- Universal health care is not necessarily socialized medecine. In France people go to private doctors of their choosing and get reimbursed by the government. There are no waiting lists. People can buy supplemental private insurance if they want to. Britain and Canada have socialized medecine where doctors are state employees. They all still rank ahead of the U.S. is terms of health care.
