I''m sure Saddam would have appreciated your support! But, oh well, he got what he deserved. Don''t worry the terrorists still need your support, so keep up same, it only further emboldens us real Americans. You%u2019re the real enemy. Paid mercenaries? How dare you. Make your claims of Jihad somewhere else, and don%u2019t let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya (or in your case the adversary), and give Amerjinidad our regards. - Reply to this comment
- To rawkinkaide: Please tell us more about the ''American Nationals'' we invaded Iraq to protect. I like political fiction, even if it''s part fairy tale.

- List of countries I really don''t care about: Every country but the US. I''m sure there are problems with our Georgia. I like peaches from Georgia in the US, I don''t get anything from the Georgia that has been in trouble with Russia. Seems to me there are a lot of countries bordering Russia that haven''t been attacked. They must be doing something right. Really not our problem...

- To Prudentvoter: Go dust off that picture of Uncle Joe. Maybe this winter you can vacation at a nice Gulag to get the full experience.

- Lastly, if we Americans are such imperialists as some on this blog would seem to infer with their incendiary comments, how come we aren''t running Japan or Germany? Where is all the Michael Moore, Moveon.org alleged oil money we supposedly went to war for? These are the same people who believe 9-11 was a conspiracy inflicted by our own govt. Again, where are these people when it comes to the real dangers facing this world %u2013 i.e. the terrorists who could care less about their liberal ideologies. In fact, they would be the first to go under an fanatical Islamic govt. Wake up the rest of you who still have some common sense and decency left; choose your side accordingly!

- Somebody said our armed forces are VOLUNTARY. They used to be VOLUNTARY. Now they are no more than paid mercenaries. Their salaries, pension payments and related industrial military activities are bankrupting the country. They insist on fighting wars that we do not want them to fight and kill poor innocent people who happen to live in the countries they invade. This is not about democracy and freedom, this is about greed and big business.

- While Chaimberland did nothing and the rest of the world sat idle . . . . Czechoslovakia, then Poland. Some people have short memories. They cannot even remember 9-11, let alone RECENT world history. You can only have peace with people who want peace, and freedom comes with a price.

Your comments are seditious, and the only reason you can make comments like this is due to the privileged freedom you have due to those who have fought for same. You think peace is free? How come I don%u2019t see anyone protesting the monsters who cut peoples heads off, bomb schools, place bombs on mentally challenged children, PURPOSEFULLY target woman and children, etc., etc., etc. Whose side are you on? You must be one of the protestors, who are being paid by various special interest groups to protest while our VOLUNTARY armed forces are fighting battles for you; or perhaps you are a terrorists or terrorist supporter infiltrating this and other blogs and/or a combination thereof. Whose the real traitor? - Reply to this comment
- Putin and the left are excited about seizing parts of Georgia. Georgia is the home of the one of the left''s great heroes, Joseph Stalin. Lefties it is time to dust off those old pictures of Uncle Joe.

- Hey rwkincaide:
Are you kidding me? Where did you get those bogus numnbers from? Notwithstanding, remeber the guy who was running the country before? Sadam. He was a mass murderor who torchered and killed masses, not to mention his raping and murdering sons who inflicted their rampage on numerous innocent civilians. I have many friends who have served in Iraq, as many qare reenlisting, as theu know we are not over there indiscriminately and purposfully targeting civilions with bombs and beheadings. Not to mention the fact that the only purpose we now, and have been, serving is the reconstruction of Iraq and building of it''s militray. I love folks like you. You say on one hand you support the troops but not the action -- hypocrits.
On another point, if Reagen listened to rhetoric like yours during his presidency, you would still have a divided Germany. Wake up weaklings. Appeasement will only buy you time for something your children or grandchildren will have to deal with. I guess that''s one of the differences between the liberal ideology and that of conservatives, as liberals aren''t too concerned with tomorrow. - Reply to this comment
- More reason Cheney, Rove and Bush among others should be tried for war crimes and hung. But then the republican party is noted for placing embargo''s on countries and dealing with them with special interest in secret. The bad part is they get away with it. This could be a ploy to monopolize control. I''m sure Russia wouldn''t mind so long as there was something in it for them. Watch for the embargo.

- Would this be the same UN you all said was irrelevant?!

- Iraq''s occupation by US and Coalition forces is sanctioned by the UN. Russia''s invasion of Georgia is not sanctioned by the UN. Therefore it is Russia that is acting as Hitler, to forcefully take over a sovereign nation for its own purposes.
All that can happen is for other super powers to follow Russia''s lead, in which case Cuba will be the first country to be annexed as a US territory. Though Unlikely, this is a similar scenario as Russia invading Georgia. - Reply to this comment
- To Rational_1, From what iv seen on the news Putin seems to be a jolly good laugh at us right now! You all slag off France & the EU for talking to the Russians at a diplomatic level but what the hell have you done? Given a load off hypocritical tubthumping from your politicians while their press spokepersons stress how your looking for a peaceful solution.
Who''s worst? Someone who puts themselves in the fire knowing that their military strength is inferior to the situation or a politician off the worlds police force who talks big purely for his future replacements sake!
Us Brits don''t normally side with the French but in this regard they''ve shown a *** sight more integrity & honesty than your reps! - Reply to this comment
- Ya, I''m going to feel so safe knowing President Obama will be able to deal with guys like Putin, Kim Jong Ill and the Islamocrazies. I''d like to laugh at the thought, but it truly scares the he!! out of me. I wonder if Obama was really born in France - seems like a natural capitulator, based on his mealy-mouthed response to the Russian invasion of Georgia. Putin will push him around like a schoolyard bully.

- People should also consider this, civilian massacres have been committed by both sides off this fracas. There is now seriously bad blood between the S Ossetians & the Georgians, in the unlikely event that Russia should withdraw & the west take over that would leave us policing a region off massive instability. Any massacres from either side would be occurring on our watch & rightfully blamed on us. This would also give Russia one hell off a propaganda coup and lose the west even more international credibility!
Right or wrong this is more about damage limitation & if the people of the breakaway regions are willing to war over the issue then it''s probably best for all involved if we let them have their wish & simply concentrate on preserving whats left off Georgia. - Reply to this comment
- Don''t underestimate Russian military power. They have a plane which can fly invisible. They have (or will soon) artillery which fires far further than any previous (thanks to a special platform). They have hover-capable fighter jets, new grenades, and new tanks.
The best tanks in the world, and necessary agricultural resources are in Ukraine. Ukraine is a must-have for Russia. Their world-domination plans MUST include Ukraine.
What rookie is saying on this thread Russia is nothing?
Putin is the new Hitler. - Reply to this comment
- If Russia was so afraid off the US military they wouldn''t have mobilised in the first place! As for Iraq & Afghanistan, while we may have got of to a good start our forces seem to be bogged down in constant guerilla warfare & terrorist attacks(which several military & intelligence officials predicted but some people just wont listen)!
