XDR strains.
We must educate & protect ourselves as a nation, & stop acting like hysterical, unprepared people. TB is the plague of the 21st Century- for the entire world- including all of us, here in the USA. - Reply to this comment

- Well, his goose is cooked as a respectable, trustworthy lawyer or person, so I think a new face and name are his only options.
AFTER 10 years of community service or a huge fine or jail time.
But he has to pay somehow just for his arrogance alone! - Reply to this comment

- Unless Andrew had been to Africa recently, I'd say there's a better than average chance he contacted this TB through his new father-in-law. I wouldn't say it was on purpose, but I would say that the authorities definitely need to check this out! Personally I don't think we need to tell them to do this; I'd bet a buck or two that they are already doing so.

- I have lost count, how many stupid people does that make now?
And how the h-e-l-l did this Speaker guy actually get a law degree?
To me this is no different than someone who has aids, who is going around and having unprotected s-e-x. He should be charged. And his punishment should be: NO ANTIBIOTICS! - Reply to this comment
- I just thought of something that was bugging me. The father conveniently works at the CDC and coincidently works with TB strains? Suspiscious. Claims neither he or the CDC had anything to do with this?
Somebody better check Andrew's financial records and insurance policies and see how much he is worth. What if the daughter and dad cooked this up to kill this guy off and collect? Does the CDC have a reference sample? Because if they have a reference sample that is a match, then the bacterium came from their labs and is not a wild strain.
The chances of them having the same sample of resistant bacteria as Andrew has are not high--it should differ slightly. If it is identical, then that would be a major coincidence. I smell a cover up with the supposed actions of this guard and I smell a deeper story with the connection of the Father in Law and his failing to advise his son in law about travel or wearing a mask. Because even if this was ordinary TB, no one who has it should appear in public for long periods without a mask especially when their type is even partially drug resistant (which he admitted he knew it was before leaving). I am beginning to smell a rat. Maybe the wife and dad realized they had a ripe and stupid chicken for the plucking--hope somebody investigates deeper. (also find out if any samples are missing) - Reply to this comment
- I really want to see him hit where it hurts a guy like this - in the wallet, and in public perception. I hope he's never, ever hired by anyone as a lawyer, and that he's charged and made to pay off all the money he's cost not only our government, and the other governments, not only the money the airlines may have spent, but also, and first, the money all of his victims, all of the people who were exposed and now have to wait through testing to see if they have it or not, every penny and inconvenience they have to go through, he should pay for.
And that's outside of the criminal charges I think are very necessary so the next overprivileged idiot who gets a call about having something contagious takes it seriously. - Reply to this comment
- Scene from the new "Honeymooners" as they return to U.S.
Border Patrolman: You don't look sick.
Speaker: You don't look stupid.
Border Patrolman: Who's the hot babe with
the "I'm With Stupid" t-shirt?
Speaker: That would be my dim bride.
Border Patrolam: Awe, go on you two lovebirds. - Reply to this comment
- He belongs in jail!!!!! It's the same concept as knowing you have herpes (not quite HIV) and sleeping with people and it's incredible to fathom that he went so far as to fly into Canada to get back into the states. He knew he was wrong and if they want to get people for terroism as they say, well, he has terrorized people and it sure looks like "breaking the law" to me.

- This is not an ignorant uneducated individual, but merely a terribly selfish one. He knew what was happening yet did what he wanted to do anyway.
Call him whatever you want to, but his behavior boiled down merely makes him into a massive jerk. - Reply to this comment

- "The unidentified inspector explained that he was no doctor but that the infected man seemed perfectly healthy and that he thought the warning was merely "discretionary," officials briefed on the case told The Associated Press."
All the precautions and checks and balances in the world will not protect or help us if those responsible for facilitating them are ignorant. FYI to the stupid AZZ border inspector, Ebola, Typhus, Cholera and a lot of other diseases cannot be detected if they are in an incubation period, For most bacterial infections the sweating, foaming, rasping part does not show up until a person is near death--prior to that, no one would know a person had an illness.
This is a heads up for those ignorant enough to think they will "SEE" a disease or sickness on a person or even in themselves. Super stupid, flew on because he decided with all of his personal injury training that he could not infect anyone, now the border inspector decides the man did not look sick so he could just go in--both should be relieved of duty. Both are dangers to the public.
This is how catastrophes happen--stupid people in charge of small yet critical jobs--using their own flawed judgement instead of following procedure. I guess one day, when the janitor in the white house is dusting, the red button will get pushed while it is being waxed--it would not be surprising. (sarcasm) - Reply to this comment
- Adequate precaution and keeping him away from others is fine. But being bloodthirsty is sadly makes you worse than him. Apparently logic does not ever come naturally to the violent. Bizarre.

Are you saying we should all wear masks, goggles, gowns, gloves and other protective gear on an airplane, just so one subhuman can travel in comfort? You are bizarre. - Reply to this comment
- Now there is an idiot U.S. border inspector who allowed the Atlanta lawyer "back into the country, disregarding a computer warning to stop the man and don protective gear" - the excuse?

Out of 19 pages, these are the ones that stand out as ill-informed people, because one has no clue as to the real world and the other two think politics really has something to do with TB.
Excellent comments where most actually pertained to the subject matter! - Reply to this comment
- FYI - Mr. Speaker went from a "TB victim" to a "selflish, arrogant, psychopathic subhuman" when he boarded that first plane. He is not an uneducated moron. He made the choice to expose all the real VICTIMS -- fellow passengers and crew on all those planes. As the article reads, only 30% can be cured; guess the other 70% don't matter. He should not be a free man -- ever again.

- When can we see the made for tv movie about this dark comedy?
No fiction or script writer could possibly write a more improbable set of circumstances than have unfolded in this story.
A man who profits from others' misery inflicts misery, and possibly death, on others because of his arrogant selfishness. He endangers countless people, including his own wife and family, while all the while claiming ignorance. Well, sort of.
And, to top it off, his father-in-law is an expert on his condition and chose to do nothing. Or at least anything that prevented this arrogant bas_tard from endangering an unknown number of people.
Do they all live in trailers? I think I've seen them or their kinfolks on Jerry Springer and COPS.
And, then, if the 21st Century version of the Clampetts wasn't enough, we have a border guard, our front line against terrorists, blatantly ignoring a warning that a specific individual poses a threat.
This has got to be made into a movie. - Reply to this comment

Do you know what it is to die of tuberculosis, struggling for your next breath, and your next, until you finally can't breathe anymore? What kind of demented priorities places a honeymoon, or any amount of money at all, over spreading a deadly disease to a few hundred innocent strangers?
I hope you're related to him - I prefer to believe that this lunacy is limited to a single family. - Reply to this comment
