It looks like the webmaster filtering these comments have Cold War Mentality and only permit hateful Right Wing Rhetoric to pass thru.

So I will attempt to post again.

Since the Bush-Cheney Era when the infamous Iraqi invasion frightened the world into believing that US war-making circles are routinely entertaining the Republican Party, several countries have flooded the USA with spies.

No amount of McCarthyism can counter the negative effects of the failed Bush-Cheney policies or the failed NSA policies.

Intellectuals are no longer shocked that Israel is listed in the top five countries spying on the USA.

Whether or not 10 Russian spies were really arrested or not is another matter. If it actually happened, then I can only comment that they caught the 10 dumbest spies.

The world reaction to GOP propaganda and the hateful rhetoric of Hate Radio's Rush Limbaugh and hateful TV broadcasters like Glen Beck, shouldn't be all that surprising. As long as our broadcasters are ranting against the world and polarizing masses of minds against certain classes or elasticities, we will see spies from other countries coming to check us out.

During the Bush years any number of governments were conducting spy operations. Everybody wanted intel on what that nutcase administration was going to do next. Bush had pizzd off about everybody on the planet outside of the US and they wanted to make sure they knew what his next moves were.

Bush was the lousiest president in many ways, one was intelligence, the other keeping secrets.
In 2007 the United States suffered its' greatest loss of classified data that has only come to the light of the public recently.
I have no compassion for him or any of his criminal conspirators excepting Rice, and Powell, who both served for the country and not for the party.
All the rest of that Republican scum along with many in congress, from both sides of the isle and including some state politicians from all the states who have helped perpetrate the greatest robbery on America since it's founding.

"Their job, according to the court papers in the case, was "to search and develop ties in policymaking circles" in the United States."

Spies? If they were U.S. citizens, they'd be called lobbyists.

Meanwhile, Obama and Holder simply ignore the murdering Jihadists in the US, deny terrorism even exists, and allow these religious crazies to do as they please. And a big pile of bodies at Ft Hood was part of the result of these policies.

And then we go off and waste time with near-harmless Russians.

Thanks Obama!!!!!

I am an avid Radio Enthusiast, have not read the article fully; but did note that the article states they were trained in the use of shortwave radio and Encrypted Morse code Messages. To me this suggests
what Numbers Stations Observers refer to as: M8a Cuban Morse Code Transmissions. I have heard these transmissions myself and wondered why there was so much of this activity- this may help explain it.

Although crude this method if implemented properly is mathematicaly
unbreakable. I repaired (very obsolete) encryption equipment in the Miliatary years ago. Does require quite a bit of logistics to implement properly; hence Intelligence, Miliatary, and Diplomatic
organizations tend to still use it. Usually reserved for the most sensitive types of communications. The actual signal traffic itself is not considered classified for without the apropriate "Key" decryption of the message is impossible as long as the rules of encryption are adhered to.

As a Radio Enthusiast, I will be following this case with interest.

Cheers

This is just oh so interesting. I have read a little more; noted this private wireless short range computer network. The use of computers, network or not will usually end in compromise sooner or later.

This sounds like low lying fruit to me. FBI is pretty good at this. NSA won't tell me a damn thing. I repaired KW-7 "ORESTES" and KG-13 "PONTUS"
Cryptographic Machines back in the day. Superb machines. Evidently the
Russians got copies of the repair and operating manuals- I never saw any of this, and I repaired them.

Back to the subject at hand. The only Encrypted Morse Code Shortwave
operation targeting the USA that I have ever heard of is Cubas M8a Numbers Station Operation. They use what are termed "Cut Morse Code";
It's a form of abreviation. It's downright boring to listen to for any
length of time; but makes great Morse code Copying practice.

Sounds like greedy "yuppies" trying to turn a buck to me. Just have to wait and see. Speaking of turning a buck, CBS need a special Consultant
regarding shortwave? I'm your go to Man.

Lots of ignorant comments here. I'm not suprprised.

This is a big deal, A REALLY BIG deal, and the SVR is just as dangerous as the KGB ever was.

This investigation isn't over yet, you can be sure of that. These people were sent here for the sole purpose of penetrating our government. Who are their contacts? Were they in the State Department (that would be no surprise), the CIA, or Congress....where?

Anyone/anyone who was collaborating with them will not be resting easy tonight.
