Hamas's doctrine to destroy Israel and to replace it with an Islamic state is the number one issue the world must focus on to change in order to bring peace to the Middle East. This is what the international community must focus on, for it is unreasonable to expect Israel to compromise its security until threats against its citizens have stopped from Gaza and elsewhere.

So, we should back Hamas?

The US can not accomplish anything until Israel wants peace - which it doesn't.

Israel wants the status quo ad infinitim as the last several decades demonstrate clearly.

It is Hamas that doesnt want peace. They have stated as such. Plus, Hamas is just as much a terrorist organization as Al Qaeda!

If Al Qaeda controlled a part of Canada on our border, continually lobbed rockets into the U.S., sent suicide bombers into our country to blow up civilians, etc...we would be FAR worse than the Israelis have been! We would invade, bomb the crap out of them...and lock people up in Gitmo for an extended Carribean vacation.

To suggest that Israel do differently than we would is farce.

Yes, Israel does. Hamas doesnt. So, it doesnt matter what Israel does.

No "Mortar_29", not funding the Israeli siege on Gaza does not mean you are "backing Hamas". There is a different way to see things. It's not that you have to be against one country and for another. We, humanity, are one group. We can work for peace for Israel and the Palestinians together. Ultimately, we must be careful how we phrase things. Let's try to be more broad-minded and respectful.
