this brave young man will probably get the
same harsh treatment America has put upon its P.O.W.s
-------------------------

I think he would prefer to be treated the way we treat our P.O.W.s than they way they treat theirs.

We don't behead ours.

Geneva conventions do not apply to "illegal enemy combatants." The military spokeswoman is wrong to say they are violating international law, because a criminal isn't prosecuted under international law. That's why we have the illegal combatant prisoners in Cuba.

There's no such thing as an "illegal enemy combatant", taken into custody on the battlefield.

That is known as a "prisoner of war", and that most certainly is covered under the Geneva Conventions.

Remember the 'waterboarding' which does not equate to beheading.
Remember the invasion of Afghanistan which needed invaded after allowing the attacks planned on their soil.
Remember the dictator of Iraq trying to shoot down our planes?
Remember the dictator of Iraq claiming he had WMD's?

Of course you don't remember this stuff...It would get in the way of your liberal agenda.

So, don't EVEN equate waterboarding KNOWN Terrorists with this sort of morality.

We water boarded both guilty AND innocent people at Guantanamo Bay, and because of that, we can't really complain if they were to do it to this poor soldier, else we look like hypocrites.

I know that looking and sounding like a hypocrite is no big deal to a conservative, since it's a way of life with you people, but really - it's NOT a good thing.

Fine...waterboarding. But if they do their normal techniques, he will be far worse off. I hope they did take a page from our book. waterboarding is humane especially when you compare it to breaking bones, dismembering, and decapitation.

This soldier went into the service as a Republican - but I bet he's a Democrat now.

Now, this is a real dilema. Now that the whole world knows Bush and Cheney allowed for torture to take place---all in the name of 'freedom'---one of our own stands a real chance of being tortured. Are you idiot conservatives happy now? The fact of the matter is, the Taliban will do anything to stay in power. With Obama putting the squeeze on them, they now will resort to the tried and true methods of extracting information from this soldier. Let Cheney tell it, these 'enhanced interrogation methods' yielded real results. Our greatest fear has now been realized: One of our soldiers stands a real rixk of being tortured, thanks to Bush and Cheney. You can throw Yoo into that lot as well. For all of this nonsense about them 'keeping the country safe'---even though they allowed the country to be attacked, thanks in great part to their lacksidasical attitude towards the Taliban in the initial days of their illegal tenure in office---now our soldiers are in far greater danger than they ever would have been had tortured remained outlawed. This is the Republican legacy...

Obama putting the squeeze on them....?
_______________________________________________________

LMAO..More US soldiers have sustained more casualties under Obama than they have inflicted!!! Obama is getting his a$$$ kicked. Heck Obama has killed twice as many civilians as he has Taliban. Neither Obama nor his people have any military experience whatsoever, yet Obama claims to be a military expert!

Obama is a Muslim who is tyring to do as little damage to him Taliban Brothers as possible while still keeping up the facade of fighting them.
by ffoulkes-2009 July 20, 2009 12:39 AM EDT
We can only hope the Taliban will limit themselves to the 'tried and true methods of extracting information from this soldier'. Otherwise they will fall back on their own preferred methods...broken bones, flayed skin, beheading...you know..the more pleasant sorts of interrogation...
ABM...you are a liberal tool.

I can't help but think that if this captured solder were to read the posts (so far) he would feel hopeless and disheartened. Fascinating the way posters use these forums to spew out their own agendas, using name-calling and other childish antics to make sure you understand what they are talking about. How pathetic.

Forget to take your meds today, brilliant one? Or have you already had one too many beers?

No one on this board deserves the junk you are spilling. You should quit before everyone realizes what an idiot you are. You used to make sense.....don't know what your problem is, but you should go lay down for awhile.

You seem to be having a good time today! Insulting everyone on the board.....make you feel better? Guess what, guy? This isn't about you....or are you one of those right wingers who preach war....but then sit your fat ass behind a keyboard?

You owe everyone else on this board an apology....but we won't hold our breath. We know all too well what you are about.....as do our military who are serving in Bush's "war."

I am an Independent, ex-Republican....and proud of it! I am beholding to no party, no person, my country comes first! Why don't you try it?
The truth, less inane rhetoric, will set you free!

I assume you're volunteering for the armed forces? Good for you! That's better than right wing cowards volunteering other peoples family to fight and die in war that shouldn't be.

libbiemom, I believe there is an opening for Tokio Rose's position in the mountains between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Oh, I guess I'm wrong - you have already accepted the job.

What, no music ?

That's right, it's against the Taliban's rules.

And, by the way, if he receives the "same harsh treatment America has put upon its P.O.W.s ", then everything will turn out all right in the long run for him.

But, somehow, I doubt it.

Freekin liberal.

ok - if this is so, then WHY have you liberals been arguing that Gitmo people have had their rights "violated".

Feel like you are talking out of both sides of your mouth ?

It sure looks like it.

Now, back to reality.

PowWarrior, your definition of "war" is self serving, and assumes, like libs have tried to in the past, that to be "war" it must exist between two states (and not the US against a political groups such as terrorists) and must be declared.

So let's take a look at an unbias definition: Source :http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War

"War is a reciprocated, armed conflict, between two or more non-congruous entities, aimed at reorganising a subjectively designed, geo-politically desired result."

Does the current issue meet that definition. It certainly does.

So your above logic falls apart on claiming that Congress didn't declare war and therefore he is not covered.

Now, if you were to say that the taliban had not signed the Geneva Conventions and therefore wasn't obligated to its terms, you might have a point.

But let's not compare waterboarding, a technique which leaves the victim alive and well, with past Taliban and Al Qaeda (which grew out of OBL's being a guest of the Taliban) techniques, such as sawing the head off of healthy conscious individuals on TV.

This soldier is only on his own when looked at by terrorist sympathizers like you. I assure you, every service person in Afghanstan is doing their part to find him.

You and Solarray - stuff your propaganda where the sun doesn't shine.
