He is not a good front page obituary. His economy is based on oil money and would not function at all if he had not nationalized those holdings. Violence and crime is rampant in Venezuela as we often hear of kidnappings of wealthy family members.

The class warfare we enjoy has this ending?

Hugo Chavez was an idealist, who fought for his Marion's right to control its own oil, then he diverted
Much of that oil income to redevelop his nation and to provide cheap oil for those in need, including people
In America when our oil prices became so high. He angered the Bush family because the CIA and many
Bush associates were involved in oil issues of Venezuela. The US propaganda machine vilified him
But he was essentially a good man with extraordinary leadership abilities. He will be missed by many.

Place your hand in a pail of water, pull it out quickly, and watch the ripples. The time it takes for them to disappear is equivalent to the amount of time he will be missed.

Just another third world, disillusioned leader who out of desperation tried to unite an impoverished country and blamed all their problems on the US.

Hugo Chavez

I hereby accuse the North American empire of being the biggest menace to our planet.
Hugo Chavez

Convinced as I am and as I am from my government that the world needs a new moral architecture over all I believe that this should be the first topic to debate in our world of today, ethics, moral.
Hugo Chavez

We're not perfect, but we do have democracy.

Hugo Chavez was a dictator who suppressed his political opponents. Though he gave much money to the poor it was unsustainable. Yes, the U.S. has a history of meddling in central and south American affairs, but he could not let a dead dog lie. All his giving was a tool to keep him in power. Sic semper tyrannis.

Chavez wasn't the best choice for the Venezuelan people. While he did give his people a better life than most others would, there were many aspects of his rule that also kept them down. What he did give us was rare opposition to Bush, junior grade, who represented a far greater menace in this world. Bush killed far more innocent people, restrained the rights of far more people in both his country and others in the world, and ultimately corrupted life all over the world. Anyone who opposed the evils of President Bush, junior grade, can't be all bad. Hopefully, Bush's ultimate demise will teach him the horrors he imposed on too many in the world in an amount hundredfold of Chavez's suffering.

He will certainly be missed by the people of Venezuela. While not popular in the US, he was well respected by most in his nation.

The "sheeple" who regurgitate headline news and pundit opinions are a testament to a failing educational system who left these children behind. Not capable of critical thinking on their own, with no historical reference, they suffer from arrested development, stuck in a perpetual teenage state.
