- "Court documents indicate the couple received little money for their efforts, but instead professed a deep love for Cuba, Castro and the country's system of government."
Now that is a strange pair to do it for the love of Communism! Too bad so many in our new administration are willing to throw OUR system of government overboard so quickly and carelessly. No love of country. - Reply to this comment
- spying for cuba?
I'm somehow picturing the Brad Pitt charactor from "Burn After Reading" - Reply to this comment
- First, I doubt government officials are telling the public the "truth" about this couple!
Second, it's likely the U.S.govt knew what they were doing, because they were using them as "double agents". Unfortunately, they probably gave more info to Cuba than they did to the U.S.!
Third, the Obama administration would like to normalize relations with Cuba. This would probably cement support of U.S. Cuban refugees with the Democrat party, further hurting the GOP! SO, it's just as likely right-leaning govt agents chose this time to "expose" this couple in order to SABOTAGE any immediate future improvement in relations between the two countries!
The point: United States security apparatus continues to FAIL to work for the best interests' of the vast majority of ALL citizens of the U.S.! And, apparently works for "rogue" elements on a "for-hire" basis!
President Obama as commander-in-chief, needs to take actions designed to see that the intelligence apparatus reverts back to working for the citizens of the United States once again! - Reply to this comment

- The Cuban spy story is all over the US media. Yet the AIPAC spy story was hardly covered. We know why the indicted AIPAC spies for Israel were released without the publicity of a trial....the publicity surrounding a trial was something the Israel lobby didn't want. The double standard is obvious and one more example how our justice system is far from fair and balanced.

- "The two were charged with conspiracy to act as illegal agents of the Cuban government and to communicate classified information to the Cuban government. Each is also charged with acting as an illegal agent of the Cuban government and with wire fraud."
I do believe that under the Obama administration, that communicating classified information to a foreign government is in fact NOT A CRIME OF ESPIONAGE THAT WILL BE PROSECUTED, at least if you are a member or former member of AIPAC, and the classified information is going to a foreign government that has a secret nuclear weapons program.
In fact since this decision was made within the LAST MONTH or so, I'm quite sure that there is a precedent of NOT PROSECUTING communications of classified information like this as espionage. Since the U.S. actually OCCUPIES and carries out illegal torture in internment camps INSIDE of sovereign Cuba, they must clearly be our allies, so this would HAVE TO BE THE MOST UNUSUAL and BIZARRE DOUBLE-STANDARD imaginable. - Reply to this comment
- Israel is notorious for not keeping to international agreements. Why hasn't Israel dismantled all the settlements?
Why does Israel continue to steal the water from West Bank aqua furs?
Why does the Israeli Military accompany and provide protection to Jewish settlers when they go to harass Palestinian farmers, burn the crops and cut the irrigation pipes?
Why does Hamas have to recognize the "right" of Israel to exist?
Israel is founded on the bodies of dead Arabs who were slaughtered before 1948 in order that Israel be established. Is this right? No.
Since this is not right, no one can "recognize the right of Israel to exist."
SEARCH OUT SOMETHING CALLED THE NAKBA MASSACRE.
JEWISH SOLDIERS MARCHED INTO PALESTINIAN VILLAGES AND COMMITTED OUTRIGHT GENOCIDE. EVERYTHING IN SIGHT WAS SHOT.
THIS WAS ALL DONE TO CLEAR THE AREA OF GENTILES SO THAT THE JEWS CAN HOARD THE HOLY LAND AND WAIT FOR THE MESSIAH TO COME.
THE JEWS ARE IGNORANT OF THE LAW OF THE ALMIGHTY. THE JEWS CANNOT CLAIM THE THRONE OF KING SOLOMON(PEACE BE UPON HIM) UNTIL THE MESSIAH COMES.
ISLAM BEARS 100% WITNESS THAT THE SUCCESSOR TO KING SOLOMON(PEACE BE UPON HIM) IS THE JESUS CHRIST, SON OF MARY(PEACE BE UPON HIM AND GOD BLESS HER IN ABUNDANCE). - Reply to this comment

- TO ANYONE THAT SAYS THE US IS SELLING THE COUNTRY TO THE SAUDIS.
WHERE DO THE SAUDIS GET THE MONEY FROM?
THE SAUDIS GET THE MONEY FROM THE US.
THE SAUDIS WOULD BE BROKE HAD IT NOT TO HAVE BEEN FOR THE US TO BUY OIL.
WHEN THE SAUDIS BUY SOMETHING THEY ARE BUYING AMERICAN COMPANIES AND BUILDINGS.
THE MONEY AMERICA SENDS TO THE SAUDIS COMES BACK TO AMERICA WHEN THE SAUDIS BUY US INFRASTRUCTURE AND DEBT. - Reply to this comment
- Just on the nightly news that agent 202 was very discouraged with the US Gov't and held a high degree of respect for Castro. Well, I dont care for Castro, but I do have my complaint's with government policy from time to time, but I'm not going to commit treason over it. BUT, as stated above;
"The two were charged with conspiracy to act as illegal agents of the Cuban government and to communicate classified information to the Cuban government. Each is also charged with acting as an illegal agent of the Cuban government and with wire fraud."
AND the punishment is;
"Wire fraud carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, while serving as an illegal agent of a foreign government carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and conspiracy carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison, according to a Justice Department statement."
WHY NOT TREASON??? - Reply to this comment
- By the time these people were recruited to work for Castro's Cuba....the assassination attempts were over....1979? Get real. The CIA stuff stopped LONG before Nixon resigned from office in 1974....Repulibcan President Richard Nixon realigned the political map recongizing China. and admitting the Communists to take a seat on the Security Countil at the UN...and keeping hands off Cuba in deference to Russia and China...so, for whatever value Castro needed a few spies....he has ONLY himself to blame for the lack of progress of Cuba...not so much a trade embargo as much as an island fortress against human rights....Not even Mexico can stomach the civil rights abuses that Cuba exercises from tiome to time...Mexico has expelled Cuban ambassabors and personnel from Mexico for iillegal tampering with political figures running for office.
Send the Spies to Cuba....let them bask in their glory...and forget them. Cuba will be free shortly....and the gravy train will stop for two OLD people living there. Freedom is coming to Cuba VERY SHORTLY.... - Reply to this comment
- and george w bush didn't out the identity of these spies. must be because they worked for someone else.

- Let see, Kendall Myers was Agent #202. Therefore, Agents #1 thru #201 are still working hard for the Cuban Government. They could be your neighbors.

- The indictment says the two agreed to be spies in 1979 after meeting with a Cuban government official while they were living in South Dakota. At Cuba's direction, authorities say, Kendall Myers attempted to get jobs that would give him access to classified information.
This indicates that they were indeed citizen's of the U.S. and not "planted" spies. I don't understand why anyone that smart would do anything so stupid as to commit treason. The money??? No amount of money is worth treason, and eventually you will get caught. These two got away with it for quite awhile yes, but they did get caught. And humans are considered the most intelligent form of life. Yea, right. - Reply to this comment
