@callurfears, if you call 9 straight years of rapid growth an ''economy in shambles'', then I guess you have a premise of sorts.

But since your premise isn''t based on any reality, I don''t know why you typed your whole comment.

On August 7th, 2008 the Georgians attacked this Russian city with aerial bombardments and ground attacks against civilian targets, such as residential areas, hospitals, and the university. Initially, 1,500 civilians were killed in this vicious attack. Artillery and aerial bombardments continued until Tskhinvali, the provincial capital, was without water, food, electricity, and gas. Russia anticipated the attack and retaliated fiercely by attacking Georgia with a large-scale invasion of that country. Georgia is an outpost of U.S. and NATO forces and is located on the border of the Russian Federation. South Ossetia also contains strategic oil and gas pipeline routes. The London Daily Mail is calling this the pipeline war because it is through this region that much of Europe%u2019s oil is piped. There is much propaganda regarding this series of events.. and the American news media is majoring on the evil of the Russian response and not blaming Georgia for starting this bloody war. There is much circumstantial evidence that President Bush and leaders in Israel encouraged the attack on Russia.

Now that the United States and Poland signed a missile shield deal, Russia is threatening a military response against the United States. Will President Bush succeed in getting us into a war with the Russians before he leaves office? God help us during these perilous times!

I don''''t suppose any of you are old enough to remember what happened when Russia tried to put a defensive (So they said) missile base in Cuba, do you? We just about told Russia about what they''''re telling us today. Do it and we''''ll not be responsible for what happens next but you will remove the missiles. As children we practiced missile drills by hiding under our desks. Certain that we were about to be annihilated. De Ja Vue all over again.

This I think is really the ultimate goal. Too many people making to many problems for the Ruling Elite.
Why not just rid the Planet of those pesky "People", and the Ruling Elite could all live in waterfront mansions surrounded by nothing but millions of acres of vacant property. It''''s the Neocon Wet Dream.
Putin''''s just playing his role in the play. He has his future waterfront mansion all picked out, just like the rest of them.
What, you didn''''t know all these guys have meetings and discuss these things???
Well, basically, if you''''re not a member of the Ruling Elite, you''''re going to need asbestos panties sometime in the near future.

Ahhhh but they need the peons to clean and cook for them, manicure their nails, raise their children and do all the work they are above.
Oh wait---that would be the uneducated current people working in sweat shops for next to nothing--
You''re right---no more middle class.

I thought we became a different world after September 11?

And if we had state-ran television in America, what would the liberals say then?

Sanction all you want. Winter is coming and if you want your stove and furnace to work you better back down unless you still remember how to burn coal and that is hard to get these days and expensive.

"In France, the European Union''s 27 foreign ministers were reluctant to provoke Moscow, with French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner saying the EU did not plan to impose sanctions against Russia."

From CBS news

All you America-haters should go ahead and move to Mother Russia!! You definitely wouldn''t get to say the stuff you do here were you living over there! Makes no difference your political preferences - Americans need to stick together to face down the Bear, then worry about petty politics. Get your priorities in order, please!!

No one in the EU will support sanctions. To bad Bush cant keep his nose out of it. First aid ship that shows up with weapons will be sunk. Putin made that very clear. Time to get those ships out of there. They are sitting ducks and do not think Russia does not have its finger on the trigger.

"Another arms race with Russia will mean many more trillions for them, although an actual shooting war would wipe out all us peons who don''''t have money for underground shelters.

And their war on freedom and our Constitution has also been largely successful.

True, true!

Although the elite shouldn''t think they can emerge unscathed from THEIR underground shelters after any kind of nuclear exchange with the Russians. That is complete insanity, and anyone even suggesting it should be locked up for the general good.

All they will come out to is a ruined planet. And, they might have to do their own work for a change. They can eat any contaminated crops they can grow.

And their children will be born dead or deformed, even unto the third and fourth generation.

The living would envy the dead.

And any Repugnicsum troll on this thread who says to the contrary is an utter fool and knave.

My friend , Russia doesn`t need Europe or America today,
It has China wich is next door and 1/2 of the world population, India (more than 5 times the USA population), Africa, the Middle East,..the list can go on.
You need to have Russia as a friend at the present time.

Russian blustering is like water off a duck''s butt. Russia should also remember, while they threaten to cut off oil and gas to the West. You can''t even feed your own people. And they can''t eat oil and gas.

It sure is appropriate how the CBS censors think Dik Cheney''s name is an obscenity!

The man himself is an obscenity--a hulking, menacing sociopath.

The man needs to be incarcerated for the good of humanity.

"Vice President *** Cheney, at an economic meeting Saturday in Italy, blasted Russian actions in the war as an "affront to civilized standards" and said Moscow has given "no satisfactory justification" for invading Georgia. "

Dik Cheney is an affront to civilized standards. There is no satisfactory justification for his fascist trashing of the US Constitution.

Dik needs to go home to his guarded estate among the uber-rich of Wyoming. Maybe those people want him. The rest of us sure don''t.

Dik--shut up and sit down before you cause any more damage!
