This is not an appropriate use of the peace prize. The peace prize is supposed to go to an individual who can use the money to pursue some kind of independent peace work. The European Union will just buy paperclips with the money.
Isn't that the point of a nation or union of nations therein?
Or is that about the so-called "global economy", where workers in developed nations get the sword so those at the top can pocket the difference of wage cost as "profit", while the "developing" nations put out toxic and poorly made "product"...
What kind of perverse joke is this? Giving the Nobel Peace Prize to the European Community of bumbling, fumbling, one step forward, two steps back Europeans is the equivalent of giving the Three Stooges an honorary doctorate. All fluff and no substance.
Did these governments offshore jobs, keep cutting taxes, start wars indiscriminately, gave taxpayer money to corporations that offshored (meaning less income to pay for things, while making it harder to get income because they're selling the offshoring of jobs...) I could go on, but I think you get the idea...
A BANK claimed credit for promoting PEACE? How utterly laughable. Ron Paul deserved the peace prize. I'm sure some other people who actually sacrificed and actively promoted peace and love deserve it, too. But not a bank. Banks thrive on war, which is why NATO uses the US to wage war with other nations.
The Nobel Prize is now officialy just a joke. Four years ago they awarded one to Obama for, well, being Obama. Now the award goes to the EU, well, for not finding a reason to start a war. Just riots. Well, maybe the prize money can help float the socialism a few more months before someone has to take responsibility.
That ultra-ultra-liberal outfit went off the deep end years ago. They are not even worth reporting any more. Just where was the war-risk in Europe? What wars did they stop? Prevent? Mitigate?
And BTW, as I look at this article here, there is another featured with picture of Greece burning being promoted right next to it!!

But aside from that, you are right - banks do profit when loans are taken and kept out... war is a neat little way to get countries to spend...

So what?
