- indepedence for US ''''pals'''' in the Caucuses, Balkans etc. Unlike the US, they can and will follow through with what they say. If you survive, good luck with speaking Russian.

You know I have no idea whatsoever why you would want to live under Russian domination.
Good luck with that free speech thing. - Reply to this comment
- I have met many american travellers who have pretended to be Canadian, simply because it helps them avoid the increasing hatred towards the US. How sad is that?

Hmmm. I haven''t encountered that problem. I''ve been to various countries since 9/11 (I was in Asia during 9/11) and never felt the need to disguise my nationality. I have, however, experienced disdain for Bush and his administration. What was even more confounding to many of my international associates is how Bush was able to pull off being elected for a second term.
IMHO we squandered our good standing in the world when we needlessly attacked Iraq. But that''s what you get when you have a president being led around by the nose by his neocon cronies.
To Bush''s credit though, even though it''s far too little and too late, his administration is dotted with a lot less of that evil ilk. - Reply to this comment
- You are sadly mistaken if you believe Russia needs any provocation, real or perceived, to continue on their path to their past glory of domination and subjegation of former Soviet states.

With that attitude you are sadly headed for oblivion. Russia is warning the ''west'' not to sustain the provocation of NATO expansion to its borders, missile bases on its doorstep, indepedence for US ''pals'' in the Caucuses, Balkans etc. Unlike the US, they can and will follow through with what they say. If you survive, good luck with speaking Russian. - Reply to this comment
- Here''s an idea for McClone--how about getting some Muslim fundamentalists to attack Russia! We could give them Stinger missiles and--but wait--they''d use those Stinger missiles against us.
Isn''t that what they did when Reagan gave the Muslin fundamentalist terrorists Stingers?
Bad idea. McClone will have to come up with another idea to provoke a confrontation with the Russians. Then we can have war on 3 fronts.
And how about invading Cuba and Venezuela while we''re at it, McClone? - Reply to this comment

Over the last few years (but not before then) I have met many american travellers who have pretended to be Canadian, simply because it helps them avoid the increasing hatred towards the US. How sad is that?

- Riddle me this Batman. If you''re American (which is highly suspect) what would your ideal candidate do to deal with this dilemma?

- I guess you haven''t heard that Russia retracted its claim that thousands died. It was just propaganda. I think they are saying it was a hundred or so. I''m guessing the Russians killed more in their invasion afterward.

Let me guess, you supported the Iraq war because your leaders and press told you that there was a good reason to? Russias response was considerably less destructive than americas response to 9-11. If you check out some international media blogs you will find the vast majority of world opinion supports the Russian position. - Reply to this comment
- How come the west did not warn Georgia, when they bombed South Ossetia on August 7th killing roughly the same number of civillians as those who died from 9-11 ?

How come no western leaders uttered a single word of criticism? How come Russias response, which was positively tame compared to americas response to 9-11, has been so ravaged by Bush and his EU puppets? You need to think why this is all happening, and it has nothing to do with ''Russian aggression'' and everything to do with ''Russian provocation''.

- The US was forced to use the port at Batumi??? How humiliating!
That''''s only about 35 miles south of Poti, but it''''s small and it''''s the southernmost port in Georgia!

Yep, that''s because the US don''t want an exchange with anyone who can fight back, hence their prolonged occupations in Iraq and Afghanistan, and even there they are gradually losing. - Reply to this comment
- CG Cutters have operating characteristics that serve well in some situations. If I recall correctly they were used in Vietnam years ago. It is not unusual for the Coast Guard to be overseas.

Then reassign them to the Navy and repaint them. The name US Coast Guard implies they exist to guard the US coast. - Reply to this comment

That''s only about 35 miles south of Poti, but it''s small and it''s the southernmost port in Georgia! Actually, it''s in another autonomous region of Georgia, Adjara. But don''t let those Adjarans get any ideas from the Abkhazians or South Ossetians... Ha! - Reply to this comment
- What another k-rap headline. ''The West'' is the US, its puppet the UK, and Bush''s pal the French Sucker-Cosy. Russia hold the high ground, ''the west'' are just a US-led discredited pack of hypocritical current leaders who are THANK GOD shortly to be unseated. Good riddance too, and Russia are right to stick the finger up at them.

All lip service and Russia knows it.
Eurpoe won''t jack with those who supply the oil and the US is just a paper tiger with two unwinnable wars going on.
