Moscow Warns That Response To Missile Defense Pact With Poland Will Go Beyond Diplomacy
- The only Russian who received a Pension from the Soviet era was former Russian President Boris Yeltsin, all other Russians were forgotten!

No, no. That''s not exactly true. People here always recieved pensions but the pensions were very low, and I agree the state of Russia should have made many more for the old people than it really have. But that''s very old story, we have been made speachless for so long... We russians have lost much of our culture and personal (not communist) pride during Soviet decades, and now are returning it painfully but steadily. Russia should be let to recover morally. - Reply to this comment
- leftyintexas, people like you pose more of a threat to America than the missille defense system.

- Thanks to DUMBYA and friends, the Russians have us where they want us. DUMBYA, in all his arrogance, thought he could bushite his way into planting missles on Russia''s doorstep by telling the Russians that the missles were actually to protect Europe from being attacked by the Iranians. Yeah right! Only someone believes Iraq had WMD''s or was involved in the 9-11 attacks would believe that lie too. The Russians are not stupid, they rightfully see this as a threat to their security and acted in their own self interests. Now the question is , what''s DUMBYA going to do now? The next ones to pay for his blunder will be the Polish people. They really got sucked into this scam in a very big way. Too bad...

- When Russia put INTERCONTINENTAL NUCLEAR WARHEADS in Cuba it was a direct threat to the US at the height of the cold war. MIssille defense systems are not first strike weapons they are designed to STOP them, they are not nuclear weapons. Try to comprehend the differance.

- What if Russia put missles in cuba?

This is not the 1960`s, Russia, China and the U.S. don`t need to deploy nuclear weapons on land at all, modern technology can base state-of-the-art nuclear weapons on ships and subs and be just as effective! Basing nukes close to an adversary on land is a statement making maneuver rooted more in symbolism than practical application in the modern era. This why Russia`s opposition to a missile defense system they can easily defeat makes no sense, Russia knows full well MDS is for the little guys! - Reply to this comment
- Define (defense)this word covers alot of territory and russia is included in that territory. As far as russia putting missiles in cuba , they are afraid cuba might take them away and sell them for cell phone service.

- If the yahoo section of the American population puts McSame in then we will be only serving our corrupted military-industrial-corporate complex(an enemy already within our gates) and setting America up for a drubbing by the Russkies and their Iranian and Chinese cohorts. Bush and his republical-fascist lackeys have weakened us to the point of not being able to maneuver except into a blustering retreat or another crippling and perhaps truly disastrous war....borne by the People of America and not our corrupt oligarchy. McCain will worsen an already weakened geo-political situation for our Nation.

Oh spare us please after 7.5 years of Bush/Cheney threating everything under the sun.
And Rice spouting her nonsense, so you''''re okay with Russian putting in a missle defense as well in Mexico right tweb?
"It''''s also the case that when you threaten Poland, you perhaps forget that it is not 1988," Rice said. "It''''s 2008 and the United States has a ... firm treaty guarantee to defend Poland''''s territory as if it was the territory of the United States. So it''''s probably not wise to throw these threats around."

The point I was attempting to make was Russia/Soviets bit off more than they could chew in the past and `collapsed` and may very well collapse again! If Russia wants to impress me Russia should pay Pensions to all those Russians who worked for 25 to 30 years under the Soviet Union and never received their Retirement Pensions! Russia used the collapse of the Soviet Union as an excuse not to honor Retirement Pensions! The only Russian who received a Pension from the Soviet era was former Russian President Boris Yeltsin, all other Russians were forgotten! What`s up with that? - Reply to this comment
- The invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq have stretched perilously thin Americas military strength and international credibility, at a time when oil-rich Russia is re-emerging as a superpower. The US can do nothing and Russia knows it. It is payback time for Putin and Bush fully deserves this humiliation.

You really think the US is going to risk a major nuclear exchange with the Russians over Poland?
Really? The Poles are sacrificial lambs. If the Russians move against, they will be left to twist in the wind.
Isn''t that what the Republican administration of Bush the Elder did with the Kurds and the Shia after the Kuwait war?

I would totally agree with your assessment of the last 8 years, but am afraid obama is a bigger threat than McCain. Again we are in a position of choosing from the lesser evil. - Reply to this comment

We are the ones who started saying we were going to build missile sites along Russian borders. They are responding in kind. Now if we build in poland Russia may well respond as they know financially we are too weak to put up much of a defense. - Reply to this comment

Brilliantly said, and many around the world hope so too. We also hope that the recent polls (showing half the US wants more of the last 8 years) are wrong, for all our sakes. - Reply to this comment
- We had reached a time where we were on fairly good terms with the Russians and now bush has blown that again.

Why do you think Russia is threatening to put missiles in Cuba? How would you like an aggressive nation placing missiles along your borders ? It is a natural response from Russia and they have the economy to back up their threats now. - Reply to this comment
