cdfoxtrot6,
What if it was a cop?
Do you know that a man got five years for a garden hose?
we are talking about the President!

If someone gets five years for firing a shoe, that''s beyond absurd. I don''t see that the fact that it was thrown at the shrub should justify five years. By all accounts, the journalist has been beaten to a pulp. Unlike Bush, he has paid a penalty for his actions. Bush is lucky not to be charged with war crimes for what he has done.

People need to decide what kind of world they want to live in. If you can end up tortured and beaten, and thrown in prison for five years for throwing a shoe, we all have reason to worry.

This latest incident points up yet again that we are interfering in what amounts to a family argument, and sticking our noses where they are not wanted. -- We are just being used. -- The man was beaten. -- By his own people. -- But that''s what they DO. -- Notice how every time anyone wants to just talk, somebody there gets violent?? -- Why do you think that is?? -- Could it be that they have no tradition of controlled self governance, that war and violence is what they use to get what they want?? -- And what makes us think that we are the ones to teach them any better?? -- It''s nothing more than ongoing bedlam and mayhem. -- Everyone on this planet could be lying in the street, bleeding, and STILL they would be jumping up and down, waving their guns around, and screaming. -- It''s nothing more than primitive, juvenile blood-lust, and they should grow up already! -- It''s enough, we all get it. -- Don''t keep letting them incorporate the rest of the world in their dance of idiocy and madness. -- Everyone''s tried to be tolerant, but the rest of Planet Earth has rights, too. -- Not just them. -- We all have a right to our own cultures, and to peace, and to gentle society, without war and bloodshed.

For throwing a shoe? Are you for real?

Is this the "Eye-Rack" we were promised? Is this where the trillion dollars was thrown away, so they could continue to mistreat their own population?

The moron-in-chief should intervene, encouraging an end to the beatings he''s getting, and his immediate release.

Well, the incident was probably a tad embarrassing for Bush, but not nearly as embarrassing as being arrested for High Crimes at the conclusion of the Jan 20th inauguration. This is really gonna make the news, I tell ya.

Common guys. Not only is this story bogus. The whole shoe throwing incident was bogus as well. It was nothing but stagecraft, to take attention away from the fact that Bush was signing a withdrawal agreement that included a timetable.

So instead of talking about how "no timetable Bush" somehow now believes a timetable is okay, we are busy talking about a staged shoe throwing incident.

Do you really think that our secret service is so lousy, that a guy could yell and run toward the president, throw a shoe, yell some more while he reaches down to take off his other shoe, then yell some more while he throws that shoe, and there still be 2 seconds that pass before the secret service even reaches Bush.

You''ve got to be kidding me.

Even if Bush was in the safety of the United States, the secret service would have been at Bush''s side before the first shoe reached the president. But here you have Bush in a hostile country and the secret service detail is so lousy that a guy has time to throw two shoes at Bush before they reach him. And it wasn''t even the Secret Service that initially brought down the guy.

Am I off base here?

If this is the type of protection the secret service provides now, then our country is in more trouble than we know.

CaribouBarbi- You would have been b itch-slapped in one of Saddams rape houses. Your hero supported him and in order to feel justified in your post you really should look up the estimates of Saddam''s killing fields. Bush stopped him and we will be leaving shortly, Saddam''s agenda was for a lifetime. I wish you were an Iraqi under Saddams rule, you seem to love hime soooo much.

"You can bet your bottom dollar this guy was beaten, tortured, and given the old Abu Graib treatment"

===================

We can only hope. I may not be Bush''s biggest fan, but any foreigner who assaults our president should at least recieve a few kidney shots. He''s lucky the secret service didn''t shoot him.

This story is sooooo FAKE!!! Its clear that this selfless man did not ask for a pardon as he and the whole world knows that he did nothing wrong. His country has been made one big concentration camp under the Nazi Jack Boot..He stood bravely in defiance of injustice and tyranny..May God have Merci upon him as he endures torture at the hands of Saten

Thing is, this guy is right. Bush is a dog and he''s killed more Iraqis than Sadam ever dreamed of.

He''s a hero.

al-Zeidi throws a temper tantrum and then he is contrite and says he is bad. Pathetic, who in their right mind would assault a world leader (one who liberated him}. Can you imagine someone here in the U.S. throwing something at Putin? No way, we don''t like Putin but we are not ignorant of the consequences, time behind bars.

Whether or not we support a cruel dictator has nothing to do with a needless fiasco of an occupation to steal oil for the greedy fascist United Stated government (that is run by the big corporations, one of the key characteristics of a fascist state).

Any history of the Iraq fiasco -- the illegal U.S. invasion, occupation and brutalization of Iraq -- will have to include several images. One is the U.S. military pulling down the statue of Saddam and claiming it was done by the Iraqis. Next our buffoon president Bush on the aircraft carrier with the "Mission Accomplished" banner. And of course, U.S. military and intelligence personnel engaged in sexual humiliation and torture of prisoners. And finally, this brilliant and brave act of defiance in what Bush hoped would be a moment of redemption. Redemption? He was called a dog, accused (correctly) of creating tens of thousands of widows and orphans. And the entire world proclaiming it an act of justifable and appropriate justice. One thing is certain, George Bush will not be able to go any where on the planet without someone condemning him as a war criminal, a fascist and a conservative Christian hypocrite.

This guy was a Saddam supporter and then later an al sadr follower, his sympathies did not lie with his people until he saw his chance at fame. If you care so much for your countrymen, why would you support Saddam, a cruel dictator?
