-Now, MY question for you, what would you do if you were blockaded for this long with 1,5M people like you in an open air prison 25 by 4 miles?
-------------------------------------------------

What would I do? First, I would reach out to the Fatah leaders in the west bank, and form a national unity government. That would require surrendering some power, but I would do it for the sake of my people. I would consolidate the many, many militias and private armies of the various Palestinian factions into a single Palestinian Army, and would kill anyone who made war on Israel except my national army. I would amend the charter that calls for Israel''s destruction and instead insert a clause to seek a just and lasting peace between all peoples in the region. Hopefully Israel would respond positively to these moves. If not, I would use world opinion, combined with the lack of aggression from my side, to force them to open the ports. Once I had shown that I controlled my own people (something no Palestinian leader has ever done) and that Israel actually had something to gain from negotiating with me, I would press for a just and lasting two-state solution on the rough outlines of the 1967 borders, but willing to compromise trading some currently occupied Palestinian land in return for Israeli land, so that Israel has a defensible border in case Palestinians turn to war again. (continued above due to CBS 1500 character limit)

You know how long it took before the PLO puts down it armed struggle in favor of negotiation? Hamas'''' stated goals are negotiation tools. If they find the right conditions, they will sign for their people, with no future regret. They are accutely aware of the political environment around them. Things became clear, even more when they have been ''''dumped'''' by their Arab brethren. On purpose or not!

Hamas doesn''t care about political realities, this is what happens when religion with a bent on violence is your only compass. You are being conned by all of this, they don''t think like you do. Israel would have left them alone after 2003, all they had to do was not start any violence and leave Israel alone. The Israeli goverment used violence aginst it''s own people to remove them from Gaza.

-First don''t call them terrorsits because they have been elected by over 50 percent of Palestinians under the explicit scritny of the Internationl community observers in 2006,
-Second, Hamas was considering the signature of an enduring peace deal, after the last TRUCE. That is what was said all around without making big noise. Hamas was considering Fatah too corrupt for Palestinians (leaving more money into Fatah''''s pockets and Arafat''''s widow than in the coffers of the Palestinian Authority-You all remember that, don''t you?). Hamas was truly negotiating for the Palestinians, Fatah was negotiating for themself.

-I think that Israel has got no other choice but to negotiate with Hamas and consider it as a valuable partner,
-I''m pretty positive about a good turnout after this war. IDF will redraw from Gaza. Hamas will sit oround the table and they will negotiate a dignified peace deal for the Palestinians into two viable states living next to the other.

First--- just because they were elected doesn''t resovle or alleviate the fact they were aleady considered a "terrorist organization" by the US, Eu and Un. They were considered a terrorist Org. before the elections---- the election didn''t change that!

Second--- read the Hamas mantra---- then tell me how you feel!!

Third--- there should be no Hamas left to sit around a negotiating table after this--- they sould be burnt toast in the desert!

-They can try, but they won''''t because they know it won''''t work. They know! That specific region is too mixed of religions and trends to impose a unformed mode of life. But they have the right to defend their majority muslim population and represent it like the Kakh and other ultraorthodox and ultra-nationalist Jews are having in Knesset.

They, Islamists, are taking over the Sudan as we speak, 200,000 or 400,000, depending which UN agency you want to believe. Dead from shooting-hacking to death and worst of all starvation mostly children. How come this isn''t front page news it dwarfs what is going on in the Middel East, no Arab goverment screaming about needing to stop all of it.
1 it''s advancing the cause of Islam
2 no Jews involved in any of it
3 they don''t want the world to know what it is they are doing
4 no big careers can be made out of the Sudan genocide by the media or bottom feeding politician. Ruwanda''s 800,000 dead was the same thing, covered up by the UN, ignored Jack Chirac and Bill Clinton. The French were selling weapons to one side during the Ruwanden genocide. But no Jews were involved.

A truce to Hamas, Hizbollah, Fatah is called a HUDNA. A Strategic ceasefire aimed at getting the enemy off your back and giving you time to rearm and reorganize and plan new attacks. This has happened dozens of time over the last 40 years.
Hamas is not interested in peace, peace with Israel is not one of their stated goals.

Yasir Arafat did not accept peace - if he had this would not be taking place.

July 2000 Camp David peace negotiations that Arafat and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak attended - Arafat rejected a transfer of 92 percent of the West Bank and all of Gaza to a Palestinian state, along with some control over East Jerusalem.

