This war should have been two weeks of non-stop bombardment in 2001 for the 9-11 attack and then ZERO percent spent in this pre-historic Islamic hell-hole.
This is one job that should have been left to the Russians some 30 years ago, the difference being the motivations between us and the Russians. The Russians were motivated by their ideology while the NATO forces are motivated by Afghanistan's underground mineral resources and the more the $1T dollars they will bring! In other words, we're in it for a profit!
Maybe if the west didnt destroy this sovereign nation in the pursuit of 1 man (who ironically was found in Pakistan) for the past 12 years it wouldnt be necessary to rebuild 100's of millions in infrastructue.

We hit Afghanistan to kill as many terrorists as possible, whether Al Qaeda or Taliban, and to destroy their ability to function freely as they did before!
We accomplished that after about the first year. We should have removed all combat troops at that time, leaving only intelligence people to monitor if we needed to hit them again.
We should have never stayed to rebuild anything, including their government! We should have left all of the rebuilding to the Afghans and the Taliban!
The sad truth is that most Afghan people want to improve things but are bullied by a bunch of goons ( the Taliban) who use violence to force their 8th C ideology. There is no way the women (half the people) want to be treated like animals and kept at home and uneducated. Afghanistan has not always been in the 8th C and was much more modern during the 1960s and 1970s than today. Do a google image search of Afghanistan in the 1970s to see. They were forced back to the 8th C after the goons took over after the Soviets left in the 1990s. It would be an absolute tragedy if the Taliban took over again, but it is important to know it will not be by popular will but rather by force of a minority who is willing to use savage means to get their way.
It makes no difference who is in the WH or who controls Congress. We just mess things up no matter where we go and conduct war. We bomb the people and expect them to love us; we waste billions in terms of corruption and waste and whatever we build is torn down by the bad guys who have the help of the locals. Whatever we destroy on Wednesday, we try to rebuild on thursday. We borrow funds to use in Afghan to rebuild when we desperately need those funds in the USA and they still hate us. Let the Taliban take over Afghan and they will know how to deal with Karzai and his croonies.
I don't understand..hasn't the no bid contractors like Haliburton and the company formerly known as Blackwater already milked the US Government for every dime they could get?
