Statement of fact: You put missiles in Poland next door to us, the nation of Poland will become the Polish provence of Russia. Then Russia will put missile batteries in Cuba and then they will say "stop threatening us" when you protest. Hahahahaha

And that`s exactly the point and the problem! Russia copies everything the U.S. does! The Russian leader use to be called a Premier but I guess that didn`t sound important enough so they changed it to President like the U.S., the U.S. invaded Iraq so Georgia became Russia`s Iraq, the U.S. has strong support for Israel in the Middle East so the Russians counter with strong support for Iran in the Middle East, the Russians now want a fleet of Aircraft Carriers after calling them big sitting ducks but the U.S. has them so Russia wants big sitting ducks too! The U.S. felt powerful from Russia backing down during the Cuban Missile Crisis so Russia wants to feel powerful from the U.S. backing down over Polish MDS! Instead of antagonizing them, why not scrap this idea and start over with a new plan that works with them? Why not use the site in Azerbaijan that was offered by Russia to use in the missile defense system?

Soviet period was really a bad one, and the beginning of 90s too, with killings (more of money than politics) of businessmen and journalists (but 200 is really an exaggeration in the case of the latter!). But now the situation is nearly as in your own country - no one is a saint now, and the power of big PRIVATE money is increasing.

CNN aired a Special Report recently and aired the report Worldwide, the 200 plus murdered Russian Reporters and Journalist is not an exaggeration! In fact the number is closer to 300 murdered Journalist and Reporters inside Russia according to Reporters in the business who live and work inside Russia. You obviously did not see the CNN broadcast, it`s not a secret Russian Reporters are being silenced one way or the other, up to and including death! Famous Russian Reporter Anna Politkovskaya was among those killed, many think V. Putin had her bumped off. This is not old Soviet era news, this is going on right now in the new Russia!

Russia could easily pummel the American military base in Poland with long, medium, and short range missiles. The United States would answer with a missile strike at Russian targets. The Russians are capable of firing missiles with thermo-nuclear warheads to American cities. New York, Miami, Seattle, and San Diego will be incinerated. The United States Army can not shoot down every incoming Russian missile. The weapons fly fast, high, and use satellite guidance that cannot be jammed.

No, no. That''''s not exactly true. People here always recieved pensions but the pensions were very low, and I agree the state of Russia should have made many more for the old people than it really have. But that''''s very old story, we have been made speachless for so long... We russians have lost much of our culture and personal (not communist) pride during Soviet decades, and now are returning it painfully but steadily. Russia should be let to recover morally.

I personally know Russians who worked for over 25 years for the Soviet Union and received nothing, no pensions, zip, zero!, maybe the Russians you know were relatives of Yeltsins, special insiders! It`s also common knowledge that many Russian Reporters and Journalist were killed, as many as 200 or more as reported by a special CNN investigation conducted inside Russia, the Russian `Press` has been killed off, intimidated and silenced!
