even the leaders are poor in somalia..
..and "education system"?
You''re kidding right?
Somalia is little more than a wasteland.. They only harvest bullets there, and blood.
Constant strife..

Speedboats on the HIGH SEAS?? Somethings is fishy here.. They must be launching from some hertofore unsuspected larger ship.. A speedboat is simply not sea-worthy, and since when can a speedboat have the fuel capacity to launch out from 400 miles away, and JUST HAPPEN TO GET LUCKY and find a large ship..
This sounds like either an inside job of some sort, or a well-financed job from a larger organization with info coming from shipping companies or port authorities.
Finding a ship from a speedboat on the open sea is not very likely.
Perhaps its a mafia type thing, or these guys are not simple pirates, but a front for gathering easy cash to fund some insurgency somewhere..
I find it hard to beleieve that ships are this defenseless. Have you seen how tall an oil tanker is?
How do they get aboard without help from the crew?? From a motorboat??
BULLSHIITE
Wouldn''t a couple of shots from a bazooka take out a motorboat??
These guys aint buying corvettes with the money, this is going to finance serious weaponry for some scum warlord or terrorists somewhere..
NATO needs to get serious about this; why not send out a blackhawk as soon as a pirate ship is spotted hunting a ship and blow it out of the water?

This seizure and story of all this story of the Pirates seizing an oil tanker will make the price of gasoline go up tomorrow. The stock market will reflect this seizure. It is time for the dictator of Somalia to take charge and take these pirates out. People in Somalia are very poor because there leaders only want to fatten their own pockets and care nothing about there people. How much money has the U.S. government sent to Somalia this year??? All I know about Somalia is that it is another 3rd world country that is ravaged by crime, poor education system, crime and poor health conditions.
How many of these countries will Obama help. Probably Kenya to start with. The United Nations need to step in a call for a halt of these Pirates being able to kidnapp people and take these ships.

So what has George and our U.S. government going to do about this...of course, they are going to leave up to Obama and his team to take care of. I don''t think these pirates are from Somalia. I think they are from another country and paying off the Somalia government officials in money and oil. I think this is going to be the starting of another war. We don''t have enough Navy and or troops to send into this region. Soon, we will have the "draft", as we will have to build up our troops to protect our country along our own borders. Let the games begin.

The Saudis will likely pay the ransom with US dollars. When are we going to stop buying oil? I have been running my car on biodiesel for 3 years.

Seems the more America tries to help other nations the more B.S. criticism gets tossed around.
Instead of "a day without a Mexican" we should implement " a year without help from America"

LOL! Good one.

But no, then we''ll be accused of turning our backs on the world. They''ll say "You should have DONE SOMETHING."

But when we do something they say "Stay out of the affairs of other countries."

But when whe stay out they say "You should have done something."

But when we do something...

It''s lonely at the top. The only consolation is, you get to kick but anytime, anywhere...

"The pirates are trained fighters, often dressed in military fatigues, using speedboats equipped with satellite phones and GPS equipment. They are typically armed with automatic weapons, anti-tank rockets launchers and various types of grenades."
--------------------------------------------
This comment is not intended to defend the pirates. It seems that the nationality of the pirates is not Somali even if they operate out of or near Somali water. They are well equipped sped boots that the Somali could not afford as one of the poorest nations for decades. Somalia is without government for many years while poverty and chaos is all the land. Somali people are friendly, poor and do not have the means not the guts to go out that far off shore. These pirates are most likely well trained outsiders taking advantage of the conditions in Somalia and may be paying part of the ransom money to locals on land. There must be a huge organization behind these attacks that provides the weapons and GPS, not just single bandits.

They are not Pirates but acting as Somali Coastguards. Those criminal companies must be brought to justice.

Those who commented here to destoroy the Somali ports with uranium jacketed cluster bombs, hahah.., you are simply idiots. This can never happen, if so, our uranium is AK 47, RPG, and Anti-air craft guns, these simple weapons will kick your *** out of the Somali Waters.

400 miles from the coast is in national waters, that makes them lying thieves just like you. Saddam had anti-aircraft guns also, they didn''t help him at all. If you can''t find it, you cant shoot it down.

What you called Piracy is the result of Illegal Fishing and dumping Nuclear Waste off Somali Coast by European, Asian and American companies. They are not Pirates but acting as Somali Coastguards. Those criminal companies must be brought to justice.

"why not just simply destroy their ports with tomahawk missiles"
"Send a Seal Team and Kill them all this can not be allowed to continue... "

How about the rest of the international community take care of this one. Seems the more America tries to help other nations the more B.S. criticism gets tossed around.

why not just simply destroy their ports with tomahawk missiles, just simply massacre all the speed boats parked in the harbor.

This is another good reason for America to drill it''''s own domestic oil. Piracy has been around for centuries but they have never really been taken seriously maybe now they should be made to walk the plank?

Obama rule out no drilling a week ago...
