It is sad - same old thing, some insecure person, wants to kill a powerful person to feel powerful, and doesn't care how many other people they hurt. Sick. He should think about his victims - all real people just like him - except that they don't blame their problems, their failures, on others, don't choose to kill randomly when disappointed.

Every one of these crimes, there's some idiot who assumes it's a muslim, usually several of them. Same line every time - "the news didn't say the ethnicity, and since it's a given they all conspire against us white people, it must be a muslim!". And no matter how they're proven wrong EVERY TIME, just like in this one, where it's just like this one - guess what, Dutch born, non-muslim white guy - they still never learn their lesson, the same false allegations, the same jumping to conclusions based on biases happens all over again.

What is most tragic is that the Dutch are such a peace loving group and violent behavior is not the norm. I have visit the Netherlands 15 times and have yet to see or hear of a violent crime in all my visits. I hope they can maintain their tolerant personality while dealing with this obviously deranged guy. Best wishes for recoveries for all the injured and deepest sympathies to those families who have lost loved ones to this senseless act.
