underdogus09 - what happened first, Gitmo detainees or 9/11 ?

And, I'd SURE like to see a source on the death of the detainee that said "Harsh interrogation" was conclusively the cause of death.

You are but a terrorist sympathizer !

Enough is enough! How long are we going to be pushed around by these barbarians? It is time to take off the gloves and deal with the Taliban their terms. There comes a time when, to protect our way of life, we must fight in the ways of our enemy.....the time has come.

I assume you're volunteering for the armed forces? Good for you! That's better than right wing cowards volunteering other peoples family to fight and die in war that shouldn't be.

Solarrays247 - you have a very warped sense of logic.

Time for a history lesson, idiot.

Who has been sawing heads off for the last 8 years.

"The worst attack on civilians came in summer of 1998 when the Taliban swept north from Herat to the predominantly Hazara and Uzbek city of Mazar-i-Sharif, the largest city in the north. Entering at 10 am on 8 August 1998, for the next two days the Taliban drove their pickup trucks "up and down the narrow streets of Mazar-i-Sharif shooting to the left and right and killing everything that moved ? shop owners, cart pullers, women and children shoppers and even goats and donkeys."[69] More than 8000 noncombatants were reported killed in Mazar-i-Sharif and later in Bamiyan.[70] Contrary to the injunctions of Islam, which demands immediate burial, the Taliban forbade anyone to bury the corpses for the first six days while they rotted in the summer heat and were eaten by dogs"

I am so sorry that this happened. I am sad each time it does.
Also, knowing that this brave young man will probably get the
same harsh treatment America has put upon its P.O.W.s is horrible.
So far, it seems as though he is alright. I can only pray it stays
that way. I truly hope his captors will prove themselves the better
person and not behave shamefully as in the past, and certainly not
as shameful as the U.S. has. As the supposed leader of the free world,
we should have been setting appropriate standards from the get go.

Besides that, we really shouldn't even be over there. What they do to each other is their own business, and certainly no worse than what
the U.S.A. does to its own people; even though our government is more subtle in its heinous crimes.

Right now, we are not under attack, so get out of those countries. Life is one big risk, we're all going to die someday, and when our number is up, no amount of armed forces or anyone will have anything to do to stop it.

America, bring that man home, NOW.

libbiemom, I believe there is an opening for Tokio Rose's position in the mountains between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Oh, I guess I'm wrong - you have already accepted the job.

What, no music ?

That's right, it's against the Taliban's rules.

And, by the way, if he receives the "same harsh treatment America has put upon its P.O.W.s ", then everything will turn out all right in the long run for him.

But, somehow, I doubt it.

Freekin liberal.

We can only hope he will be treated as well as the prisoners at Gitmo were. I can guarantee his captors will not keep from physically harming him.

This soldier is now a POW he is in a status of missing-captured. One of the Pentagon's dirty little secrets, they are attempting to incorporate the true meaning of "the fog of war" by playing word games for political cover. Because we are not at war, declared by Congress, NONE of our troops fit the legal definition of a POW and therefore do not have the protection of the Geneva Convention.

For all extensive purposes, this soldier is on his own. Sure, his family is being told they are doing everything they can and that they have all available man power working to find him and brgin him home. They still today say the same things to those still unaccounted for from Vietnam. Duplicity is the word of the day. The DoD will just keep spinning their propoganda until America's short attention span kicks in and will not even remember this kid's name 10 days from now.

ok - if this is so, then WHY have you liberals been arguing that Gitmo people have had their rights "violated".

Feel like you are talking out of both sides of your mouth ?

It sure looks like it.

Now, back to reality.

PowWarrior, your definition of "war" is self serving, and assumes, like libs have tried to in the past, that to be "war" it must exist between two states (and not the US against a political groups such as terrorists) and must be declared.

So let's take a look at an unbias definition: Source :http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War

"War is a reciprocated, armed conflict, between two or more non-congruous entities, aimed at reorganising a subjectively designed, geo-politically desired result."

Does the current issue meet that definition. It certainly does.

So your above logic falls apart on claiming that Congress didn't declare war and therefore he is not covered.

Now, if you were to say that the taliban had not signed the Geneva Conventions and therefore wasn't obligated to its terms, you might have a point.

But let's not compare waterboarding, a technique which leaves the victim alive and well, with past Taliban and Al Qaeda (which grew out of OBL's being a guest of the Taliban) techniques, such as sawing the head off of healthy conscious individuals on TV.

This soldier is only on his own when looked at by terrorist sympathizers like you. I assure you, every service person in Afghanstan is doing their part to find him.

You and Solarray - stuff your propaganda where the sun doesn't shine.

So, as I was saying, today, for the first time on American soil a conference is being held at the Oaklawn Hilton for a "Rise of Islam" conference. Are you going??
It is being run by hizh ut-tahri, a real sweet guy who runs recruiting for islamic groups.
As for statements, remember, Congress knew, no matter what lie queen nance comes up with, they knew. Tell us, when was the last time we lobe off a head??

Remember Waterboarding?
Harsh interrogation techniques authorized by top officials of the CIA have led to questionable confessions and the death of a detainee since the techniques were first authorized in mid-March 2002, "They would not let you rest, day or night. Stand up, sit down, stand up, sit down. Don't sleep. Don't lie on the floor, one prisoner said through a translator. The detainees were also forced to listen to rap artist Eminem's "Slim Shady" album. The music was so foreign to them it made them frantic...

Best Wishes.

You might be "honored" Bush, but you never deserved that honor! Not when you did not see fit to serve honorably yourself, but rather allowed other men to serve in Vietnam...in your place....while you were too busy playing AWOL in order to help with a political campaign!

No. It sounds to me as though the poster is indicating that he hopes the soldier is not treated in a manner that reflects our recent departure from decency.
by npkppprc July 19, 2009 10:53 AM EDT
Obama, how do you think they will treat him as a POW? Probably will use professionals for interviews and pat him on the head like you want to treat our terrorist. We pray they won't harm him because diplomacy probably will not work with people who hate all Americans. Who is going to protect the soldiers rights?
