President Plans To Cancel Once-Celebrated Nuclear Deal Between Nations
- The truth is, this is all about control of oil & gas pipelines. The BTC oil pipeline in South Ossetia & the Nabucco natural gas pipeline in NW Georgia supply markets in the European Union. In November 2003 the World Bank funded the BTC pipeline to circumvent Russian pipelines supplying europe.
Shareholders in the BTC pipeline are: British Petroleum, AzBTC, Chevron, Statoil, TPAO, ENI, Total, Itochu, INPEX, ConocoPhillips & Amerada Hess.
Russia is the second largest supplier of oil & gas on the planet.
After loosing Iraqi oil to Operation Iraqi Freedom, they negotiated supplies with Iran. The Russians were not happy with Cheneys BTC pipeline or the Caspian Sea Pipelines project going through Afghanistan. This threatens their economy based on oil & gas.
Again it s the Bush administrations lust for money in World markets for their BIG OIL buddies - Reply to this comment
- Its amazing how much of this deal Bush is threatening Russia with has to do with nuclear energy. Clearly, because nuclear has a FUEL (just like oil), power geopolitics can be used to gain leverage over other countries and regions of the world.
A 100 mile by 100 mile array of solar thermal collectors, located in Arizona or Nevada, absorbs enough energy to power the entire United States: no other power source required. Solar thermal collectors are 19th century technologies, involving mirrors and pipes with molten salt running through them (connected to steam turbines). A competent plumber could build a solar thermal collector in his/her backyard.
The problem with solar technologies? THERE''s NO FUEL!! Therefore, no ability to control fuel, create shortages, and basically enslave peoples by creating ''scarcities'' in the fuel. And THAT''s why the powers that be Don''t like renewable energy sources. NOT because they are expensive (they AREN''T expensive, if you build them durably enough), but because there''s no ''fuel'' market that can be cornered and monopolized. - Reply to this comment
- I wish somebody could force the candidates to have a debate every week so that we could get their take on how they''d handle the sort of stuff that comes up like this. Like there''s always something in the news, or happening locally - how good are they at thinking on their feet?
So far all we''ve had is Saddleback, and McCain cheated and Barack wasn''t good :( - Reply to this comment

You ever notice that politicians are a lot like evangelists? They both prey on the weak and simple minded.

When in fact Georgia did the invading, Bush must be surely attempting to hoodwink those Americans who are gullible enough to believe anything this failure says.
There is nobody outside of America, who would believe this rhetoric by Bush, is anything else, but an attempt to use fear, as a weapon, in order to influence those war mongering republicans, in the hope he may overcome any who may consider not voting for McCain.- Reply to this comment

Could someone please explain to me exactly how this action punishes Russia without punching a hole in our own canoe? - Reply to this comment
- This president is an idiot, pure and simple.
In a child, ranting and raving, and constantly threatening to, get back at you, is childish but expected. However, in a man, it''s bizarre, and suggestive of deeper emotional or mental disorders!
Bush conducts himself as president on the basis he understands, that of a threatening child! And don''t think Putin and the rest of the worlds'' leaders don''t understand that, they do!
It just remains to be seen if HE (Bush) is responsible for initiating Armageddon or whether he just sets the world up for it---with McCain and Palin applying the finishing touches! We''ll see. - Reply to this comment
- Kohin...
You must still suffer from the Stockholm Syndrome leftover from the Clinton administration. 9/11 was an utmost disgrace, however as an American, which I frankly do not believe that you are, Government is just that. To govern. I encourage you to read up on American History and American Government! - Reply to this comment

- My oh my! The hatred is abundant in this group! I truly hope that you realize that politics is an everyday aspect of life. One person cannot possibly head our country in the right or wrong direction. It takes the majority as a whole to do that. Why don''t you take the time to look at your Congress, state, county and local politicians... Do you honestly think that one candidate actually holds sway over another? Have any of you actually studied American History? Get rid of the hate and start realizing that there are more issues at stake than posting your pathetic comments!

- How can W sit there knowing he has 30,000 nukes and not shoot a few off before he leaves the White House (assuming he does leave).
that''s like having $50,000 worth of fireworks at the 4th of July BBQ picnic in Crawdaddy and not lighting any.
