I think they were trying to do the right thing in a desperate and chaotic time. I'm not saying that they should have gone, just that there wasn't any deviousness going on.

One (9-year-old) girl was crying, and saying, 'I am not an orphan. I still have my parents.' And she thought she was going on a summer camp or a boarding school or something like that," said George Willeit, a spokesman for the SOS Children's Village.

I think he is lying and has now gotten many children to say they have parents. Many, I'm sure, were in denial, just thinking about family members dead. There's so much more sinister things going on, this group is just a scapegoat.

"help them as they seek to resist the accusations of Satan and the lies that he would want them to believe and the fears that he would want to plant into their heart." Yeap, that's the clearest example yet of the kind of "Christians" we are dealing with here. Your accusers are not Satan. Your accusers are a government whose laws you broke.

It was their religious leader/pastor, who spoke those words. He should be disciplined by his national church body..The Southern Baptist Convention. He misled these erring Baptists on a mission trip that was not approved or certified by their national church body. If anything, he should accuse the Southern Baptist Convention for not sponsoring this "rescue" mission trip, of being agents of Satan.

They knowing broke the law in Haiti. They were on a "feel good" rescue misson trip that was not certified or approved by their national church body...bankersvox. They should be deported back ASAP to the USA and face criminal charges. Their religious leader/pastor should be discplined by their national church body for encouraging their unlawful behavior. "for the good that they do"....What good??

Yeah basically, but you'll be labeled a god hating country second jane fonda for talk like that in much of Amerikkka. It seems like these people forgot why this great nation was founded, and who built it.

Most of our influential Founding Fathers, although they respected the rights of other religionists, held to deism and Freemasonry tenets rather than to Christianity.

"held to deism and Freemasonry tenets rather than to Christianity." If I am not wrong these religions promote "work righteousness" earning God's favor..Indeed of a religion of God's grace and love given without any merit or worthiness within a person's heart or mind?
So, am I attempting to gain God's favor by adopting foreign kids or out of love for God's grace, I am responding to that love by adopting foreign kids?

Ja, if it "feels good" in time or in eternity do it...
But, do we live in a society that promotes...feeling good--physically, emotionally, and spiritually about ourselves?
"I feel good" and I don't care how you feel!

Why... 57vw? Are they not our wounded and suffering neighbors? Would Christ Jesus not say...I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat..I was thirty and you gave Me something to drink..?
As children of God are we not commanded to feed even our enemies????
So, what's the problem???

57vw, it's fine to help in Haiti, just don't break the law while doing it.

It's physically impossible to help out EVERY neighbor in the world I'll stay here and help out my neighbors in good ole USA. I'm sure he'll be OK with that.

Well, they've had TONS of help and it never does any long term good. Have they proved they're really lousy at running their own country? It sure seems like it. I do send some support for an orphanage there because I think the kids deserve some hope and it's not their fault.

Just because they are from the US does not give them the right to take children across the border. Human trafficking in Haiti is already a huge problem and its prevention is a number one priority of the government. This has nothing to do with discrimination. This group broke the law. They did not receive proper authorization to remove the children from the country. Due to the high rate of trafficking...especially after natural disasters... Haiti's government need to be strict on their procedures when it comes to relocating orphans (the most vulnerable). If they were lax on these procedures, most of these orphans would disappear into slavery or worse... the sex trade. They broke the law... they pay the price regardless of their nationality.

The churches are part of the Southern Baptist Convention, which is America's largest Protestant denomination and has extensive humanitarian programs worldwide, "but they decided to mount their own "rescue mission" following the earthquake."....they decided to have their own "feel good" mission trip, without consulting their national church body. Now, they have to paid the consequances of doing "their own feel good rescue mission"...even though they knew it was wrong. In other words, they placed their "feelings" over their beliefs of right and wrong, legal or illegal.
Again they should be deported from Haiti ASAP and face the charges in
the USA.
Their religious leader/pastor should also be disciplined for allowing them to take their "feel good rescue mission trip".

These kidnappers belong in jail. What makes them think they can just go in there and separate kids from their parents? They are snobs who seem to think they are better than others. No child should be taken out of there without proper documentation. No matter what hardship the people in Haiti are facing, they love their children and do not want to be separated from them...separating a family is not the way to help anyone.

It is amazing that thuis has happened. Why do we Americans feel we can just go to some other country and do as we feel best. Most Americans do not travel outside of rthe US, then they do not realize that American law stops at ouit borders. When we leave our country we are expected to respecrt the laws of the land we are in.
After reading more on the story i see the people are complaining that there is no air conditioning for them and no electricity. Well, if they were worried about creature comforts they should have stayed home. There is no a/c or electricity for millions there. Why would they have it in the jail for prisoners? Remember folks, you are now "jail birds", common criminals now, you get no special treatment.

You need to learn to read better. The people were not complaining of no air conditioning it was one of their lawyers that said that. It is posting as yours that spread mis-information around. What is your source on how many people travel outside the USA ? There are 300 Million Americans in this country. The group in Haiti number 10 and you feel comfortable to say how we Americans feel. You may be a taxpayingvoter but it makes me wonder on what facts you base your voting on. I can only imagine its the same as you posted here. Very sad indeed.
