A four-month ceasefire between Israel and Palestinian militants in Gaza was in jeopardy today after Israeli troops killed six Hamas gunmen in a raid into the territory.

Hamas responded by firing a wave of rockets into southern Israel, although no one was injured. The violence represented the most serious break in a ceasefire agreed in mid-June, yet both sides suggested they wanted to return to atmosphere of calm.

Israeli troops crossed into the Gaza Strip late last night near the town of Deir al-Balah. The Israeli military said the target of the raid was a tunnel that they said Hamas was planning to use to capture Israeli soldiers positioned on the border fence 250m away. Four Israeli soldiers were injured in the operation, two moderately and two lightly, the military said.

Hamas is the democractically elected majority government of the Palestinians.

RE: "Without that nurtured hatred Hamas would have no reason to exist and the Palestinians would move to different leaders."

It seems like the brutal and illegal Israeli occupation, the land grabbing wall, illegal Israelis settlements, the Israeli practice of using Palestinians as Human Shields, and the targeting and killing of so many Palestinian civilians, mainly women and children, has led to the hostility that the Palestinians feel towards Israel.

Do you really think that the Palestinians will change their opinion of Israel, if they are forced to select new leaders?

Mel, you have got to keep up.

Global warming stopped 6 years ago. Some ice is melting and some is growing. The Arctic is right now at a 20 year high in ice.......

yourself5 yes you are right about Jews serving in the german army, many will say that it was to save their own lives, but many thought that they were being patriotic..
German Jews, unlike many of their Eastern European counterparts, tended to be highly assimilated. Most of them were educated, professional, and urban. They saw themselves and, until the National Socialist takeover, were largely seen as German, as part of the national culture. Indeed, many of them had even served in the German military in World War I. They were patriotic.
For many Mischlinge, serving in the Wehrmacht was a matter of survival -- a way of fitting in rather than sticking out, a potential shield against extermination. For others, however -- particularly those with more tenuous Jewish roots -- it was an expression of genuine nationalism. Not that they subscribed to Nazi ideology, but they felt a deep loyalty to the German nation and wanted to serve it.
Most knew nothing of the Final Solution -- the Nazi plan for liquidating the Jewish population -- until late in the war, when they began to learn of some of their own Jewish relatives'' being butchered.
There were about 150,000 Jews and half-Jews, who served in the Wermacht during World War II.
Dont all nations have traitors to their own people..

Correction-

Here is what an Israeli military spokesperson said, after the Israelis invaded Gaza on November 5, 2008, and attacked and killed at least 6 Palestinians, in gross and direct violation of the cease-fire agreement-

"There is no intention to disrupt the ceasefire, rather the purpose of the operation was to remove an immediate and dangerous threat posted by the Hamas terror organization."

Jewish savagery is the subject of the day, whether by their monstrous attack on women and children or by their treachery that leads to the loss of lives by other means.

They aren''t attacking women and children

IMHO, the Israelies have made a political decision to irradicate Hamas once and for all and they do not want a cease fire until it is finished.

Hamas has brought this on themselves as they exist only through hatred of Israel. Without that nurtured hatred Hamas would have no reason to exist and the Palestinians would move to different leaders.

Hell they''''ll even call science false and say Global Warming isn''''t happening all in the name of oil.

They''''ll turn a blind eye to Israel''''s actions that harm us. Some friend.

We have been in global cooling mode since 1998, no global temperature increases since then.

The Israelis claimed to have found a tunnel attributed to Hamas.

Certainly not a valid reason for the Israelis to violate the cease-fire agreement.

The promises of the Israeli leaders do not appear to be of much value.

Is it irrational to hate the people who have caused the most deaths and loss of valuable state secrets than any other group in the history of the United States? If so, I''''m guilty. I hate traitors.

You''re just making up excuses because by your own posting you hate Jews.

RE: "Seven Hamas officials crossed into Egypt on Friday through the Gaza border crossing at Rafah, on their way to Cairo for Egyptian-hosted negotiations on a truce with Israel."

"The Islamic militant group, which was behind suicide bombings that killed hundreds of Israelis in past years, has been largely shunned by Western powers since coming to political power in 2006 Palestinian elections."

These "Western powers" can''t claim to be proponents of democracy, if they refuse to recognize democratically elected government officials, such as the Palestinian Hamas government leadership.

Unlike the Bush regime, the Hamas government appears to have been legitimately elected.

yourself, actually, the most espionage conducted against America has been by the Chinese. They are required to be registered by customs and considered spies if they were born in mainland China.

Hopefully the Israelis will be held to account for targeting and killing so many civilians.

You''re being propogandized just the same way Hizbollah did, we have a willing media filled with lazy people who will print anything rather than investigate. Hizbollah put dozens of people in a building in Lebaon, blew it up and tried to blame Israel. This is the kind of people you are supporting.

er heard 9/11 described as a "massacre." But beyond that, how do you defend the fact that Jews have been, and are, the largest ethnic group in the the United States ever that has engaged in espionage against the US.

Posted by yourself5 at 09:56 PM : Jan 09, 2009

Good topic naybe but it doesn''t anything to do with the topic posted by CBS.
You posted all this same stuff last week, it''s a straw man arguement. You just hate Jews face it and stop being irrational.
