Depends on who wrote the moral laws.

It doesn't. Morality would be not wanting to do it in the first place. Wanting to do it but being concerned about the legal reprecussions makes it not a moral issue, but a legal one.

"moral laws"? That's just funny, were you attempting humor with that?

It's called open ended statement. Iy could have one of several meanings. Was curious to see what meaning would be given. Some what akin to visual inkblots.

then it really isn't a morality issue as much as it is an issue of avoiding jail.

Ichabod: If someone doesn't do something that they would otherwise do but they are stopped because they are concerned about the law, then it really isn't a morality issue as much as it is an issue of avoiding jail.

Okey dokie-if there is a God shouldn't we be hearing from him right about now? No, not your opinion or what you read somewhere or some minister type said-actually hearing from God.
There ain't that many moral laws left.

There probably should be laws against 'kissing cousins' having children (too late for Romania... LOL). But I'm OK with gay marriage, so don't see how this is a problem among consenting adults. Maybe counciling???

"What's the big deal? It's legal in France, Spain and Portugal, why not Romania? If they're consenting adults, who cares?" Posted by gravyboat63

I have a real problem with the "consenting adults" thing. If the US cannot agree, from state to state, on the minimum age to try a child as an adult, then how do we establish the age of consent to be molested by another family member? I can't quite get the image of young girls and boys being forced into submission out of my mind.

HHHMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!! It would seem that the only "virgins" in these four countrys are those girls that can outrun their brothers. I will stay here (in the USA) where the 'grass' is greener and I don't have to settle for 'reruns'.....

Incest should never be legalized. A dominant parent, sibling or blood relative could use their power and influence to intimidate and coerce another into so-called consenting acts. A person coerced, for example, may not be in their right mind or with limited capacity, and therefore led into such acts when had they the right mind and full capacity would more than likely never have engaged in such acts.

Can a person marry themselves ? Perhaps have carnal knowledge with oneself outside of marriage is a taboo sin , only remedied by a formal marriage ceremony and blessing by a frocked goat.

If law prevents them, they need to be protected from themselves. Possible children need to be protected from THEM.

Children deserve to grow up in a home where there is no question of their becoming a sexual partner to a close family member. Don't tell me that only 'consenting adults' will be affected by such behavior. Everyone will be affected. And who would determine just how 'consensual' such behavior really is? Really, the entire concept is sickening. Sure, one can't legislate morality. But laws should be made to give the innocent an extra layer of protection that acceptance of immorality in this case would take away. I suspect that in countries where there is no legal penalty for incest there is a tacit acceptance that such things happen and determining true consent would require a much deeper digging into the behavior that goes on behind closed doors in a family than most families would be willing to endure. People may say that what goes on between two consenting adults is no one's business. But within a blood related family, I doubt that it is such a 'victimless' crime - the amount of coercion, threats, or simple acceptance of perversion of normal affection that can go on within the family is so great that the potential damage to the entire family structure is limitless. Bringing children up in such an atmosphere of acceptance of a thing universally reviled in all cultures destroys their ability to become full, free adult citizens in their own right. It is an abomination.

Do men want to marry their livestock? Have any of your friends expressed a desire to marry their goats? Doesn't seem like a very reciprocal relationship, afterall they won't have much to talk about.

"Not everything "immoral" should be illegal."
Good qoute.
Are we a free society or a seminary?

What about smaller gov't,eh republicans? You sdont seem to mind government intrusion when it comes to enforcing your PERSONAL ideas of "morality" on other people..
What about liberty?

If you are harming no one else, what business is it of a governhment, whose purpose is to SERVE the people (not the other way around) to tell you how to live??

SCrew the invasion of governments. You can't LEGISLATE morality: you can only teach it through culture.

Morality, is\, after all, a product of the culture containing it..

There isnt one, "correct" culture, there's just the one YOU HAPPEN TO HAVE BEEN BORN INTO..

For example, if you were chinesse, it would not be "wrong" to eat dogs.
it would be normal..

The big mistake people make is not understanding cultures are differerent, and theirs is just one of many. Thankfully so too, one uni-culture would be stifling boring and terrible.. Which is what republicans want: a terrible stifling mono-culture of universal greed, capitalism, conformity, enforcment of "moral law" (like nazis for example) and universal diety worshipping..

Sounds awful!

Well, if we're redefining marraige as just a relationship between consenting adults, then why not let anyone marry anyone? Let sons marry their moms, sons marry their dads, daughters marry their dads.
Why stop there?
Let men marry their goat.

This is where Liberals around the world are leading us.

-------------------------------------------------

Yeah and let Rush Limbaugh marry Dick Cheney. See it helps the right wing too LOL!!!
