Kim Jong-Il loves to make Big Scary Loud Threats so the world can tremble in their shoes. I guess the reason Kim Jong-Il yells and screams and makes Big Scary Threats is because he is so SHORT and Ugly that is the only way he can get any attention.

If north Korea Fires a Missile its going to be shot down and then Kim Jong-Il will be very very unhappy that we broke one of his toys.

I surely miss Ronald Reagan right now.

Why?

So he can give MORE weapons and ammo to Iran and bin Laden?

If you knew what Reagan really accomplished and what he did in office, you would hardly want him back. I know I don't.

And if you knew what JFK did in office, you'd change your pen name.

Of course, I would expect you would not want Reagan back in office - he made it tough on you pinkos didn't he ?

THE CIVILIZED WORLD MUST NEVER PERMIT THE RISE OF TOTALITARIAN POWERS

Whatever measures, cost, toll, etc, it takes to 'nip in the bud' any fascist government such as North Korea, BEFORE it gains inordinate military power, we simply must ...

History has taught us that such nation-states only have tendencies to become more destructive, and pose more serious problems for the world at large later on, if unchecked!

NORTH KOREAN RECKLESSNESS REQUIRES IMMEDIATE MILITARY 'NEUTRALIZATION'

Seldom does the entire world come together in facing an extremely serious and life-threatening situation as it is regarding the current N. Korean nuclear threat.

All indications lead us to exactly the same common-sense conclusion, and that is:

A massive, pre-emptive, lightning strike against N. Korean missile sites, and against ALL N. Korean offensive military capability, is needed to cripple its ability to make war, or from continuing to threaten any of the world's nations or the world's people.

Thereafter, any residual N. Korean missile firings or offensive weapon use can be dealt with easily...
...as long as the Big Powers unite and coordinate such measures!

You are totally WRONG. North Korea is hardly any serious threat to the USA. President Obama is doing exactly the right thing by "speaking softly and carrying a big stick". He doesn't have to threaten or cajole. He just says "we are prepared for any possibility", and that is enough.

Little King George the Imbecile tried "a massive, pre-emptive, lightning strike against" Iraq. That didn't turn out so well, now did it?

Repukes are just recycling their same, tired old rhetoric because they are too ignorant to come up with anything new. That's why membership in the GOP is dwindling. That's why the GOP is toast.

fred-mertz what don't you understand about a nuclear threat ?

LOL On the South Side of Chicago where Obama Comes from THAT is how it is. You go around making trouble and the first thing you know you got more trouble than you ever dreamed possible. People from that part of the country do NOT pound their chest and shout "Bring em On" but you learn VERY quick that those same people will, if necessary, hurt you and hurt you VERY bad.

The U.S. is right not to escalate its rhetoric. Just go about the business of being quietly prepared. If they actually hit Hawaii with a missle, we'll shoot back and they know it. If it comes anywhere near Hawaii, then we should shoot it down.

North Korea is only acting this way because it knows China will back them up in the event of a conflict. But China can avoid any conflict in regards to North Korea by applying the proper pressures. China refuses to speak up against North Korea and remains quiet. If the United States decides to respond to North Korean provocations China should continue to remain quiet and sit on it's hands like it's doing now.

North Korea will hurt the US? Kind of like if someone geek were to try and "hurt" Mike Tyson by trying a little sucker punch I guess.
I have total confidence in our President to handle this since so far he has done a great job.
I like the way President Obama handled the Somali pirates, he just ignored it publicly and then killed them. North Korea would do well to heed what happened to the last group that messed with the US. If I was North Korea I would be very afraid right now.

Yeah he killed them all didn't he. Wake up dude, the press is ignoring the problem because barry is their darling. If you think the Pirates are done, guess again. Wanna bet ? How about you not come to this site for a year if they attack again in say 2 months, and I'll not show if they don't. Is it BET LIberal, or are you as much a coward as barry ?

If you live in Hawaii you probably would not be laughing. Some conutry threating to shoot a missle at you is serious business. North Korea may be just flexing some mussel and retoric but what if they actually carry-out their threat? I would tell North Korea you shoot a missell at the U.S. that we would consider that an act of war just like Pearl Harbor in 1941. WE blocade N.K. so nothing goes out except what china will allow and hope their stupid enough to attack the blockcade so we can give the country a face lift anything military or related military goes up in smoke. We do not need to invade N.K. just destroy the military infrastucture, so they can't shoot anymore missells.

They cliam they will launch a missile at the U.S on or after July 4th but that's over 4,500 miles from where they are. They might have the warhead but they don't have the rocket booster power or the kind of technology to succesfully launch such a heavy weapon that distance with pinpoint accuracy. They would be better off focusing on South Korea first but could destroy themselves with their own missile in the process if actually carried out.

I have to wonder if Kim's family was inbred too much.

I say it is time for Obama to have a "come to God" talk with this jerk. Tell Kim that unless this rogue nation apologizes, that if they so much as fire a missile that LOOKS like it has a trajectory towards the US the following will happen.

We will assume it has a nuclear warhead as threatened. As such, we will respond in kind.

If Kim proceeds:

Use a YAL-1 to take out the missile as it takes off - effectively making the gantry useless for the next millennium, then a well placed ground burst so that Kim's bunker/tomb will be sealed forever, then a burst at say 4 miles up to cover their whole nation with EMP, then a demand for the headless & non-mobile nation to surrender or all major troop concentrations will be eliminated by tactical nukes at our leisure.

But Obama won't do this, because he'd rather apologize to the world and make us look better. Forget that he swore to protect and defend the Constitution of the US, and thereby its people.

even gwb wasn't stupid enough to do that ... but you with your authoritarian complex cleary are.

i'd imagine that you were whining and crying about the inaction w/ the somali pirates as well ... weren't you?
by speakinup22 June 22, 2009 6:39 PM EDT
bobnjersey - I forgive you. After all, you have enough problems living in the garden state. (sheese - the boy's got more nerve than a bum tooth.)
by mnbrant June 22, 2009 3:51 AM EDT
Actually if they did fire a nuke at the US it would probably miss. Unfortunatly for them ours would have a 99% chance of hitting. That proves the superiority of democracy ICBM over comutalitarionist ICBM.
