Comments on: Israel Accepts Unarmed Palestinian State
Netanyahu's Announcement Seen By Many As Major Reversal, But Swiftly Rejected By Palestinians
- Israel has been beating up the Palestinians for 60+years. Now they say Palestinians can have a country with the land that they have left (and not yet stolen), but only if Israel gets to keep all the weapons. Meanwhile the US Zionists are rooting them on and all US citizens must pay. US needs to bow out and end our handouts and relief to Israel efforts and instead use it for relief for US taxpayers.

Way to re-write history. It is the Arab states that have initiated every War with Israel. Only now that they have finally learned that they can not beat the Jewish State with weapons have they decided to fight them with propoganda. Israel is right to demand that the Palestinians disarm. Numerous speeches by Palestinian leaders have informed thier people that any peace will be a temporary peace giving themselves time to rearm and then destroy Israel. Can one blame Israel for taking these threats seriously and demanding that the Palistinains disarm? - Reply to this comment
- Sounds like the "State" Germany gave the Polish Jews in Warsaw in ww11.

- 60 years of losing one war after another and with each losing more land and lives, I think this is the best chance for the Pals. Will Hamas agree to disarm to have the state they say they desire? I doubt it.

- If you want to know what drunken Israeli/US Zionists really think and how racist they really are, I suggest you view this Max Blumenthal video taken on the eve of Obama's speech in Cairo.

- I think the Palestinians have gotten a bum deal all these years...but in the end I think this is their best chance in years to get a state and to work peacefully to maintain and support that state.

This is the Palestinians last chance to have the last of their land stolen out from under them, while giving up their last chance for a fight. - Reply to this comment
- This is a huge turnaround, maybe something good might come of it. Paletinian pride will probably kill it but we can hope..

"Huge turnaround"?
Are you kidding?
Can you imagine the Israeli's reaction if the Palestinians proposed it to Israel: "Give all of your weapons and ammo back to the US, and we'll recognize Israel as a nation."

- Netanyahu's offer is cynicism at it's finest! Israel will never recognize a Palestinian state!
But, in order to get it---THEY must disarm themselves of the 'light arms' they possess?!
THAT, will make it very easy for the Israelis, won't it?! Then, the Palestinians will be defenseless!
Then, the Israelis can murder them at will---or, if they're in a generous mood---ENSLAVE them
as they see fit!
THIS IS NO PEACE OFFER! IT'S A DEATH SENTENCE FOR THE PALESTINIANS!
The United States government should regard it as such! - Reply to this comment
- Israel needs to put a reality and credibility check on itself. Israel illegally developed nukes and now threatens its neighbors if they develop nukes. Israel has been beating up the Palestinians for 60+years. Meanwhile the US Zionists are rooting them on and all US citizens must pay. US needs to bow out and end our handouts and relief to Israel efforts and instead use it for relief for US taxpayers.

- This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. Is Israel going to disarm itself? I dont think so. This is a hogwash offer that Israel knew would be rejected because Israel itself understands how ridiculous the offer is, but are trying to be magnanimous. This is fast becoming a reality show.

- Netanyahu offered an olive branch with a bayonet underneath it. He is basically asking the Palestinians to surrender. This is not a plan to succeed it is a plan to deceive. Netanyahu offers a plan that the Palestinians will never accept and at the same time appears to be the great peace maker. The Palestinians will never accept the state of Israel until Israel accepts the state of Palestine.

- I think the Palestinians have gotten a bum deal all these years...but in the end I think this is their best chance in years to get a state and to work peacefully to maintain and support that state....In the end the Palestinians must refrain from official degeneration and violence though a very difficult thing to do when they perceive that they are the victims of injustice, still this is their best chance...in the end the Palestinians need to replace their terrorists with talented and persuasive diplomats and political tacticians in order to attain some justice in the next ten to twenty years....I believe it is possible, but they will have to commit to it wholeheartedly and be prepared for a very difficult spiritual struggle...but when one day it comes to fruition, Palestine will be born and will be better for the struggle....As for Israel, it stands to gain enormously from real progress here, difficult as it may be. A little less arrogance and prejudice would also help. In the end, peace is the only objective for Israel and it too will be better off for it. If in fact there were a genuine dedication towards such an objective...the question really I think is this: Can Israel commit to real peace? Can the Palestinians commit to real peace? If not both people's will find the going immensely more difficult in the coming years than it has been over the last decade .

- The disarmament clause won't be a problem, if Israel itself defends the new Palestinian state with it's resources. It is unreasonable to leave it vulnerable and incapable of defending itself against invaders.
The Palestinians will have very comparable conditions as Native Americans do in the USA. I don't know if that will really be a good thing on a permanent basis, because while generations may pass without hostilities, the disarmed will require economic opportunities to sustain theirself. I would be extremely supportive of Palestinian manufacturing taking a competitive direction so the USA can redirect trade to the Palestinian state that is not burdened with defense expenses. It would be a very good thing for the USA and the new Palestinian state.
I would also be exteremely supportive of reducing foriegn outlays to Israel. Israel actually has the highest paid lobby effort occuring in the USA to secure federal foreign outlays. In the 1990's they were 6 billion dollars per year. - Reply to this comment
- WELL how Christian Zionist of Israel to say yes you Palestinians can have a state but only we will be allowed to have weapons. That way if we decide we want some more land or need to bulldoze your house, you will not have any weapons to try and stop us. Because remember our God promised this land to us, not you.

- This offer will either be rejected or else the different factions will splinter on the issue. It will likely lead to a permanent partition into Gaza and Palestine as two different entities because Gaza under Hamas will not agree while Palestine under the PLO will merely cheat.

- For this guy, that offer is a start. I'm a little skeptical that it will be accepted due to the disarmament clause. Notice that there has been no counteroffer from the other side...
