- this article directly rebutts the beliefs of most who frequent these posts, People like Hungry have stated over and over that the middle east does not want democracy and America is forcing it. The reality is we are enabling it, and the real truth is ALL HUMANS WANT FREEDOM AND DEMOCRACY regardless of race, religion, or creed.

- Iran is a classic example of how dystopic a nation becomes when religion is injected into the political process. Not that secular dictatorships are O.K. - they are not. But the fanaticism that comes with religious mania when insinuated into positions of power such as the Mullahs in Iran through their mouthpiece, Ahmadinejad, is a particularly nasty cancer infecting the entire society.
Examples of other pernicious theocratic dictatorships include:
Afganistan under the Taliban.
16th century France and Spain under the Roman Catholics.
The Soviet Union under Marxism.
Red China under Marxism.
North Korea under the Jongs.
Romania under Ceausceau.
There are many others.
And a near miss......The United States under the reich-wing''s vision of Apocalyptic Christianity aided and abetted by His Bushness. Without what''s left of our constitution, I shudder to think where we would be now. - Reply to this comment
- Once the Iranian government has them executed for being G*A*Y. Things will all go back to normal. Whatever that is in Iran. That will be their explanation, of course, they were all g*a*y and needed purification under Sharia Law.

- Students of Iran, I salute you and your bravery for democratic reform. You have a ruthless dictator whom like in China may come after you in tanks. They will not give up power eaisly not that they have it.

- They need to drag the old clerics and puppet politicians out into the street and hang them all. They are overdue for the next revolution!

- Education is not compatible with religion. It doesn''t matter the religion or country. Religion is only compatible with indocrination....anywhere.
