AVSuvorov said, "Regarding the issue of "democracy", I would say it does not exist in the U.S.A. because the citizenry is too uninformed and too easily manipulated. A more accurate description of the form of government here is a "corporatocracy" - "a government of the corporations, by the corporations and for the corporations" (irrespective of which party is in power)."
---
Uncomfortably close to the truth. Look at two, supposedly separate, ideological groups-- the patrons of McBush, and the patrons of the old Clinton machine. Most Americans would be hard pressed to distill an ounce of ideological difference between the two patron camps.

In fact, Ms. Clinton, when financially pressed, even appealed to billionaire, right-wing publisher Richard Mellon Scaife. Yes, the same Scaife who funded the continuing series of "investigations" into the Clinton machine during the Clinton years!

The core of the problem is the American congress claims it must run after the corporate dollar in order to feed its perpetual-motion campaign effort. As Sen. Richard Russell famously observed, the first two years, a senator is a statesman, the second, a politician, the third, a demagogue.

We need federal funding of elections-- the only way for all voices to be heard, the only way to escape the engulfing corruption of "the best congress money can buy".

Well of course the missile defense plan is aimed at Russia! Anyone with a complete geographical knowledge of Europe will know that. Since Poland is between Russia & Europe it is, therefore, aimed at Russia. If we wanted the MDS aimed at Iran we should have put the radar station in Greece in the interceptor missiles in Turkey.

All you people from foreign countries who bash the USA easily forget who was there for you when your little countries faced challenges from other nations wanting to enslave you. The American people are not cowards nor afraid of danger or confrontation. We try to reserve our fights for just causes.

Hey OneAmerica, you%u2019ve been gone for awhile, the cold war and the Soviet Union are long gone. We already have genocide and World War started by our vassal Georgian Saakashvil, who is the modern day version of that famous Georgian Ioseb Jughashvili, aka Joseph Satlin. Russia is getting stronger every day.The Russian people are hard working, very intelligent and highly educated people. The country has no, zero, national or foreign debt, and the economy is growing so fast that they don%u2019t have enough people to fill all the jobs. They are not going away.

Georgia is a member of the United Nations, and South Ossetia and Abkhazia are, in fact, part of the internationally recognized borders of Georgia.

Russia has no right to invade Georgia and claim South Ossetia and Abkhazia for their own - this overt campaign to conquer and absorb a neighboring free country and democracy is paralleled in scope and nature only by Hitler''s 1939 invasion of Poland, the Soviet Union''s 1968 invasion of Czechoslovakia, and Saddam Hussein''s 1990 invasion of Kuwait.

It appears that Russia''s intention - despite signing a truce to stop it''s campaign against Georgia and to leave immediately - is to continue to occupy the country until it can overthrow the Georgian government and replace it with an neo-Soviet Communist regime.

There is no doubt that until Russia''s military is driven out of Georgia, they will continue with the occupation - and will likely repeat the same aggression against other border nations, including Poland, Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Estonia, and probably several others.

If Russia is not knocked back on its heels right now, then genocide and World War are sure to follow.

The difference between Bush and McCain: Bush said of Putin..."I looked into his eyes and saw an honest person with integrity".....McCain said..."I looked into his eyes and saw a K, a G, and a B"....

If you think about it from Russia''s point of view, is this not the equivalent of Russia putting missles in Mexico? They should try it, cheaper labor for construction. Then, maybe they will go back to Mexico for the work. Missle Silo workers wanted, Se Habla Espanol!

ainttaken says get it over with now, "No one will be expecting it". Thats what George Bush and Condoleezza Rice and their surrogates thought when they attacked Ossetia. Dream on simple minds.

obamanation6 ask why would Poland do this now. When the President of Poland first committed troops to invade Iraq, Poland was promised a slice of the action when they took over Iraqi oil. At the time he admited that what they were doing was imoral, but that Poland needed the money. The people of Poland eventualy insisted that Polish troops be withdrawn. This latest deal with the US must be for the same motive as in Iraq.
