How sad. This man not only loved animals in his keep, but he cared for them as family. Knut was lovingly cared for and raised by this man. Blessings for him and his family.

I wounder why so many people like to put others down and make rude and nasty remarks.

I see that U2PlayNice remarks have been removed. GOOD..

I remember Mr. Doerflein and the Bear. He did a great job and he will be remembered in a positive note.

God bless his family..........

U2PlayNice - what goes around comes around. No one dislikes Palin more than me, but I know better than to wish something like that. You will reap what you sow. What an inappropriate comment to make. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with this story.

The bottom line is that this man tried as best he could to help Knut. He did the best he could as we all should. Get over yourself U2PlayNice.

rosenpearls, lets face it, caribu barbie doens''t even have the brains. She wants to take polar bears off the endangered list so her pals at BP can drill, drill and drill. Personally speaking Caribu is a GOP BIMBO!

Maybe Knut was getting to big for his britches & the trainer tried to take him down a notch.

There was arguing......a struggle.....the cover-up.....

I''m very sad to read this news. I appreciated his hard work and love for little Knut (Big Knut now!) and know that his efforts really brought attention to the Berlin Zoo. My daughter was in Berlin recently, and Knut is still a big part of why people love polar bears there. My condolences to his friends and family.

Do not even think about putting Sarah Palin''s name in the same sentence with creapy, disgustin, community organizer, trouble maker Al Sharpton. This article is about the loss of a life, keep your weird politics in a more appropriate zoo.

That''s awful - I have an early picture of the two on my wallpaper. Your family and Knut will miss you, Thomas.
