Moscow: Supporting Saakashvili "Mistake Of Historic Proportion"; Claims That Arms Came In With U.S. Aid
- So where are the big sanctions on Russia, the big threats of ''punishment''?? Why has the world not massively rounded on Russia after such a huge US diplomatic effort to persuade them to do so? Could it be that, whilst not wanting to upset their big trade pal Bush, they also dont want to upset their big trade and resource pal Putin. That plus they all admit privately that Georgie caused the problem anyway. Nice try Bush, but - per your record to date - you failed again.

When will you guys get it? This particular spat is NOT about the tiny supply pipelines around Georgia. This particular spat is to keep Russia out of the EU, thereby delaying an EU-Russia superpower status greater than that of the US, thereby affecting ALL the pipelines.
Figure it out P-L-E-E-Z-E. - Reply to this comment

- clovisbuford I agree with you, Russia is trying to rebuild SOVIET UNION. I have been waiting for this ever since the west said that communism was finished..
Gorbachev said many years ago, "Communism has not finished as some in the west have said, all we have done is change our tactics".
We have to remember that the media will make this out to be way worse than it really is as they also need the money and no one reads good news media..
With so about 4 years now of cooler weather world wide, people are waking up to the myth of Global warming which will cost the tax payers trillions and who will gain from this, no other than the media and companies who make the products to counteract the non existent problem. Any one who has been to school and listened to their teachers, were taught that CO2''s are a fertilizer to plants not a danger.. - Reply to this comment

- you know... as i sit here and read the comment''s that have been posted here. i see alot of pple thinking that the us can not handle the russian''s. and i want them to keep thinking that. that way when we do go to war and hand russia there *** back to them on a silver plater, it will be that much the better.
japan thought the same thing in ww2 every war we have been in but one the us has won... you may do well in remembering that.
as for russia and it''s threat... i''m not worried here wait let me get my gun mister Lavrov and then you can tell me all about my mistake! because i''ll wipe your *** if i had the chance.
the us isn''t afraid we will do what ever the hell we want too! (smiles) but would love to have you try and stop us. - Reply to this comment
- I don''t know to much about the real reason on that region, but I know this: If Russia would be the size of England or France, The United States, would have warships, and probably would be involved already on that conflict....but the truth is when it come comes to China or Russia, Our politicians here in the USA, just talk and talk like a dog in other side the fence
Also the Europeans, are like a bunch of hyenas, they never attack on day time neither face to face, they always do it on groups...
I just have one question: why CNN,CBS, NBC, BBC, don conduct a public interview with the politicians involved on these matters.... but please don''t as those stupid questions to the reporters, most of the time they don''t know what is really taking place and the root of the problem - Reply to this comment
- Hey totally clueless NDJAM and Thomas Kerr. Why don''t you two get off your knees and come out from under the table and see the light. You might want to return all the blood money that you are receiving from the Russians. The current Georgian and Ukrainian governments was freely elected by it''s people and Putin tried to scare the voters with his normal military and commercial threats. The threats back fired and democracies were born. Notice that the Chinese are not even supporting the Russians on this latest screw up. The Russians have their own version of democracy and it isn''t the freedom that you enjoy here. Did you notice how many political parties ran against Putin? None! All of them were arrested. Russia wants to be part of the league of nations, but only on their terms just like Hitler did. I recommend that you two do some research and read up on the non-nuclear defensive missiles that are going to Poland. We need to stay the course, support all freedom loving countries, and stand up to Russia. Where would we be now if Churchill didn%u2019t stand his ground to Hitler in WW2?

