He is hypocritical to criticize others for selfishness while clad in his golden robes and Gucci slippers as some of you have already pointed out; however, I don''t think he''s any worse than any other "socially conscious" celebrity who complains about financial inequality while being on the favorable end of it himself and expecting others to go into their pockets to help level the playing field while he just sits by.

The Lord Jesus Christ traveled light and in many cases only wore a clean white cloth that today resembles a common bed sheet. Jesus Christ not only rejected material wealth and assets, he didn''t even wear cheap costume jewelry!

"It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God" (Mark 10:25)

"Pope Decries Selfishness In Economic Crisis" while sitting in his ''Golden Chair!'' in a place that has collected so much MONEY!!! from people over the years that it became an independent place. In the news this week, tithes were down 20% in the U.S., so church revenues could be 3 billion less this year. I''m asking myself when, WHEN will people wake up!

The only resemblance between Jesus and any of the popes is that they were/are men. Place a picture of Jesus next to one of the pope and it becomes apparent. Jesus wears a simple somewhat tattered robe and the pope wears one of the most elegant one that can be devised by man. Jesus served man, men serve the pope.

Somehow I don''''t think the Pope''''s Jesus would care for Ahmadinejad''''s Jesus and his jihad *** plan!

The pope "decries" selfishness while standing dressed in a golden-laced robe and all the billion-dollar riches his church continues to hoard in the vatican city while the poor and starving continue to suffer all over the world.

What would your jesus do, pope?

The Pope is echoing what every other messenger of God is holding out to their congregations on this special day... and, apparently from the posts on this site, is being, largely, ignored... it is time for love and caring and tolerance. Our existence, as a species, will depend on our own ability to resist hatred and bitterness and condemnation. And for those who ''detest'' the Pope or the Mormons or .. the (fill in the blanks)please consider that you don''t have to agree with them.. or like them... or invite them to Sunday brunch but back off just a little and afford them just a wee bit of respect for following their own heartfelt beliefs. Like it or not, my friends, we are all on this old and leaky boat together and unless we learn to row... together, we will all sink....together.
And for what it may be worth yo you... have a Merry and Happy and Peaceful Christmas...

"Pope decries selfishness"

A little ironic coming from a man sitting on a throne of gold in a city of gold, lest we forget "thou shalt have no other Gods before me."

These hypocrites that call themselves Popes (my father) should be the first to sell off their properties, gold ornaments, and humble themselves.

They should also denounce the Federal Reserve System which part of the private central banking systems that loot the world.

This image of the pope exemplifies power, control, greed, wealth and an excess of pride. There is nothing about this man that has anything to do with betterment or quality of humanity.

It is surely time for men to think for themselves, and to throw off the authority of names so artificially magnified threw power and fame to rob the minds of the people
