What I meant was the pay raises and bonueses they offered us were ok.. it was the added expenses and increased costs of health care and dental care that were unacceptable and pretty much wiped away the majority of those raises they offered.

Also the company has snuck in contract language in regard to job security, amng other issues that are not being discussed in the media.

There is no reason to outsource our jobs.. that will only further destroy america. Not to mention Boeing union workers are highly trained and skilled in aircraft manufactruing.. It would take Boeing 10''s of Billions and years to re-train any workforce to be anywheres close to what the union skill is now. Look at what outsourcing has done for the 787.. it is failing miserably to the point Boeing had to buy several companies to bail themselves out. That money could have been better served keepin gthe work in house and using IAM union labor.. That is fact !!!

All Beoing has to do is not take away anything on our healthcare and give us some job security languange, and keep the wage increase they have already offered.

If anyone wants this economy to get better then all the corps have ot get more money into the workers hands, otherwise the additonal health care costs and cost of living and inflation will continue to keep this economy down.

THE ONLY WAY THE ECONOMY GETS BETTER IS TO INCREASE THE AMOUNT OF MONEY ALL THE WORKERS IN THIS COUNTRY HAVE TO SPEND... IT IS THE ONLY WAY.

thank you for those that support us.

This strike in not about money in the form of wage increases or bonuses. It is about contract language the comapnay is puttng into the contract, in which none of this is being discussed in the media, and ita about the additional cost of health care and dental that offset any wage increase Boeing has offered us.

The union has had only 1 pay raise since 2002, and that came in 2004 and was about 3%. So in 6 years they have had one increase. Boeing has also added healthcare expenses to employees in both contract of 2002 and 2005. Now here we are in 2008 with the company having record profits and they want to take more health care and dental away from us.

What do employees have to see fro a coproration before they see no takeaways. When a corporation is enjoying record breaking times wouldn''t that be enough reason not to take away anything from the employees. Why does Boeing with their record profits still insist on taking away ????

I''m disgusted with corproate America, and I think Boeing and Wallstreet are doing this country a huge disservice trying to kep more for themsleves instead of rewarding the employees when their profits are the best ever in their history.

Again why would a corporation want to take away more from employees when they are breaking every record they have in sales and profits.. when does this insanity stop in America !!!

I SUPPORT THE UNION!

Boeing has had years of record profit and has about 7 years worth of orders currently. Meanwhile, costs for living, health care, energy, etc. are rising for the people who actually put those planes and parts together: the workers.

I don''t think many machinists will be in danger of losing their homes due to defaulting on a mortgage payment; the market is already glutted with millions of homes and banks are not eager to foreclose on any more.

Go machinists! Stand up to the union-busting tactics of corporate management.

Go protest outside executives'' homes!

Try protesting outside the Mercer Island Tennis Club!

What they failed to mention in this article is that Boeing wants these strikes so it can force the renegotiaions of the prices since orders were made years ago.

The sad part is that Boeing/McDonald Douglas is probably one of the last true manufacturing jobs that paid decent wages.

Ever since George Bush declared back in 2001 that Mickey D''s can now be considered "manufacturing", Our economy has been steadily transformed into a "service economy" or "post-industrial 3rd world" economy.

Thanks Republicans, there''s so much we owe you for.

It''s more the union execs than the actual workers, the latter who trying to get a fair wage for hard work but, as always, seen more as an expense than somebody keeping the company going.

I just would like to be fair but in this case I see that the machinist deserves far better than what they are getting. Compare it to the engineers and management..... This people are the back bone of the company. You can fire an Engineer and still make the profit. But try firing the machinist and you''ll end up loosing 25 percent to 50 percent of your profit. Management should negotiate and union should be reasonable. Reasonable enough to understand that they are blessed to have a job at this time of the year. Both parties should settle this on the table for the sake of the country. Otherwise, you are all on your own. Meaning, no winners...only loosers.
