There are Muslims in the western world that didn't react like this. They may have been offended by the video, yet understood who made it and for what reason. The culture of the mid east and the religious leadership who have a bigger agenda are to blame. If this was about the video alone they would be mad at the Coptics who made it. That being said I would think Youtube needs to evaluate their policies regarding offensive material. Most forum's have the right and ability to screen material deemed offensive. Given what this started Youtube needs to be ready for the next spark and the next after that.
We need to become energy independent ASAP. Open up public land for drilling, expand offshore drilling (including shallow water), open up ANWAR, develop and expand the natural gas industry, build more nuclear power plants, continue to develop the wind and solar options, build the Keystone pipeline, etc., etc. etc. We have the technology to do it all and to do it all safely without environmental consequences.
By doing all of the above we would no longer have to deal with third world, ignorant idiots while creating massive jobs opportunities right here at home.
Those people hate us and everything we stand for and nothing is ever going to change. This has nothing at all to do with a stupid movie nobody has seen and anybody who believes that needs to have his (Obama) or her (Hillary) head examined. They hate us, they always have and they always will.

I will never insult any faith though I have studied other faiths in depth & have seen unlimited flaws in them.
I can't tolerate insult to my faith when I know it is the truth. Please don't assume or say anything about Islam when you don't know about it. Please refer Koran to get to know about Islam.
You will repent for your assumptions you have about Islam. You will ask for Allah's forgiveness & hopefully accept Islam if you read it with an open & clean heart.

During my 69 years, I have lived in Indonesia, Brunei, Malaysia Saudi Arabia and Singapore. I too have studied religion, including Islam... in depth. That was sufficient exposure to Islam to understand that Islam is no different than other religious superstitions and that NO religion is above criticism or should be.

CRITICISM: GET USED TO IT. THE WORLD HAS ONLY BEGUN TGO CRITICISE ISLAM. Freedom of speech is designed especially to criticize religion and will be used liberally.

Look at people of Islam, Christians and all other religions, and their doctrines when read in detail are reason enough to reject them. I don't know many people who are experienced in life enough to make many conscious about who they really are and what they believe in, and accept or reject what they were raise on or taught by the institutions of the world.
There is no God. We live in a world made up of matter that came from exploded stars over billions of years. We came from dirt. We'll go back to dirt when we die. There's no salvation or damnation. It's so much simpler and depressing. At least I fear death. Religion, institutions and government prevents this and is quite possibly, the sole cause of the worlds problems.
Just forget about GWB entering Iraq because "God told me to".

I think what we are seeing is a very sad self-commentary by the protesters, demonstrating that they know next to nothing about democracy and have become used to living under authoritarian rule. If they themselves valued democracy and free speech (other than to express anti-Americanism, Anti-Westernism, or anti-Semitism) then they would limit their anger over the offending film to just its makers and backers and not direct it toward the American People and the American government. However, I am optimistic that there will become a greater awareness and appreciation for democracy and the right of free speech in the Islamic world, but it is going to take time.
