Medvedev Recognizes Georgian Breakaway Provinces; U.S. Slams Move As "Irresponsible"

"Mr. Bush warned Russia to change course and respect the borders of its Georgian neighbor."

Herein lies the problem, someone who lied to get authorization to violate the borders of Iraq, now wants to tell Russia to respect borders.

Bush was warned by military and political strategists that he risked American credibility and goodwill with his agenda, but the corruption from war profiteering was too lucrative for him to resist.

Now he has no moral, legal, or even military authority to tell Russia, or for that matter anyone else, anything.

Isn''t this whole "We condemn Russia for recognizing Ahbakazia & South Ossetia" extremely hypocritical of the Kosovo situation?

Now, it looks like the cycle is about to repeat itself. This time, we are almost broke and Russia is flush with oil money.

Are you kidding me? America has twice the population. Ten times the GNP. Ten times the economy. More allies (Europe, Japan, Canada, Australia, South Korea, and Israel as opposed to China, Iran, Venezuela, and Cuba for Russia). The largest defense budget in the world (half a trillion a year, which is hundreds of billions ahead of anyone).

Even if Russia is flowing with money, she is so far behind to America''s strength militarily (and don''t use the ''we are tied down in Iraq and Afghanistan argument), economically, and diplomatically. Russia will never be able to put half a trillion dollars a year into the defense budget, so America has nothing to worry about.

I can''t believe how some people just sit and blame Bush and Cheney for everything but they don''t put any blame on Russia at all. It makes me sick... that is the kind of unpatriotic behavior that not even most independents or liberals would have, but some wackos do it anyways. These wackos:

1. neglect the fact that the two breakaway regions were internationally recognized, even by Russia, as being part of Georgia.
2. neglect the fact that democratic Georgia is a great American ally and Russia is and has always been menace to the West.
3. neglect the fact that Russia not only invaded the breakaway regions, but also the main part of Georgia.
4. neglect the fact that Russia was still bombing and blockading AFTER the truce.
5. neglect the fact that the "liberal" countries of France, Germany, and the UK are even condemning Russia''s actions.
6. give a blank check to the Russian leaders to do whatever the he11 they want.
7. accuse our leaders and create division, saying we should neglect our ally and let a bully trample them.
8. reject Russia''s historically evident game of intimidation and invasion.
9. let the Russians determine our defense policy by whining about the MDS, which in all sense, could do very little to stop a Russian attack.
10. believe Putin to be a good man, yet think Bush is a Nazi.

I am old enough to remember the Cold War. I even served during that time. For every $1.00, the USSR spent on defense, we would spend $2.00; they would match us and we would then increase 2X our spending. The actual winners were the large defense contractors. The theory was that no one would ever attack the other party because of the consequences involved. They were too terrible to behold.

Now, it looks like the cycle is about to repeat itself. This time, we are almost broke and Russia is flush with oil money.

tbweb: Have you ever heard of an ellipsis? Granted, those usually use three periods rather than 4, but I''m willing to grant a bit of leeway.

I use ellipsis all the time and I`m willing to grant a bit of leeway too but not when I`m being corrected! Besides how many bloggers use proper grammar? Few!

(AP) Russian President Dmitry Medvedev is warning that his country may respond to a U.S. missile shield in Europe through military means.

Medvedev says the deployment of an anti-missile system close to Russian borders "will of course create additional tensions."

"We will have to react somehow, to react, of course, in a military way," Medvedev was quoted as saying Tuesday by the RIA-Novosti news agency.

The Priests Of God are ready when the time is right. Neither the Bear nor the Eagle are in any position to start more wars, but then, the humans that lead these nations are very, very foolish.

Meanwhile, while you p*ckerwoods are arguing the finer points of English grammar, Russia is in the process of annexing its own "Sudentenland" and threatening American allies with nuclear weapons. Get your heads out of your -holes and pay attention. If you don''t know the importance of the word "Sudentenland," copy and paste it into either Google or Wikipedia. Check out the time period around 1938.