Not only that he went out and had his goons start the Intifada(terror war) to cover his trucks.

Hamas is still a terror organization, doesn''t matter if 100 percent of the people voted for them.

Their goal is the destruction of Israel, it''s in their Hamas Charter. They got Gaza all to themselves, no Israeli squaters living there, and what have they done with it, nothing but turn it into a terrorist training and breeding camp. Hamas is like Hizbollah, AQ, Mullahs of Iran, Fatah, Wahabis they want to take over the world and turn it into another Afghanistan or Iran. Is this what you really want????

Hmmm . . . . but isn''''t it strange how the U.S. can flex its muscles when it wants its way but ignores the U.N. when it refused to sanction the invasion of Iraq? And with all the opinions here, how many of you know about U.S. agents removing 8,000 pages from Saddam''''s U.N. report on his arsenal? Ignored by the U.S. press but well known in Europe. Simply another prime example of how impotent, worthless and usless the UN really is. They have no repect, authority or control over any issue or organization in the world. There needs to be a complete revamp of what is now the UN--- they are simply worhtless and usless in todays world!

-Hamas has been launching those rockets over Israeli Cities only during the last six months of the truce that held strongly to and respected by Hamas.

-------------------------------------
First off, though the rocket and mortar fire definitely slacked off during the truce, it never stopped. The point of a ceasefire is that the shooting stops. Also, the best that Hamas was willing to offer Israel in the way of negotiation was essentially "Yes, we''re sworn to kill you all, but we won''t kill you right away." They have never amended their charter which called for the destruction of Israel and the establishment of an Islamic state there. Israel has consistently allowed shipments of food, medicine and oil in, but how much are you really required to support the people who are shooting at you? The people of Palestine are what they have always been, pawns and human shields of militants with an agenda. That''s not Israel''s fault.

(I will deal with you question to me in next post)

You mean no one had made any copies of this and it wasn''t on a hard drive at the UN. You have to be running a quart low to buy into that one.

-Compared to 2 tons (4,400 pounds) bombs launched over Gaza... Please for God sake, stop those ridiculous comparisons! Hamas was just causing pressure over the Dumb Israelis living in the South, who were stupid enough to swallow the Likud (Irgun) speech and take them as alternative to the Kadima formation in the Next legislative elections.

-All in all Kadima, if elected, will owe Hamas a great service. See how intelligent some politicians are?

Posted by trishab59 at 10:45 PM : Jan 04, 2009

Israel isn''t just lobbing bombs anywhere and everywhere, Hamas is. Trying to minimize what Hamas is doing, you have bought into their propoganda line. They are part of the world wide Islamist thuggery bent on taking over the world, they have many names but the same goal, Hamas-Hizbollah-AQ. You have to learn to separate Hamas from the ordinary person living in Gaza. Google the Hamas Charter.

The ordinary people in Gaza would probably like what most people want in life to be left alone with their families. Problem is a lot of them have bought into this religious hatred, they were dumb enough to elect Hamas. You''re defending the worst of the worst.

Egypt has had their border with Gaza closed longer than Israel has. How come Hamas isn''''t attacking Eygpt like the are Israel. The Egyptian would roll over them and kill them all.
It''''s about religion , google Hamas'''' Charter and read it, they are pure evil relgious psychco''''s just like the ones running Iran who created Hizbollah.

I think it''''s only in an effort to express the ingnorance of the the Hamas to think that they can come to the party with with sticks and stones and these unguided rockets and expect to defeat the Mirkeva tanks and the heavy artillery, and the bombing power from the IAF and the Israeli Navy. It''''s simply ignorance!

Posted by roscoe2400 at 10:46 PM : Jan 04, 2009

Their real goal is to get as many civilians killed as possible everywhere they go and blame the other side who they hate. Libs will readily blame Israel or the US because they know it''s not going to cost them anything and it makes them feel good.
Did you ever see a bottle of urine with an effigy of Muhammed in it at any of the, Lib, art shows in N York?

These bottle rockets as some people would have you believe Hamas is launching.
A US M67 hand grenade weighs 14 ounces, warhead on some of these rockets weigh up to 20 pounds.
If you have seen the damage a 14 ounce hand grenade can do, you wouldn''''t be calling these Hamas weapons bottle rockets.