You are the stupid one who knows nothing about what the U.S has done to Russia. You know nothing about South Ossetia and Abkhazia. You know nothing about how the U.S used Georgia to test Russia. All you know is what you read and hear by the U.S media. - Reply to this comment

Actually, Kuei is how you spell Kuei genius. Anyone with the least bit of sense might have googled it prior to making a national imbecile of one''s self, let alone come here and try and talk politics.
And also, 12 is the first whole number following 11. - Reply to this comment
- [Lets be real here. Georgia attacked in Ossetia. America has also been aggravating this by hedging the Russians in with ballistic missiles in Poland and the Ukraine. How would we react if they put missiles in Cuba, Mexico and jamaica? We''''''''re FREAK OUT."]
[Umm ... They did try to put missles in Cuba in the early 1960s - the Cuban Missile Crisis. We did freak out. It nearly started a nuclear war. So now we put missles just off their borders.... What did anyone expect?]
Little difference in stationing dozens of offensive NUCLEAR missles. And stationing "10" Defensive ABM missiles. Also I am sure if Russia wants to station 10 ABM missiles in Cuba it would be ok. Oh and don''t forget Russia will most likely be reopening their Bomber base in Cuba that they closed down a few years back for lack of funds. You don''t hear the U.S. screaming about it do you....... - Reply to this comment

- Russia is completely right on this. The U.S humiliated Russia for over a decade by taking all of Europe and forming NATO. This NATO was formed to humiliate Russia. Instead of making a great alliance with Moscow, The U.S was going against them. The U.S instead is alligned with rogue, disgusting nations such as Saudia Arabia, Egypt, Pakistan,China, India. All these nations are depressive, repressive regimes. Here we go talking about democracy but yet most of our allies are dictatorial regimes. Not only that, but these so called allies spread hatred against the U.S and Christians and Jews. The U.S deserves to be NUKED NOW..

- Its Russia who"s actually making a historic mistake. Russia is trying to rebuild SOVIET UNION but the west wont allow it. Georgia is a sovereign states and can buy arms whenever they want.
Posted by BagdadsHere4 at 06:37 PM : Sep 01, 2008 err the mistake was in the USA ever allowing the tail to wag the dog . the invasion ofossetia was a massive miscalculation by georgia . the us giving any perception of us supporting that was a mistake ... its like the USSR encouraging Mexico to invade tx , its former province ..those days have marched ..and the flat out truth is the US has nothing to back up any threats to the USSR .. waht we are gonna pull troops from Iraq and break bad? affghanistan? we would let russia do the same thing from cuba? in our sphere of influence? .. someone should go back to their talk radio crack , cause it dont fly in the real world - Reply to this comment
- Sorry BagdadsHere4. It is Russia that a making all the correct moves here. They are doing exactly what it takes to shut down the lunatic bush. They are putting an end to the self proclaimed "war president". The american war machine has picked on every little clay hut country it can find and now Russia is stepping in to say "put up or shut up"! For 7 years bush has run completely out of control and Russia is doing what the american people could not do. He is putting a leash on that Texas dumb a$$.
No more bullying little coutries around bush! Now you are in the big leagues. Time to see what you are really made of. Of course we already know. Lost in Afghanistan. Lost in Iraq. Lost the respect of your own people (if you ever had any). You are a disgrace to every american bush! The whole world is tired of your stupid $hit bush.
The american people want to be able to hold their heads up high and they can''t do it with bush in office.
Kudos to the Russian government. - Reply to this comment

- The United States will lose a lot more if it becomes too involved with the likes of Saakashvili. Russia is just a hair%u2019s length away from supplying Iran with surface-to-air missiles, which will impede any U.S. or Israeli attempt to bomb Iranian nuclear sites. For the United States it is a %u201Close-lose%u201D situation if they go beyond mere denunciation of the Russian move.

- The United States has reacted harshly to the latest Russian invasion of Georgia with every U.S. spokesperson denouncing the Russian move. On merit, they are right; Russians should stay out of any place that is not theirs. But the latest conflict is not of Russian creation; they merely marched in after a provocation. The United States has done the same before in Panama, Haiti, Grenada, Bosnia, Kosovo and Iraq;

- The Russian economy, which suffered a 40 percent drop in GNP from 1989 to 1996, has all but recovered. It has been growing at a rate of 7 percent for the past 10 years. Not only that, but Russia is self-contained, has its own oil wealth, metal and mineral resources, and in the last few years has managed to grow most of its own food, barring a few items. Thus, unlike the West, Russia does not need alliances or outside resources to survive and grow.
