You mean to say you can't be a Muslim American?

Good. If the US State Department would stop allowing these people entry into the US in the first place then we would all be a lot safer. He can go back to Sudan or Yeman.

Strange that the former native inhabitants of this land were hoping the same thing for your ancestors.

Lets see, a man who belongs to a mosque with a proven record of waging war against the US "claims" he was tortured under FBI supervision. While there is plenty of evidence linking Masjib Al Sabr to terrorist activities (the Portland Seven, funnelling money to AlQaeda & the taliban, Mohamud Mohamud trying to blow up downtown Portland) & repeated convictions of their members over the last 10+ years, CBS chooses to report on this hearsay. And yes the FBI has been involved in catching/stopping these people....GOOD.

I realized that. But, he "claimed Wednesday he was detained at the U.S. government's request while in the United Arab Emirates last summer". Rather than US government ask if he said anything about a terror act, might they rather not try to have him freed like the two hikers caught by Iran last year? You might not believe his claim that he was detained at the US government request, but that is what he is saying and that is his point.

Correction for missing quote. The first line should read:

@stormerF69 said "You know he was in a foreign country?".

Why is he seeking asylum if he is an American citizen? Maybe he is hiding something, anyway the laws of the foreign country trump what our FBI wants or does.

I suspect that he is seeking asylum because he believes the US government has mistreated him.

Yeah, he's hiding his A55 from the A55holes in the FBI who are working well out of bounds both internationally and condoning torture....
Just another reason to have both Bush and Cheney to be arrested.
Obama must order this to stop, or be as guilty.

I'm a born citizen, do that to me, and you make me a defender of our constitution and makes the FBI an enemy of the state....

@DumpMarxistObama said "So what's your point terrorist? You should be happy that you're alive.".

As a US citizen, he should not have been treated that way by the US government.

Fourth amendment to the United States Constitution: "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

Sixth amendment to the United States Constitution: "In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence."

You know he was in a foreign country? We have no control how they treat suspects, although we may be able to ask if he said anything about a terror act,his fate is in their hands. UAE does not fall under the constitution, you are department of education, educated no?

Innocent until proven guilty - that was the pre-Bush/Cheney American way. Sad we lowered ourselves down to the terrorists' level and never got back up.
