The core of this movement, unlike the British tradition, was not so much a definite political doctrine as a general mental attitude, a demand for an emancipation from all prejudice and all beliefs which could not be rationally justified, and for an escape from the authority of ''priests and kings''. Its best expression is probably B. de Spinoza''s statement that ''he is a free man who lives according to the dictates of reason alone''.
Still from Hayak

That will do for starters.

Liberalism

F. A. Hayek

Look up the subject in Google if you really want to know about liberalism. Here are a few ideas by F. A. Hayek:

The one tradition, much older than the name ''liberalism'', traces back to classical antiquity . . . took form during the late 17th & 18th centuries as the political doctrines of the English Whigs. Was model of most of the European nineteenth%u2011century liberalism followed. It . . . demanded a deliberate reconstruction of the whole of society in accordance with principles of reason. This approach derived from the new rationalist philosophy developed above all by Reni Descartes (but also by Thomas Hobbes in Britain) and gained its greatest influence in the eighteenth century through the philosophers of the French Enlightenment. Voltaire and J.%u2011J. Rousseau were the two most influential figures of the intellectual movement that culminated in the French Revolution and from which the Continental or constructivistic type of liberalism derives. "Could one of the liberal-bashers please define liberal? Remember, a definition is rational not emotional. "

In the modern era, the term ''liberal'' holds some general characteristics found to a greater or lesser degree in those that espouse their core principles. Here are some key examples:

1 - a pervasive sense of anti establishmentism held as virtue unto itself, regardless of the merits of said establishment. This results in the often baffling bizzaro-world sort of mindset where all things even vaguely part of ''the establishment'' are not only rejected, but attacked with malice. Examples include America, Christianity, Judaism, Capitalism, Corporations, males, marriage, etc...

2 - Following point # 1, this leads the modern liberal to embrace & aid such things as socialism & communism as well as the rulers that promote this (Chavez & Castro)

3 - Following points 1 & 2 above. The modern liberal feels justified in engaging in things like censorship & the manipulation of facts as a righteous means toward whatever ends may be in fashion at the moment - debate & dialogue toward truth are not in their plans.

4 - the modern liberal has demonstrated in many ways that they would wholeheartedly endorse any defeat against the United States, including another successful terror attack, so long as it can be used as political leverage in the attainment of partisan control over governing bodies.

Why would any non Muslim person would even go into a Muslim Country when Jihad against all Christians has been declared.

What on earth could there possibly be in the Sahara desert that would make anyone expose themselves to the heat, sand storms, sand mites, and Muslim terrorists that would make it worth the risk of going there?
