Comments on: North Korea To Indict U.S. Journalists
Current TV Reporters Charged With Unspecified "Hostile Acts" After Alleged Border Incursion
- they shouldn't have been where they were, doing what they were doing. the two put themseves in harms way. but, if the U.S. is to be more of an influence it has to be able to back it up with conventional military might and to do that the Draft has to be put back in place. since the Draft won't be put back in place, the U.S. is seen as paper tigers especially since the world can see how there is no victory in iraq or afghanistan since 2001. stories of our obesity, our troops committing suicide, troops with mental problems on the Net for the world to read only confirms to them that the U.S. is, indeed, a paper tiger. bring back the Draft, and increase our ability to field boots on the ground. no one fears us any longer, not even ragged fighters anywhere.

- When two lowly journalist break laws to satisfy thier curiousity and the fall out is thier being jailed. Let this serve as a warning for the rest of the nosy people poking where they know is dangerous territory. Don't go where you know you could be jailed. fkem they need jailed and if they behead thier dumba--es ? I bet the next time a holyman says don't go over there. They will be believed. - Didn't they just pull this in Iran? Seems it's "open season" on indicting U.S. journalists. Do you think the world respects Obama or, do you think he is considered to be a weak fool? Obama, have Hillary put N. Korea on the "talk" list.

- Oh, no! It's time for "Aren't those Communists horrible" propaganda.
By the way, isn't the Prime Minister of North Korea a "daddy's boy" (just like George W. Bush)?
I've heard that daddy's boys are easy to manage because they're accustomed to being controlled by an authority figure. - Reply to this comment

- Well; now that we have a waffling; anti-war; tree hugging president, and a very very liberal left leaning congress, house and senate, you can expect saber rattling and threats from North Korea on a regular basis. And on top of this, you can expect they will execute these gals and taunt the US to "come and get them"... And; of course our waffling President won't do anything at all and just chalk it up to a simple loss.

- "searing : You are a moral idiot. The rest of the world does not measure how they treat their citizens or Americans by America's action. They are ruthless, no matter what. What world do you live in ?"

While I of course disagree that I'm a moral idiot, I do agree that many countries do not follow America's lead on how they treat their citizens or prisoners.
But the world is a work in progress, and we are supposed to be leading it to justice and the humane treatment of all.
And we can't do that if we are unjust and inhumane ourselves. Or we are no different than anyone else, and will sink into the same obscurity as most other countries.
History records that nations that have attempted to rule the world through brutality and force alone have always failed. Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union being two of the most modern, relevant, and recent examples.
America's moral authority once provided us with great power beyond that of mere arms, and has many times led others to act more humanely even if not originally in their nature. In fact one of the major reasons the Soviet Union fell was because their people simply wanted to be more like America.
So please, do not discount, or overrate, the power of good.
But instead hold it in balance, and reflect upon what it has achieved, and what it has failed to achieve.
And if you do so objectively, I think that you will find that their is indeed an inherent power in good, and an inherent weakness in evil.
For one upholds and uplifts humanity, while the other suppresses and cripples it.
